I'm glad Bong Pil isn't as hyper as he was in the first two episodes, but I'm still not that into it yet. I like some of the scenes with Bong Pil and Soo Jin, but I'm not all that interested in the rest. It's not funny enough for me. Also, at this point I'm wondering when Soo Jin's story is going to kick in, she seems like she's just kind of there waiting to be the love interest.
I could potentially like this if Bong Pil calms down. He's way too over the top and hyper me. He's just really immature and hyper and it's annoying. He's also kind of jerky and oversteps his boundaries. That scene where he was searching all the hotels to find Soo Jin was supposed to be funny, but I was pissed at him. If her fiance wants to take her to a hotel or a multipurpose room for their "first night" it's absolutely none of his business.
Paula Patton's acting doesn't seem that great from the trailer, but I'll check it out to see where they're going with it. It could have it's own merits.
Personally I wouldn't say any drama is objectively awful. My opinion on a drama is always going to be biased.
I agree that Mary Stayed Out All Night and Flower Boy Ramen Shop weren't the best dramas out there, but still enjoyable for some reason.
I loved High School King of Savvy and unlike most people who hated the female lead, I didn't have a problem her. I liked that she was so awkwardly strange. It was different. I liked it.
I'm surprised Healer's on this list. The only thing I liked about Healer was the romance, but while I didn't like it, I didn't think it was awful nor did I think it was makjang. I've seem some makjangy shows and Healer barely scratched the surface. I am curious about the whole healer being autistic thing. I hadn't heard that before and I wonder who brought that up.
Can someone please explain why ocn shows all the knives blurred and at the same time you get to see a man's…
They definitely blur out knives because of violence too. I've seen knives several times that weren't blurred out, but then that same knife get blurred when the person uses it as weapon. No idea why knives gets blurred, but hammers, guns, swords, and other objects used as weapons are totally fine.
I like this actress. She really funny, but I hate that most of her roles revolve around her being the butt of the joke. Most of the roles I've seen her in, she plays the unattractive supporting character that the other more conventionally attractive characters recoil away from (it was the worst in Let's Eat). It's really insulting to her and everyone else who's not super good looking in most people's eyes.
I'd love to see her as a lead in a drama as a lead one day. A rom-com that show's that you don't have to be one of the best looking people out there and you can find love too.
I really admire her confidence though, cause if I was an actress, there's no way I'd be able to withstand taking roles where everyone was always talking about my looks.
Writers are getting better with writing female leads, but they've still got a lot of work to do when it comes to creating likable female leads that are well fleshed out and aren't just there to boost up the male lead. Sure there are plenty of great female leads these days, but there are still some that suffer from getting overshadowed by the male leads. I feel like Lucky Romance, My Lovely Gong Shim, and Moon Lovers (up until the past couple episodes at least) are recent examples of that. Rarely do you see female leads being more fleshed out than males.
Another BL from China? So we're either going to be in for another death if the show doesn't get cancelled first. I've been so disappointed with Chinese BL in general. I'll wait and see if it'll even be worth checking out.
They need to do another reverse gender-bender. I love gender-bender... but they're getting kinda repetitive now,…
I think you might be referring to an article I wrote a while back. I love gender benders too, but like you said it's getting really repetitive. We really need some reverse gender benders!
I think they don't do it because they think it would be hard to find a guy that would pass as a girl, but it's not like it really matters. Most the girls in gender benders don't really pass as men. There's like three dramas I've seen where I thought the girl might actually pass for a guy if I squinted really hard and didn't look too close. So I'd suspend my disbelief if they did a reverse gender bender, that's what flower boys are for after all!
I prefer kdramas to jdramas because I prefer to watch romance and comedies and I feel like korea does rom coms better (even though a lot of them have been so cliche and tired lately). I don't like most romance in jdramas because I don't feel like most of them follow through or get very deep into relationships. I like that there's always a lot of drama going on in kdramas and I like that most of them focus on romance because that's what I'm here for. I usually start watching jdramas and get bored by the middle because they're too realistic and slice of life for me.
I do watch jdramas when I'm in the mood for something different and unique. I love that jdramas branch out and focus on so many different topics that you'd never find in kdramas (disabilities, abuse, teen pregnancies, and all kinds of psychological dramas).
It's all a matter of what you're looking for. People looking for romance and drama tend to gravitate towards kdramas. People looking for realism and variety tend to gravitate towards jdramas.
Personally, I know I'd watch more jdramas if the ones that focused on romance didn't play the romance so subtle. And I'd love it if kdramas started branching out and focusing on different topics.
I personally didn't like the first one. I hated how he treated her and hated that she still followed up behind regardless. She seemed like she lived only for him and not for herself. I might go back and watch the season season one day though.
But anywho, don't they think there's been enough reincarnations of this already? When it gets to the point that you're remaking your own country's show, isn't that enough? Why so many versions of the same show when I'm sure there's plenty of other mangas, manhwas, etc to make into live action. Seems like they're just trying to cash in since ISWAK is popular again.
I didn't care for this show because it didn't have enough depth for me, but by far the most annoying thing is the fact that I scroll down my facebook feed and there's an article being written about DOTS or Song Joong Ki pretty much EVERY SINGLE DAY. Each one more trivial than the last: "How did the writer feel about the show?" "Guess how many takes it took to film that kiss scene!" "Song Joong Ki waved at a fan, isn't he just so humble?!"
