I am obsessed with this show! It is so well-written and performed. This is up there with the better dramas like Story of Yanxi Palace. There are few slow areas and I haven't been bored once! The plot line can get hard to follow because of all intricate details and characters, but it has just the right amount of gravitas and lighter moments to keep it from being too serious or silly. The performances are really good--no bad actors and the characters feel genuine. I am going to have a hard time letting this show go. Bravo to the production team! When you have a great script with the right cast, you can create something truly amazing!
According to historical records: In the ninth year of the First Emperor's reign, the King of Qin suppressed Lao…
I came looking for this. I had been watching this on Viki and was about ¾ of the way through when it disappeared from my "continue watching" section. I finished it on YouTube just a moment ago and was frustrated by the uneventful ending and the untranslated post narration.
I just finished it and I could easily have given this show 9 or even 10 stars, but a few things really bothered…
You're not wrong. This show had a lot of inconsistencies and implausibilities that took away from a solid rating. They did handle Hao Chen's issues horribly, bringing him on only to further the subplot du jour and then ignoring him to focus on the uninteresting corporate drama. The central point to this series should have been family. Yan always wanted this above everything because it's what she didn't get as a child. So, more emphasis on the son's issues and the strengthening of the family bonds should have been the focus. I was angry over the twist of him not being Shen Hao Ming's son after all. What was that? It was evil to do that and I don't understand the purpose. The ridiculous idea to pin it on the aunt was over-the-top nasty and made SHM look stupid for being duped. It's not like paternity tests are hard to come by or easy to fake. Just total nonsense.
He is supposed to be the Emperor’s son because Erqing deliberately seduces him to get pregnant because she needs something to keep her husband from leaving her. She then confesses to the Empress that she has become pregnant by the Emperor. Saddened by this betrayal she dies. This is why Yingluo takes revenge on Erqing and has her killed. Part 2 makes you think that the father is actually the uncle but that is implausible as Erqing never respected him. Yingluo deliberately deceives Fukang An because she isn’t about to reveal her husband’s biggest secret, as it casts him in a bad light.
they’re not siblings not sure where you got this. He’s bio dad is his uncle no relation to royalty
They are siblings. Yingluo deliberately deceived Fukang about his parentage because it’s the biggest secret between her and the Emperor. She wanted to exact revenge on him without revealing the Emperor’s big secret. This is was the whole reason why Yingluo has Erqing killed.
By the last episode I was like, okay...yeah...evil person says they're at their weakest, attack (for the 100th…
The strongest part of this drama was the great chemistry between the main leads. I loved the romance and how there wasn't any will they/won't they nonsense. The weakest is definitely the plot. There just wasn't much of a story.
Just started watching this and after 10 episodes binged, I am all in. This series is well written and acted. I was really needing this after so many fluffy and insipid dramas flooding the Asian streaming networks. Why can’t productions be more like this one? I feel like I’m wading in a pool of muck just to find a handful of really great dramas worthy of my time.
I agree, it’s just a bummer. I think it’s a little wild though that the murderer of her mom just gets off…
Yes, I wish they could have thought up of a different way to go about this. JCY basically telling her to bugger off simply because the culprit is his friend is BS. I mean, he is all about making Mu Dan happy and making anyone who hurts her pay, and he does this? The man still committed a crime. And he is NOT atoning when he is justifying his atrocious actions! I call bull on this one.
I don't know what to say. I waited a long time for this second season, part of me think it will be good at some…
You're not wrong. I love them too, but the repetitive nature and very slow burn of this relationship is making me want to stab my eyes out with a fork. I wish they would throw me a bone here. There isn't a whole lot happening right now. How many times is Liu Chang going to throw himself at Mu Dan until he finally gets fed up? Can our leads even get 5 minutes of bliss before something else comes along to make them cold towards each other again? I losing steam.
I just finished watching Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo today and was very impressed by IU's performance. I am now a fan. I am looking forward to When Life Gives you Tangerines.
Excellent performances by the cast.
