I started this drama a while ago but never finished it. Just saw zheng yecheng in the sleepless princess and was…
Watching this again, I remember why I liked it so much. It was very cute. I really liked the leads too. Also, Hao Mei is so cute! I adore zheng yecheng's adorable acting in this drama.
I don't know how bad Zheng Shuang and Zhang han's breakup was ? But it would be a dream to see them team up again since it's been so many years since their last drama together. I adored them in Meteor Shower. I hope it would be them, but if not, then I will still watch it for Zheng Shuang.
Oh my gosh, zheng shuang, you were chu yu xun in let's go watch meteor shower!! I had no idea (I haven't seen it in forever) but I love LOVE that adaptation. It's my favorite honestly because of heng shuang and zhang han's chemistry. I remember when it had first started to air and I was waiting for so long for English subtitles. Now I look forward to finding all your past/current/future works and watching them! Although I wish zheng shuang did more historical dramas. That's my favorite genre lol. But I'll keep an eye out for her.
I love Zheng Shuang In Love O2O and it is the only drama I watched featuring her and she was totally great in…
Thank you for this! Also, for the explanation. I was wondering why she was very skinny in Love 020. I know cdrama stars tend to be on the skinnier side, but it was a bit worrisome. I'm sorry to hear she was going through such hard times AND receiving so many trolls. I think her acting was fine in that drama.
This adaptation is actually one of my favorites among all the other ones, especially for Zhang Han and Zheng Shuang. They were amazing and have great chemistry.
I started this drama a while ago but never finished it. Just saw zheng yecheng in the sleepless princess and was wondering what his role was in this drama. I can't believe it was him! He was adorable in this drama. :D I might have to go back and finish this drama after all.
This one will probably be in limbo for a while. I remember reading somewhere that, in recent years, cdramas with Korean celebrities have been put on hold by the Chinese govt.
Frankly, I'm a bit tired of the political plotlines, but for Ju jingyi & Zheng zhehan, who look so good together, I'll keep watching. They are just an incredible combination, a power couple, because they are the epitome of "stoic cold man & clever pretty girl" type. I look forward to seeing them in "The Blooms at Ruyi Pavilion" where it looks like the plot won't be as complicated as this one.
Can someone explain the ending to me? I don't really understand what happened and why she's in a slumber? Lol…
Throughout the show, it's been warned that if she uses all 12 chances of changing the future, she'll become a living-dead person--be in a coma in a way. It's a little unclear because the English subtitles sometimes aren't clear, but that's essentially what's at stake. Her father explained in the last episode that if she also changes the past--even if it's one time--then she'll become living-dead person also. As a living-dead person, you aren't responsive on the outside even though you perceive everything on the inside. She'll also age slower and everyone around her will die first. ("It's the cruelest way to die," her father had said, but it's the cost of changing fate.)
So, it's sad in two ways: 1) although our couple is together, she is unable to actively interact. She IS alive though and can see/hear/feel everything. 2) episode 35 seems to indicate that because xue yao fears not being able to take care of her and letting her live by herself/die by herself, xue yao might have them die together. Which, I think, is also really sad even if they are doing this together.
Of course, that was the first ending. The second ending or "episode 36" gives us a happier ending. :)
I keep thinking about this show and I'm so glad it's gaining popularity. When I started it, I had no real expectations. I was just looking for a cute romcom historical to watch, but this show did a lot more??? I'm still trying to find the words to describe, but it just ended being a lot better than I expected. I haven't finished watching it yet, but the acting, cinematography, story--it all came together really well. What a gem!
I have to ask: on some of the promo photos, she wears that deep red clothing. Does she actually wear that in the show? (Does she become a badass? Feel free to spoil me!)
Already commented on this a couple days ago, but forgot to add that what might be useful for newcomers is understanding nuances of some words. I'm not a native-Chinese speaker, so please correct me if I'm wrong! This is just from what I've gathered so far.
Subtitles will just use, for example, "brother" for all brother-related terms, but will not distinguish whether it's blood brother or a (generally martial arts) clan brother. So you have to pay attention to what the characters are saying, whether they're just "ge" (real brothers) or "shi-ge" (clan brothers). Same deal for sister. It's "jie" for real blood sister, but "shi-jie" as in clan sister.
And it should be clarified that when a girl calls a guy "ge", that's generally if there's familial/clan sense, but if it's "ge-ge" then it's generally a girl indicating an intimacy or closeness with the guy. (Like the Korean word "oppa" which can be "brother" but also used toward your boyfriend.)
Also, the word "ta" which is a non-gender pronoun and can refer to "he" or "she".
One of my favorite things about this drama is the development of xu xingchen and how he reckoned with his own feelings once he realized what they are. It's very well handled and I'm really glad the storyline went that route.
