I am totally not a Ming hater. Probably because he reminds me too much of me in multiple ways. I feel for him…
I also feel for Joe, but I just can’t bring myself to hate Ming. That being said, I know the past events are going to be especially hard for many of us to watch.
(Yes, I have read the novel. And I love how the characters ultimately develop. Messy relationships are the most realistic, for me.)
I appreciated the editing in the intimate scene. That montage that many seem to dislike, for me, brought the story together in a very cohesive way that made the scene about more than just what they were doing in the moment. I also do not think that it (Qian’s decision to accept and sleep with Yuan) was too sudden, because the montage emphasizes that Qian had been thinking about how he felt for quite some time. It all led up to this single moment of truth.
And I love that the rest of their moments together displayed them naturally settling into their new status (and yet, not much really changed between them, except that there was no more restraint.) The theme of the show was found family. Lilli and San Pang were part of Yuan’s found family. It gave us an opportunity to see him support Qian as he worked through one of, many, future trials (her pregnancy.) Her young pregnancy was a good story choice, too, as it paralleled what had happened to his mother in her youth having Qian. Excellent tie in. Excellent growth on Qian’s part.
(On another note: Oh, the humor in the final two episodes. Brilliant!)
I understand how everyone feels, I totally get it. We will view this drama and how it ended in various ways, but for me: 10/10

I feel for Ming SO MUCH. 🥺
(And I feel for Joe, don’t get me wrong…)
(But I really do feel for Ming! Especially since he obviously “fell in love” with the wrong back. I mean, it was an ACTION shot!) 😏
I look forward to seeing Ming grovel for Joe…
Unlike everyone else, it seems, I love Ming! I relate with him the most and feel for the poor, conflicted, little messed up baby.
