When determining how good a BL is, I ask myself, "Would even non BL fans like this?" If the answer is yes, then…
Another middle-aged BL fan here. Born in ‘82 and was trilled to see you mention one of the best BLs ever made. My Beautiful Man is my favorite JBL. This show is quickly moving its way up the list, as well.
(I worked in marketing most of my professional life, but also owned an indie bookstore, and am now back in school getting a certification to teach English in South Korea. I always appreciate good writing, a compelling story, and strong direction.)
my absolute craziest theory if vees grandma being the one he is looking for.
My thoughts exactly! (…Oh, wouldn’t it be wonderful if she also accepted Vee and San’s love? And if she *refused* the stone that I predict San will willingly give Vee to give to her…) It would be so wonderfully emotional. Beautiful closure…
I feel as though the “original” reincarnation is Vee’s grandmother. And Vee is an “echo”, another version of her, since the first opportunity passed. Everything points to Vee being a reincarnated version of Wat, but San is falling in love with him not knowing this. This makes their love feel more real and not “forced by fate”.
Why do I 100% suspect that this all happened because the goddess fell in love with San?
Just a theory, but I feel as though Wat/Vee are in some way associated with (or are) the “goddess”. (Just look at the clip of OffRoad with long hair, nails, and the lotus mark when he is behind Daou…)
you're telling me this isn't in the novel!! also the stairs part had me dying
And here I thought the divorce was his way of protecting her and the baby from the loan shark... So they wouldn’t go after her if he was killed. (Or perhaps I’m attributing too much kindness to Tong because I like Mek?)
The fortune teller was being messy by saying that. I am convinced he hates ming more than we do.
I think the master has more to say, I’m sure. He’s saving his “infinite wisdom” for the final episode. Almost like he stopped mid sentence just to drive us all crazy. 😂
Since a person was shot and there is no way for Tong to deny his involvement, I still think he’s going to face his demise in the entertainment world. Only in the show it will be by his own making, which for me is more satisfying than Ming quietly having someone leak it to the press… Joe was shot in the process, yeah. But Tong shot himself in the foot this time.
Hey, could you tell me please what they changed from the novel in this ep ??
Ming disappeared for weeks in the book, is literally locked in by his family and has his arm broken by his father.
No divorce papers. No loan shark drama. No Joe getting shot (or hurt at all).
The only things they kept the same are 1) Ming’s brother’s promise and Joe’s identity reveal to him and 2) Ming’s mom sending someone to Joe’s mother to reveal the monetary nature of Ming and Joe’s relationship.
In the novel, Ming is later told by his family that he *must* marry a woman, and he *considers* agreeing while keeping Joe on the side (but ultimately he does not agree.) Joe confronts the family himself, saying they cannot break up him and Ming. Ming also spills rumors to the media that somewhat ruin Tong’s career.
I doubt any of the above will happen in the show at this point because it would not make any sense in the context of the current situation. I actually prefer the changes the show makes. More emotionally impactful, linked to the overarching story, and provides so much more character growth.
he should have seen it in his second chance already...
Man… everything he experienced with Ming in his first life seriously scarred him and left him with an inferiority complex. I do not blame him for being doubtful for so long. 😅
Waaaiit! Why did it deviate so much from the original novel? Does Joe really die a 2nd time?! At least this time…
Ming was willing. I mean, truly... He sold himself to the loan sharks in exchange for Joe. How could he know the cops would come and all hell would break loose?

Glad to “see” others my age on here!

At this point, it’s anyone’s guess, though!
Also: The Eighth Sense and To My Star (this one has 2 seasons) - both series are from Korea.
Other great Thai series are Not Me and A Tale of a Thousand Stars.

That’s my take. 😎(Super rare for me to say such a thing, too.)
