This drama continues to impress me, especially with episode 14 with all the male leads getting their own dramatic moments with her. Enjoying this very much and can't wait for each episode.
Does anyone know how many episodes will this drama have, including the "second season"? Thanks in advance!
Didn't know what to expect but saw the cast and gave it a chance. It's really interesting! So tragic and angsty, I can't wait to see how the story unfolds. I suspect there'll be a lot of sad scenes in the future.
The slow burn of this drama makes me wanna scream (in a good way)!! They don't realize it themselves yet but they care for each other very much. (I got super emotional when Joo In Hae finally verbalized why she was so worried about his overnight disappearance--that she doesn't want to lose another person again like her father.) I can't wait for the moment they realize they're in love. <3 And I can't wait for the next episode for Joo In Hae to feel more joy in her life. She deserves it. <333
I basically just follow whatever this director is doing. He's done so many good short dramas that I trust him completely. He's the director of A Familiar Stranger (one of my all-time favorites), The Killer Is Also Romantic, and Provoke. His cinematography and visual storytelling especially are especially good. Looking forward to checking this out!
It's been so long since I've seen this drama so I don't even remember anything about it except that I really enjoyed it. If anyone is considering an old drama to watch, definitely give this a try!
Honestly, for Ok Tae Yeon's costumes alone, I'd give this drama a 10/10. He looks so good in suits! This show is a gift! But seriously, I'm really enjoying this drama. It's such a fun romcom. I'm so glad the show de-powered him by making him not being able to fully use his abilities. It makes the power dynamic between him and her more equal because he becomes a person who struggles just like her. He's not the bossy CEO type, just a vampire guy dropped into the modern century and trying to figure things out. He's so silly and earnest and that's what I love about him.
I know I'm super late to the party, but where would you recommend the best place to watch this is? It sounds like…
Hi! It's been a while so I don't remember where I watched it. The YouTube episodes are bearable if you don't mind audio cuts. The subtitles are okay too. But if are able to watch it on other sites like Kissasian or Dramacool, those will probably have better audio and somewhat better subtitles!
Oh! I didn't know he was Dylan from You Are My Destiny! I remember thinking he was pretty cute and then kind of forgot about him. Thanks to Circle of Love, he's back on my radar. Looking forward to his future projects!
Also, about Gu Meng and Xiao Hongye in the final episode:
I personally am glad that she got to shoot him! In a lot of dramas, the female lead always gives in to her love feelings and don't follow through on their revenge. But not in this drama! Gu Meng has been through SO much, and especially at the manipulation of Xiao Hongye. Even if Xiao Hongye didn't technically kill her family, again, don't forget what he's done to her directly/indirectly. Like, imagine having amnesia TWICE and the same obsessed dude manipulates you into loving him both times. Also, let's not forget that he literally did kill his unborn child. That wasn't manipulation from the villains, that was all Xiao Hongye losing control of himself and being horrendous.
Essentially, she deserved every right to shoot him and I'm glad the writers made it happen. Overall, I'm glad the writers kept the male lead as flawed as he was. In a lot of Republican dramas, the writers usually try to redeem the male lead in some way--or try to make the male lead less evil compared to the second male lead--but I'm glad Gu Meng never forgot what Xiao Hongye has done. Did the male lead also have a sweet, genuine side? Of course! But that doesn't make up for his wrongdoings. Overall, I'm grateful to the writers for keeping this gritty, complexity in the drama and for the characters.
So much love and applause for the actors! They were so good and really made this show worth watching. The two leads, especially, were able to portray such complex characters in difficult situations. I hope they'll get a lot more projects in the future and, hopefully, do another drama together. Cheers!
Chinese dramas like to do ambiguous endings like this to make you decide what you want to believe: is it really them? or is it some kind of reincarnation? so it's really up to your interpretation that would make you happiest. Chinese dramas especially like doing this since it implies fated encounter/intertwined destinies, etc., etc. but also it appeases viewers who might've wanted to imagine a happy ending for them.
I personally don't think it's actually them at that last scene, but a "reincarnated" version of them where they are not all fucked up and not caught up in some blood feud. They seem to be simply two people helping out during war time and are having an "fated" encounter. Of course, my take doesn't make "logic" sense, but it would make more sense than Gu Meng surviving a shot to the head, lol. Guns in the 1920s may not be as advanced as they are today, but still, a straight shot to the head WILL still kill you.
Anyway, this has been such a wild ride! I'll miss this show and the actors. They were incredible!
bad acting by female lead. she is not putting effort into scenes. One scene the gody guy take her in clouds. She…
Ju Jingyi has been criticized often before about her acting but it's slowly improving. Unfortunately, this drama was filmed a while ago (over two years ago, according to AvenueX on YouTube), so this was most likely before all of her current improvement.
I recommend watching more xianxia dramas or reading up on what the xianxia genre is. It may not be your cup of tea!
In light of some truth about the Gu Family's death, I hope we keep in mind that:
That although Xiao Hongye did not directly kill her family, he literally was the one who set up the bombs. Also, he approached Gu Meng initially so that he could purposely get close to her for his own revenge. Let's not forget that too quickly. Just because he didn't pull the trigger doesn't mean he's absolved from the whole thing.
