I find your comment interesting and even though you are criticizing it is not offensive. Everyone of course has…
I will definitely keep watching because I am looking forward to the moment when SY comes down from the mountain where he lives. I don't know under what exact circumstances that will happen, and I'm curious about it. I do know that SY will undergo an emotional transformation, and for me that is the most significant part of the story. I also have a strong desire to watch ZY's character development. Ren Min is really good in this role. I treat the first episodes as a not very interesting but necessary introduction. I just hope it won't be too long.
After eight chapters, I like the drama less. I still think it's done well for the current times and for China, but the plot got even more generic and I lost interest in the main characters. As for me, there are too many sweet romantic scenes here that don't follow from anything, but this is a typical convention for teenage girls, where cause and effect doesn't count, only beautiful, sweet romance. To tell the truth, SY or maybe XZ doesn't suit me in this drama. It's the way this character is played. YGY is a trivial story on the acting and plot level of an idol-drama or typical xianxia. XZ is as if he came into this drama straight from the boards of a theater, where every sentence spoken, every facial expression is taken seriously. He doesn't play with theatrical emphases, but stands apart with style. Like a true non-mortal who doesn't want to bother with the affairs of this world. Paradoscally, this dissonance is interesting. I have the impression that XZ forcefully wants to give depth to a character who, based on the script, does not have that depth. The CGI is better and worse, but when the attacking monster reacted with "shyma?!" I almost cried from laughter. Of course, the beast didn't say anything, but the expression on its muzzle was just that. And one more thing, I love how SY reacts to ZY's stupidity. My reactions are almost the same as his :)
Me I give it 7/10 for the ost. I like the opening theme ost and the ost played in ep 6 at 16:15 at first I thought…
Right, the songs are good, but I regret that the music does not reflect the mood of the scenes. There were scenes where the actor does everything to move the viewer and I'm already ready to cry, and I can't because the music is just meh. I'm sure the songs were written by someone else, because they are really good :)
After six episodes, I think that visually the drama is much better than I expected. They really made an effort to make it look good. The acting is ok. I'm amused by the scenes with Chong Ming and SY's retorts. Zhu Yen is annoying, the character has a lot of room to grow and Ren Min definitely gives a good performance. Ren Min has talent and I expect beautiful scenes from her. Xiao Zhan's acting differs from others. I won't say it's better, it's different, more.... mature, as if he prepared every scene really well. The camera and light work is good, much better than in most c-dramas. The atmosphere of the drama is light, it's kind of a fantasy fairy tale for teenage girls. The plot of 2ML and 2FL is painfully generic, even simplistic. The music is boring, monotonous, doesn't emphasize the atmosphere of the scenes and knocks me out of practically every scene. The composer should get a kick in the butt for what he did because it spoils my impression of the drama for all 6 episodes watched. Music for me 0/10. But other than the music, the drama is surprisingly ok. I like (although I have some negative comments) the show and the leading of SY. It's interesting, original and that's enough for me to keep watching this drama. Well, and Ren Min's eyes can really play. I haven't seen her in another drama, so I don't know if she could do it before. When she was angry and hurt to the point of tears, she really won me over. A star is growing.
As far as I know no one here said that Yibo's acting is equal to Tony's? I don't know why would you even mention…
Don't drag me into the fan wars, because I'm not a fan of anyone. If you took the trouble to check one or two dramas I rated two years ago, why don't you take the trouble to check others? Why don't you check how people treat me on the WYB screen ex-partner forum? Check what kind of dramas I rate high and what kind of dramas I rate low without looking at the actor, because I've seen several hundred more dramas than those in which these actors played and I've given a lot of 1's and a lot of 10's. But with you, fans of the actor (any actor), it all boils down to the fact that if someone gives a low rating it's solely because they hate the actor. Forgive me for repeating myself, but there is such a thing as plot, cinematography, costumes, music, dialogues and yes, acting, but not of one actor, but of the whole cast. An example of The Wolf, plot average, many scenes leave much to be desired, but the commitment of ALL the actors is thrilling. Having a weak script they pulled off something super. At least for me. Ever Night had its little flaws, but season one was brilliant (two is a sh***). Since you're doing an investigation into who I am and what I like, do it properly. Check out my lists of what and how I score and why, and don't limit me to these two actors, because contrary to certain groups of fans, it's possible to enjoy a movie not because of the actor alone, but the whole thing. But fans are always oversensitive and will turn every word into hatred against their idol. And you will never be able to understand that normal people don't really care what kind of budding actor plays in a given production. Normal people care that the role is played well and that the whole production is done well. You don't have to be a fan of HC to know that he was the one who saved The Witcher, and even being a fan of WE, you can't say that she saved Blood Origin, because it couldn't be saved.
But you fans are amazing. A good director has made an intriguing, interesting film with some great, established actors, and you bring everything down to the level of your idol. Don't you feel embarrassed? This is exactly why I have nothing to do with ANY fan club. And if anyone feels like discussing with me further, feel free to PM me, because I don't want to make a public circus with you.
P.S. I went through your list and this one tells me a lot. What is on it and what is not. I think I've seen more c-drama, k-drama and j-drama than you, so I have a slightly different perspective than someone who is just starting out and has seen 1/20th of what I have.
She's not looking for the truth, but revenge, she's one of the victims. And they are all of them conspiring on…
Yes, I guessed that. Revenge is revenge, but revealing that the guy is alive and what he did is revealing the truth, so I guess I can put an equals sign. What can I do, I really don't like this type of heroine :( Maybe I'll come back to this drama when I'm in a different mood :)
As far as I know no one here said that Yibo's acting is equal to Tony's? I don't know why would you even mention…
Actually, I'm fed up with what's going on in showbiz not only in China. I'm talking in general now, not about this particular film. Critics are easy to buy. The water army is hired not only for hate but also for positive reviews and positive traffic. I have seen this hundreds of times. Someone will read a post on TW, Weibo or wherever, and while they have no idea who the person who wrote it is and whether they got paid for it - praise or hate all the same. And sometimes you just have to do the capital a favor to get money for the next project. I read some of the comments below and thought to myself that, again, no one is paying attention to the actual value of the film, or lack thereof, just fans arguing about how wonderful their idol is. Is it impossible to watch any movie or TV series without such arguments in the comments? And while we're at the comments, many passersby are unhappy with the film. It is dark, has little dialogue and the difference in the class of actors is clear. And then I read comments that there comments were written by the water army because WYB is an excellent actor ie they put him at the level of veterans. There are two sides to every coin (at least in most countries). I trust neither those who cheerfully give fives nor those who maliciously give ones. And people argue about how excellent was which actor, which nobody has seen anything and is based only on what someone somewhere said or did not say. Sorry, I couldn't stand it. Can't you argue about it after seeing the film? At least each side will have arguments in the form of a well or badly played scene and the discussion will be basic.
Thank you for your patience. I've said what I had to say and I won't take up any more space on this forum or read the comments, because it makes me sad that a movie is not being roped in as plot, cinematography, special effects, characterization, costumes, music, sound, just as whether a particular actor is good or not.
It got off to an interesting start. ML is intriguing. But then they introduced FL, who is an absolutely typical k-drama annoying journalist who fights for the truth and acts like, well, I'll withhold words. I hate this type of heroine. The cinematography is ok, but they try too hard to keep the thriller atmosphere and that blue lighting or filters are tiring in the long run. At the end of the first episode there is a scene in a car that was shot poorly. To tell you the truth, I didn't finish the first episode and have no opinion about this drama. So far I've been interested in ML, but the rest is severely average or below. I'm not criticizing the acting, but the idea of characters who are so typical that it hurts. The plot, too. I took it on hold.
Xiao Zhan reminded me of Takeshi Kaneshiro. In the eyes of both of them when they act, the emotions are effortlessly…
I know what you mean. Their eyes were natural, sincere, full of enthusiasm and determination. I'll also throw in Ji Sung from his youthful years. Their eyes, but also their acting, made me wait with bated breath for the atomic bomb explosion that was their talent. But age and experience do their part. I'm not saying they became bad actors, they just evolved. Maybe the roles they get now are more controlled, less explosive. But I remember that when XZ appeared, I immediately associated Kaneshiro. There aren't many actors with that kind of atomic quality in their eyes. It's a shame, because this is a completely different and intriguing genre of actor.
No one outside China has seen it yet, and people are already arguing that the actor played badly or that he played brilliantly. Fans call haters anyone who says a bad word and act like fanatics themselves. I haven't seen the movie, like probably everyone here, but I know one thing, if anyone thinks WYB can match TL's skills at this point, they should think twice about what they think. An actor who has been at the top of the world for several decades is not a little trafick star who is just learning acting with better or worse results - and the result is a matter of taste. So if someone doesn't like someone's acting, it really doesn't mean that they hate that person and live only to hate them. He just doesn't like that person's style, that person's face, etc. If you show me a WYB fan who likes absolutely all actors, I will still consider that person a hypocrite, because you can't like everyone, or at least no normal person can like everyone. So let's respect each other, and just as fans delight in the genius of their deity, non-fans have the right to express that they don't like it. We live in a free world. By the way, I heard that the film is supposed to be released in theaters in Canada and the US, although I don't know if that's true. Probably so, because there are sizable Chinese minorities there.
Oh, oh, oh, I'll be the devil's advocate (for those who don't know, I'll be defending the "wrong" cause). Aren't…
Thank you for only half calling me crazy and a troll :)
In the comment I responded to previously is the statement that everyone in the West loves him. Not everyone does. During the period when I was a fan, I shared his songs, funny videos, showed pictures with my friends. Not a single person showed more interest than "oh, that's the actor you like." And I even had to deal with a person who hated him for the way he played WWX and for three years made fun of me for liking how the guy climbs up on the roof and drinks wine. My comment was meant to show that not everyone in the West loves this actor.
Spoiler alert for embarrassing scenes, although I don't remember all of them either. The best example is Ace Troops, where XZ had the absolute best scenes. The whole arc at the front is excellent, but already the scene when he talks to the sergeant at the station where the sergeant says he is like a brother to him is played poorly. Xiao Zhan acts as if he doesn't know what to do with himself as an actor. His acting completely took me out of the mood of the scene. When his friend was in the hospital, XZ was standing in a corner with no idea what to do with his hands, face, etc. In the first episode of The Untamed he was excellent even as a background and played the role brilliantly, but in Ace Troops he came off as clumsy, and that was at odds with the character. TOoL is a drama played generally poorly by all the actors. No critic, no filmmaker spoke well of it, because there was nothing to speak of, and the drama's popularity is the love of XZ and YZ fans for their idols. Paradoxically, I think XZ played his best before he went professional. He had natural talent and really embodied the character even if it was written poorly. In Ace Troops, XZ is very uneven, as if in scenes belonging to Gu Yiye he gave his best and in scenes belonging to the latter he thought he was supposed to be invisible. Maybe it's a matter of the scenes having had different directors. But I as a viewer don't care what happened behind the scene, I care about the effect on the screen. I have reservations about some of the scenes in Douluo Dalu, but that's more a matter of individual taste, so I don't give examples.
The forum space on MDL is shared. Whether you are a die-hard fan or a passerby, everyone has the right to express their opinion. If, according to you, someone who is not a die-hard fan and dares to speak up without singing songs of praise about the actor should seek help to combat their problem, I'm tempted to ask if you have a problem with three views. But I won't ask. Instead, I will answer your unasked question. Yes, I do have a problem because an idol/actor should make fans happy and to me he hasn't made me happy for a long time. I don't care if we don't get interesting series, interesting stage performances, participation in entertainment programs or enjoyable songs because of his ambition. I am not his mother to involve my life in his future. I haven't received anything interesting from him for a year, no positive energy, so I'm officially back to being a bystander. This doesn't mean that I'm not going to follow his career and his series, it's just that the sight of him no longer produces dopamine, oxytocin or other happy enzymes in me. Maybe a new series will make me fall in love again, maybe not. But seriously, if you start treating everyone who doesn't sing songs of praise about some actor as a hater... Well, let me close the statement at this point. Have a nice day :)
P.S to all. Even when I was a faithful fan for some I was always not zealous enough and got hate from more zealous fans. It hurt me as a fan. Now I'm a passerby, so it hurts less, which doesn't mean it doesn't hurt at all. So before you flood me with curses and suggestions, stop for a moment and consider whether you, yourself, would like to hear such words against you. Let's treat each other as human beings :)
Oh, oh, oh, I'll be the devil's advocate (for those who don't know, I'll be defending the "wrong" cause). Aren't you being a bit snobbish with this "refined taste"? Not everyone from the West is impressed by his beauty. I showed him to several ladies of different ages (between 25 and 55) and none of them thought they liked him and I had three photo books of his best pictures. The social and economic spheres were also there from female students, office workers to academics. The awards he wins are those of the popular world, not the film world, and prove that he is popular and well-liked, not that he has good technique. As for the role of Patient #5, I suggest you find out how he got it. I personally like his acting, but let's not elevate him to levels where he is not. Whether XZ has made actual progress in acting is unknown to us because we haven't seen his new dramas. In every drama that has been released so far, he has had scenes that are excellent and ones that are better not mentioned. Could it be that fans' memory has actually forgotten those bad scenes? His natural beauty is non-stop retouched with makeup, costumes, hairstyles. Ever since I met him, I've been saying that WWX is 10/10 and XZ is 6.5/10. A woman or man looks much better in good makeup than without. This applies to him as well. Xiao Zhan is Xiao Zhan, the only one and irreplaceable. One can adore him, one can dislike him, one can be indifferent towards him. What alienates passersby from him, however, are unfortunately his fans. But this is the case with any idol/actor. There will always be a group that worships the idol like a god, what a perfect, wonderful, just a walking deity he is, and that if someone doesn't see this they are blind and deaf. This really discourages passersby. Honestly, even I couldn't stand this idealization by fans anymore, even though I created this account as a devoted fan of his. This is not a jab at anyone specific just a general observation. There is no perfect man. Everyone has flaws. People have different tastes. Fans, however, tend to go to extremes. Excessive public glorification of an idol can turn out to be a shot in the knee. A delighted fan who wants to popularize his idol may, with overexposure, discourage a passerby. People like to learn about something new, and if they have too much of something, or feel compelled to do something, they move away in disgust. There are actors with whom I absolutely will not watch any series or movie, even though the film may be excellent. I simply can't watch them. XZ is not one of them. Sorry for the long comment. It is not aimed at you personally, so I apologize if you felt offended. It's just that as a representative of passersby, I wanted to say a few words on the subject.
His acting skills are above average. Except for two dramas, his projects are forgettable and the quality is questionable.…
I love your comment, I really do! You come on the subject of an actor, insult him and his fans in a very indiscriminate way, and claim that if someone writes back to you it will only prove that all his fans are crazy fanatics. Wow, like I'm reading some surreal D-grade comedy :) Thank you, you really made me laugh.
However, as a FORMER fan of the actor, I dare to respond to your statement. I disassociate myself from the actor and the fans, so you can't use this against them. Buy your glasses, please. If you're saying that actor YY's plastic numb face hasn't seen a plastic surgeon (the guy can't even smile normally anymore) and XZ's face is post-surgery, you really need good glasses. XZ has lost a lot of weight, grown up, has also gone through a lot of hardships, which makes him look different. Only a living face is able to make such a variety of grimaces, and only someone without surgery can dare to make such close-ups as his.
I understand that jealousy speaks through you that your idol is no longer as popular as he once was. But for the sake of the god you profess, do you really consider it to be in good taste to insult someone in public and provoke them by saying "I'll insult you, and if you react it means you're a fanatic"? Since I have dissociated myself from being anyone's fan I will boldly say: change your medications, because the current ones have stopped working.
Everyone has the right to like who they want and for what they want. Sure, XZ doesn't have Dimash's voice, but he has emotion and warmth in his voice that make people happy. If it not works for you is normal. People have different tastes and you really don't have to insult anyone because of that. You don't like his acting then don't watch series with him. There are hundreds of series without him. If your idol is losing in popularity to XZ, instead of spitting venom at XZ and his active fans, organize a group of fans of your idol and get to vote. And if you think, as I do, that these votes are idiocy, why do you care who wins? And if you think fan circles are toxic, stop hanging out with them instead of coming to their forums and provoking them. You really will be a happier person that way. I am. And believe it or not, XZ fans are the least toxic and have generated new trends of being a fan and the official Chinese media sets them as an example.
Gee, I really thank you for your comment. I really laughed a lot :)
Did you see the theatrical version (144 min) or the extended version (168 min)? The extended version had corrected…
It seems that I have seen a shorter version. However, I did not detect any "errors" that need to be corrected. For me, simply the whole thing had no atmosphere and the story was not engaging. It even started out cool, but spoiled the moment the maid started telling her story. This turn to first-person narration and the motive of deceiving the rich maid completely stopped my interest. The surprising twists that followed were just boring and predictable. I've seen a lot of exciting anime in decent genres lately, and maybe it's just that this level of surprises, twists and suspense as in this movie fell short. A lot depends on the viewer, and for me this film was satisfying only on the level of acting and cinematography (here I also include costumes, set design, etc.).
It has exactly the same problem as the book, which is that it develops dull, heavy and slow. Fortunately, the cinematography, music and acting are excellent so you can really feel the atmosphere of unknown danger, uneasiness, something elusively disturbing. In terms of production quality, I am very impressed. It's like I'm watching a well-directed movie. There's a scene in the second episode where they're drinking wine, and while I found the plot boring, visually it was beautiful. This drama is probably not going to be a hit. Heavy sci-fi doesn't have many fans. Even medium sci-fi is not as popular as wuxia or xianxia. In addition, the tension builds slowly. However, the drama is done with the utmost precision, incredibly well, so although the viewership will be less than idol dramas, for me it is a contender for the biggest awards from critics and filmmakers.
