Can be frustrating to watch but it's 40 epsiodes. If they reunite too fast, the drama will be boring afterwards. I also think it's more realistic for the focus to be on their career instead of having too much free time for their personal interactions. And it's my first drama with this female lead actress. She's gorgeous, reminds me of an elegant version of Sandra Ma (who's beautiful as well but more girl-next-door). I really like actresses with rounder/more realistic features like them. Yang Yang is charismatic as usual.
Watched this 2 years back and it is still the best non historical c-drama for me. Acting is natural, very little filler scenes, and the plot is engaging. Very rare as c-dramas usually have draggy plots. Good production
Story feels very manga-like. Many plots are cartoonish and may not be the most realistic to appear on film.. It is adapted from a novel so that explains it. Don't really like how couples in most cdramas knew each other since young just like this one. Main couple has cute interactions, music is nice and styling is good. It is a decent drama but I won't recommend it to anyone
I agree with subpar editing, but filming and acting is top notch. Interested to understand who would you define…
I think Hu Ge, Liu Shi Shi and Wang Kai are quite good. For korean ones, Hyun Bin, So Ji Sub and Seo Hyun Jin. Disclaimer: I have only watched about 1-2 dramas for each of these actors, but I find their acting natural and eyes have the ability to emote.
Felt like I was cheated. I continued watching after reading a spoiler that the novel had a happy ending. But the drama had an open ending!! :'( Anyway, I feel like this drama is kinda average B- grading with subpar editing/filming/acting , but I did not feel like dropping it. Very strange.
Having difficulties completing this one.. Did not want to start because FL is Li Qin. Couldn't resist and started because Shawn Dou is quite a charismatic actor.. Alot of scenes with the boring side couple. The main couple story is also quite anti climatic..
I am confused about 2 scenes. It seems like plot holes..? Or can someone who has read the novel explain it to…
Thanks all for the replies! It's a pity that the drama didn't mention some details to better explain LSS's intentions. Maybe it will be mentioned in future episodes but I doubt so.

I don't understand why LSS went to XL when she saw TTJ bring an army out (to confront the Sheng emperor for stealing his mom's ashes). Why would she also want to save XL from prison?
I don't remember any relationship form between LSS and XL prior to episode 24. Or is XL just a mechanism to create misunderstanding between her and TTJ? These scenes kinda plotholes as it doesn't make sense

Average drama. Filming/editing method is good, pacing is just nice. But I feel like the FL acting was kinda stoic. I may also forget about this soon, not much memorable /impactful plot aspects
Just finished episode 10. Episode 1 starts off with a hook which kept me following FL's journey to see how it unfolds. I am a sucker for story which starts with hook.. The story is looking pretty ok, just feel like there is a lack of climax and the story telling is kinda chill. But at least, it isn't too boring and hope they keep this momentum. And knowing the commenters on MDL, I won't recommend reading the below comments because definitely lots of spoilers and ppl here don't like to use the spoiler tag :') ML is a tad too skinny. I know he's supposed to be ill-treated / malnourished, but still.
This is a drama from 2013, so the filming will not be as good as a drama from 2023. And a historical drama with…
I have watched other chinese long historical dramas like Nirvania in Fire and The Story of Yanxi Palace. It's my first time watching a long one from Korea and I didn't like it. I can't remember all plotholes because it has been 3 months since I dropped. What I do recall is the female lead should have been long dead but the writer just keeps her alive for the sake of continuing the narrative . There were bad guys who killed the concubine and all her servants going back to Korea. Female lead miraculously survives with her baby. The baby falls off a cliff and survives...

No.. this drama is actually slow with barely any interesting plots and a few plot holes. And if a 50 epsiode drama need to get interesting after 30 episodes, then I am sorry, they are doing it wrong.
