I've officially fallen in love with him after The Sleepless Princess. I also found out that it was his own voice for his character Xue Yao--who had such a sexy husky voice! I am very impressed with zheng yecheng and am looking forward to watching more of his works.

Thanks! Listening to his interview & the behind-the-scenes clips, I can hear the similarities now. Wow, he has a great voice!

I really adore this drama. It has a lot of wholesome qualities and not too much angst and sorrow. The two main leads look really great together--I hope they do another drama together--and the other characters were great as well. I'll miss all of them very much.

Actually, he using his voice
Is it? I watched some of the behind the scenes clips and it doesn't seem to be his voice.

Advice for c-drama beginners: (I wrote this in reply to a user, but am reposting parts of it here as it might be helpful for some folks.)

When watching a long c-drama, you'll have to prepare yourself to commit to a story with multiple long plots and a high number of characters. If you're fast-forwarding episodes and scenes, then you won't get the full cinematic and emotional experience.

Long c-dramas (historical ones especially that are over 40+ episodes long) are full of sub-plots, schemes, and complex characters with a variety of motives--and these things are what makes it exciting (alongside the romance, cinematography, soundtrack, and beautiful actors). I really recommend that you prepare yourself to be immerse in a complex story so that you'll enjoy it.

For example, I got back to c-dramas thanks to The Untamed (50 episodes). I was hooked on every episode and was invested in the mystery and plot. It also helps that the actors were incredible (and gorgeous) and the soundtrack and cinematography was great.

Of course, you don't need to start off with long dramas (but keep in mind that these typically are the ones with higher budgets and can afford higher quality of production).

Article Starter Kit: China Spoiler
Great article!I have never watched a Chinese drama, so this article was very much needed. Thank you very much!I…
I used to think that too but I think there are strengths and weaknesses for both C-dramas and K-dramas. I hope you give c-dramas a chance!

Personally, I think k-dramas do better with modern romance dramas.
However, c-dramas do a lot better (and a lot more) historical dramas--and that's where they shine. The props, designs, costumes, hairpieces...everything is grand and beautiful. The cinematography and the soundtracks as well--they really shine in these areas. (The quality might vary a little bit depending on whether it's low-budget or high-budget.) Also, because of more episodes, characters are given more plot and depth.

Low-budget c-dramas are typically the ones that are 24 episodes.
High-budget c-dramas are the ones with over 40+ episodes (usually to 50+). This used to bother me, but I think it depends on your mood and whether you're ready to commit to a story with multiple long plots and commit to a high number of characters. If you're fast-forwarding episodes and scenes, then you won't get the full cinematic and emotional experience.
I got back to c-dramas thanks to The Untamed and I was hooked on every episode as the mystery and plot unfolds. It also helps that the actors were incredible and the soundtrack was great.

Ultimately, when watching k-dramas versus c-dramas, your mood and expectations will need to differ for you to enjoy.

I think of k-dramas as a minimalistic room--it's fewer, but well designed and beautiful.
C-dramas are a treasure room--messy and sometimes hard to sort, but full of wonderful things that delight you.

Also, at first I wasn't feeling the ML and FL's faces, but once I got used to it, they're pretty good actors, especially the FL. She acts so well as a young boy with no care.

One of my absolute favorite things about this show is when she runs off laughing super carefree and gleefully lmao. She's hilarious.

I'm getting really close to episode 20 and I already read the reviews telling me that everything after episode 20 is just...bad. I'm scared to go on and finish this drama lol.

I honestly didn't think I would be super into this drama, but it's tugging at my heart so much. It's hilarious and cute. The emotional moments work so well. Also, there's just some gorgeous scenes in here, so that is pretty great too.

I noticed that our leads are all relatively new. Sebrina is more veteran, but essentially they're all new-ish (within the past 5 years). I'm really impressed with them, especially the Zhang Ling He as the ML, who I doubted at first. I came to appreciate him and his expressive range, from comedy and smiling to serious and somber. I can see why he is main lead material.
Anyway, he and Sebrina look really good together and have strong chemistry. I hope they'll be casted in more dramas in the future.

Currently on ep20.
This show is just so wholesome and warm (besides all the murder mystery stuff). I love the characters so much.
Originally, I wasn't too sure on the actors, especially the ML and the FL, but I'm really impressed by them.
