I keep wondering if I watched the same series everyone else here did. I don't usually post negative comments but can't help myself this time. And please note, this is not a criticism of the people/actors, it's the characters!
omg this is so bad. The acting is just terrible, like they are reading lines for the first time. I don't see any chemistry at all! Jiang Chi is hot as hell, but Gu Bu Xia is an immature irritating man-child. IMHO! But if you enjoyed it great!
I am constantly amazed at how they can churn out these short harlequin romance-type dramas that are so damn good, filled with beautiful people, costumes, locations, and music.
Episode 14,, the bromance is stronger than ever. Doctor made a nice romantic dinner, including champagne for the little bug dude. Sweet. And damn, them on the roof together watching baseball. I may just fast forward over the boring crime bits and just watch these 2 together!
Episode 12, really great bromantic scene between the bug dude and the doctor (much better title btw, Bug Dude and the Doctor 😉). Even the background music seems to be implying something! The machine subs are awful, but the dialog something like this: "I believe you. I will be in this world the last one who believes in you." with the music and the closeups and the facial expressions and the body language, I thought for a moment I was watching a censored adaption 😁
Episode 1 was good. CGI was beautiful. This was a good intro to the story. I absolutely love the little boy who plays young Dongfang Yuechu. He's so dang cute and a good actor. I'm wondering if he spent a lot of time with Gong Jun or just watched a bunch of his series, cause he was definitely channeling him perfectly! And I'm loving Dongfang Yuechu's personality, just the right amount of snark 😂
I'm trying to ignore some of the ridiculousness of this series but have a really tough time. Episodes 7 and 8, the family members are physically attacking doctors, following them around in the hospital harassing them and no cops are involved? They should all have been arrested! So far the entire series has been like this. The police aren't doing their jobs, the coroner vomits at the sight of a dead person, the bug dude just has a weird big smile on his face all the time, at the most inappropriate times too! And the doctor can't seem to fight his way out of a paper bag. Dang, a woman died on the operating table. If you act like that of course everyone is going to say you made a mistake and that's why she died! grrrr. Alrighty, rant over. Let's see how much longer I can watch. I wanted to see this since series 2 came out and I figured it must be good if they had a second season 🤣 Oh, one more thing. They lady fell off the balcony cause she was being attacked by bugs, even I could see that with the crappy surveillance video they showed! Duh.
So far, up to episode 3, this series is some seriously good fun! Strong bromance, a couple of seriously gorgeous guys, doesn't take itself too seriously. Highly recommend watching this very short series!
I absolutely loved most of this. Jing Bo Ran is totally awesome in this role, he owns it! Hells yes, I would fall for this guy, who wouldn't? And for anyone who is wondering about the pay for Easter Egg episode, you can forget it. All it has is interviews with the cast and crew. Not that it isn't interesting, but it's not a bonus episode. Disappointing, since I wanted to see the ML come back to life. There is one interesting bit so I'll mark this as a spoiler, they said a few times to look forward to Season 2, so I guess maybe that means he didn't die? Here's hoping this did well enough viewership-wise to get a second season!

Some spoilery thoughts
They don't seem to know how to eat in this series. 1. I never ever want to see another "stuff eggs in the mouth until they are falling out then talk to each other really close so you're spitting egg all over each other" kind of scene again. Seriously, gross. And they did an entire 5 minute scene with eggs crammed in their mouths like demented chipmunks. Damn shame, cause that scene would have been awesome since it was the first time we got to meet Nobleman. 2. Whoever the scar faced dude is eating breakfast, damn, learn how to eat! Sorry, it's just gross and doesn't add to the story. 3. The best friend is so damn annoying! She never shuts up, the father even tells her that she is spitting rice out, and she still doesn't stfu. Fingers crossed she gets offed first. Sorry, my bad. Pushy, noisy, and what the hell is up with the curler in her hair all the time.
Nobleman. Oh, I like him! A psychotic killer vibe for sure.
Holy shit, these 2 are the stars of Our Beloved Summer!!! Oh boy, I would love to listen to some behind the scenes with them! Do they discuss fighting and trying to kill each other? 😂
