my favorite thing about this drama is, well the second leads of course, but beyond that, the pacing. its been a reallyy long time since ive seen c-ent put out a well paced xanxia and this was perfect. it didnt drag, and more importantly, they didnt rush the ending. all the characters got fully fleshed out arcs. i really enjoyed this show. the only thing that was sub par was the main romance, but lowkey i didnt really care about that at all because the other characters and their relationships with each other were so interesting and well executed that the main romance being kinda bad didnt even matter. def worth the watch. it was so easy to watch i binged the whole thing in 3 days.
feeling emotional at finishing this. im going to miss them sm. this was so well acted, well directed, and well scripted. def deserves a way higher rating on here.
16 eps in and this is just insanely good wtf??? one of the best shows ive watched in a long time. finally something that feels original script wise and isnt just the same old boring revenge wuxia. the mainstream costume cdramas of today are so predictable and repetitive. feels refreshing to watch a script like this!
I’ve just finished episode 5, and I’ve decided I’m going to start skipping scenes. It’s pretty boring…
the whole show focuses on the extras. i think this might not be the drama for you. the ML/FL dont interact too much, esp in the second half of this show.
I don't understand... What is the real background of rong family? Can anybody explain it to me?
i believe they were a well off family that immigrated to the Linji region and set up a tea plantation/trade system there. the region owes its prosperity to the family. i dont think they have a super complex history. they helped the founding emperor in times of trouble so he gave them a sign of power (the jade stamp?) in return.
didn't think this could get worse after ep30 and then it really well and truly did. what an abysmal watch. they had a star drama on their hands until ep24~. completely ruined the characterization of both the leads. i couldnt tell you anything about ljl's personality because he didnt have one. the entire second half of this show could've happened without him and it wouldn't have made a difference. rsb also has few redeeming features. she spent the entire drama pushing ljl away, even up to the very last moment. nothing she ever said to him made any sense, nothing she ever did to him was justified. im not even going to discuss how lackluster their romance was and how little chemistry they had once ljl left the rong household. last 10-12 eps ruined the show. also! they should've had rsb interact way more with her sisters throughout the show. the rong sisters were the star of this show for me and they completely threw all of them away in the end. i mean we dont even get a glimpse of them as rsb and ljl allegedly get their happy ending. and the way rsb and ljl get together at the very end of the very last episode but broke up like 50 times throughout the show. im tired.
