On A Korean Odyssey Dec 25, 2017
The first episode bored me for the most part. But the magic, ghosts, demons, deities stuff is intriguing so here's hoping it gets better and the Hong Sisters don't disappoint me like they did with their last few dramas.
totoro Dec 17, 2017
I disagree with Fight My Way, because it was one of the better dramas of the year for me, but I agree with all the rest, with SWDBS being the one I hated the most. Aside from being boring with writing that was all over the place it was full of sexism and homophobia and I hated it so much I legit get angry when people say it was of one of the best dramas of the year.

Title Together with Me Spoiler
This is scored pretty high, so I went into this with high expectations, but other than Korn and Knock having better chemistry than some other BL couples, it's nothing special. The typical BL cliches played out in this one. And I couldn't enjoy much when Knock and Korn got a little frustrating, Phu and the teacher were boring, and this included two of the things I hate the most in BL and that's the evil women trope and the fact that poor Farm was drugged and nearly raped by his ex-girlfriend, but the drama doesn't take it seriously. I just felt sorry for Farm because his innocence and naivete was taken advantage of by the doctor and if there was another season the last thing I'd want to see is him and the doctor reconciling.

Title While You Were Sleeping Spoiler
All of y'all have the same theory that Woo Tak might turn out to be the bad guy because Hak Young threatened to…
I've seen this theory and I do think it's a valid theory. The clues are there. The only reason I think it's probably not the case is because this is a kdrama and rarely do they have gay characters and when they do, their not portrayed well most of the time. But fingers crossed, maybe this drama will surprise us and show us some progression?

I'm interested in most of them except Summer's Desire and Chinese Odyssey. I don't have a problem with remakes because they don't stop the original "masterpieces" from existing. Sometimes they're better than the original, and it's always interesting to see how different countries tell the same story. Or sometimes how the same country updates an old story.

The whole whitewashing controversy was the first strike against this. Second strike was just that this adaptation wasn't well executed. They changed the story into this teen angst romance thing that wasn't right for Death Note. The characters weren't right. Lakeith did a good job as L, until the script went haywire and he was beyond out of character. And I hated how they turned Light into this victim that used the Death Note because he'd been manipulated into it.

the whitewashing itself is enough for me not to watch it but lmao i'm not surprised it's bad at all.
People always say it's not whitewashing because it's set in America. That's not an excuse. There are various races in America, so why is the default always white? Every time they make a remake of a japanese show, the lead is white. The whole shinigami/kira thing is japanese culture, so why not cast a Japanese American as Light where it would have made more sense? To me Light should have been Japanese, everyone else was free game.
On Hospital Ship Sep 3, 2017
This feels like they just tossed in every cliche from every medical drama out there.

This got better at episode five once everyone (especially Bong Pil) calmed down. I prefer the shows tone in episodes five and six where it seems like things are less chaotic and less trying too hard to be funny. I'm still not hooked on it yet, but it has it's moments.

Title Club Friday Season 9 Spoiler
I swear most of the BL in the the Club Friday series tells the exact same story with different actors.
They stay with their wives.

Title Band of Sisters Spoiler
I've only finished 12 episodes but I just really want Eun Hyang to steal evil woman #2's child and her man.
On My Daughter, Geum Sa Wol Aug 23, 2017
This show was just all around terrible. The characters were stupid, the bad guys were over the top, the leads idiots, and so many illogical, unrealistic things happened. And yet, I watched every episode of this. It was terrible, but addictive at the same time.

This could be better, but the chemistry is off. Things are just a little awkward between Haesung/Jung Won, Hae…
I like the group of friends together too. There's not a chemistry problem at all when their all together.

I disagree. I know it's supposed to be awkward between HS and YH because relationships are probably new to the both of them, but I don't mean that the chemistry is off just on the relationship front. Whenever any of the three leads interact with each other something is always off to me. They have some chemistry but their interactions never seem as genuine or sincere as they could. Usually when's there's romance/friendship/bromance scenes, I really like them and think they're cute, but here, they're missing that extra umph.

I know it's supposed to be awkaward between Hae sung and Jung Won because this is supposed to be their first love, but I'm feeling more awkwardness than that. Scenes between Hae Sung/Jung Won and Hae Sung/Min Joon were awkward from the start. Their scenes don't feel as genuine or sincere as they could feel. It's like the cast didn't really gel well before they started filming. That's just how it feels to me.

It could be an age thing, but I feel like it could be an acting thing too. I feel like things are awkward because the actors themselves are having trouble getting past the age gap and it's carrying over onscreen.

This could be better, but the chemistry is off. Things are just a little awkward between Haesung/Jung Won, Hae Sung/Min Joon, and Jung Won/Min Joon. Those three haven't really meshed well yet.
