buuuuut isn't Go Se Won stunning in this series?!?! (that's all I have left to cling to LOL) The romantic chemistry DIED as soon as they took it in the direction they did and that helped put the final nail in the coffin on this show for me. I'm literally watching just because I'm too close to the end to stop now. LOL. I wanted to love this so much. The first several episodes were promising. But this was insanely 60 episodes of nothing happening. At all. Pacing was legitimately insanely off by episode 40 when all the "secrets" had already been revealed. -_-

episode 95 and same ole same ole. Also... I still find the most disgusting character in this whole drama to be Hye Won. She is truly worse than all the other characters combined, imho. Can't stand her and how absolutely delusional she is. Ugh! And how is it possible that Joon Hyuk's family can keep getting more and more despicable all the way down to the end. Just... wow.

ep 42 & just balled my eyes out. what a great drama!

Just like I was afraid of back around episode 40... the past 30+ episodes have all literally been basically the same scene playing in a perpetual loop. Other than that one ridiculous plot device, which I'm still salty over, there has been absolutely NO plot development since episode 45 or so. So crazy. But, hey, Go Se Won is uber hot in those suits. That's all I'm here for at this point ;-)

I'm so glad you're enjoying it. I ADORE dramas where I can get a real feel of the food, traditions, and culture for sure. The best part of this drama! :D

I have a more thorough review above in the review section you can check out about how I felt about the differences between the two if you'd like, but, I'd say they are both verrrrry similar. The major differences is that this one has a "current day" storytelling vibe that the 2020 one does not have. So there's no "flashbacks" to the past at all. Just the past storyline. Also... the VERY end is not the same. Almost everything else is. I watched JUST so I could compare them. If you love this one, I do think you'd enjoy the other one though! :)

Anyone have any suggestions for dramas like this... only better? Better acting, better romance/chemistry? Better pacing?

This one is better acted and has a better flow of events than the 2020 remake for sure. Much more masterfully told, like a story unfolding. Although, to be fair, the remake is VERY close to this source material. Scenes and lines are almost exact. The ending here is more beautifully done, but not as "happy" (I guess you could say?) than the remake's ending.

really really enjoying this. It's been a long while since a historical has hit all the right buttons for me!

I wanted to love this so much... but it fell very short of the promising synopsis. Also, I'm not a big fan of the FL in this show and maybe that's why I didn't enjoy this as much as I could have. I see comments talking about chemistry, but imho the chemistry is ALL on the ML's side and nonexistent on the FL's side. The ML is carrying the show. The FL, despite her awesome gift, has a super boring/2D personality.

show was insanely drawn out. I never went back to it after putting it on hold. You can skip tons of episodes and miss nothing. Not a great sign. :)

it's cute but that's all. plot is not well developed. side characters took over the screen time for no good reason and FL (unfortunately) never ever came into her own or realized her own worth or even that it was OK to not want something, to want something that others didn't want for you. OR that her happiness/worth isn't dependent upon the guy she likes. Slap a crap-ton of flashbacks and music playing over all the final "musical performances" and you have the final 3 episodes. there are wayyyy better shows out there.

besides the truly disgusting way he treats the fL throughout the entire show, in the end the ML rapes the FL after kidnapping her and then in the end literally "jokes" about raping her in a laughing manner and they both act like it was no big deal. I've never seen such a scene in a lakorn until this one. In most lakorns, the ML at least pretends like raping the woman he claims to love was a disgraceful/disgusting thing to do. Here, they literally make it into a joke. >_<

true. but it also still went from her making decision based on where she measures up to her boyfriend rather than for herself as a musician/person and also skips weirdly from her not answering his call to her debut performance with us not seeing/feeling any of her development. Pacing is so weird in this show. For me, the last few episodes have felt very random with the storyline. I have no idea what is even happening. What is the ending we're even hoping for?? "& they lived HEA. The end" ... and that's it? o.O
