Ummm.... am I the only one who thinks the Korean version is more perfect and jang hyuk was really outstanding…
This doesn't touch the KO version IMHO. They are pretty miserable almost the entire drama, so I don't even understand anyone liking this version. Happiness for a few episodes if that doesn't appeal to me, and don't get me started on irritated I got with the second leads in this one (couldn't stand them in KO version either though). I do love the music though, and the leads have chem, so I probably should watch them in their other drama together.
I avoided this drama like the plague because of them all dressed up in the white clothing thinking it was a gender bender boy band show and thought no way it looks stupid, but now that I've seen it, I'm VERY happy with it. If you want chemistry, it's in abundance and then some with the leads.
Just the way they will look at each other alone was beautiful and sexy. Baron/River's eyes should have a warning. lol I have a crush now myself. lol He reminds me of a American actor that I adore who too has this charisma that sweeps you away when he does romantic scenes.
IG posts showing their BTS looks is what actually got me to push forward and watch it. Baron/River and Megan have very effortless chemistry in this show. They click very easily and just like my Jangs they were in a previous role together (and trust me I will watch that as well now), so there is that comfortable aspect when watching them. I kind of hate myself, but yeah, include me in those who ship them hardcore now. It really felt like they fell in love in this, and you just feel it in your heart which really adds to it.
On top of that, I loved the secondary story with the father. I really enjoyed how the veteran actors played with the main roles. It was really good and tender and heartwarming. I think they did a fabulous job with this, and after seeing Baron/River in Fated (gosh I did not like that version and NOT his fault), I was pleasantly to see how much he elevated his acting in this.
Megan did an amazing job playing a guy IMHO even to the point my husband said that's a guy, and I said no it's not. lol He was fooled, and to me, what I liked the most about her playing the guy was watching her slowly inch forward showing her feminine aspects due to her character falling for the main lead. It was cute to see the unintentional ways things would sneak out of her TBH. Let's be honest the set-up was classic TW to force her to be a guy, but it still worked despite the back story for it.
I also enjoyed the cousin (loved that girl), and I read she hasn't really had a main lead part which makes no sense to me. She was hilarious always running in trying to steal the scene, and then, Megan's character would take it back. Their dynamic was really fun to watch, and it was very heartwarming as well.
I loveeeeeeeed the music. Gosh, the music just really adds to it, and these songs are catchy and beautiful and fun - loved when they started using the violins for the duet song A LOT. They spent a lot of time on this drama making sure every part fit together IMHO.
My one downside (and maybe I was so swept away from by the romance of it) was I did not care for the whole Nana thing. I thought Zifeng's BFF was just too emotionless for me that I really only cared for his expression when he was around the main couple. I really didn't pay a lot of attention to this aspect of the show and yeah I ffwd the majority of it.
I really wish they had given more time to Ya Nuo's relationship with her male BFF who I just really liked a lot. I kind of got irked at times how he was left out more at the end of the drama as if to downplay their relationship.
One more aspect I loved was the love rivals with the men for Ya Nuo. I didn't hate that SL male, and I didn't root for him for the main female lead. He just a nice added addition to the drama, and he worked well with the male/female leads. Some of the funniest parts are Zifeng's jealousy issues over Ya Nuo, but Baron/River did a great job at adding humor or I would swear was ad libbing at times to up the entertainment value of the show.
It cracks me up that someone below did not like the hair on Baron/River, and I loved it. I thought it was sexy and added so much to his sex appeal. If they thrown in some bangs or cut it in an awkward way, I would not have been happy. It was refreshing to see them NOT change it for once, and I would like to see this hairstyle more as opposed to the bangs (can we not always go back to that) or the uneven cuts or avant garde trying too hard look during a drama. It is just distracting to me, and his hair have consistency was nice.
Overall, yes, there were predictable parts, but there were also surprises (one was huge), and I thought that was great. As with every TW drama, you're gonna have thing that are OTT at times, but there was a lot of humor and lovely moments to balance it out in this one. The chemistry was fun to watch among everything that interacted (Baron/River and Megan stole that though), and people always say there isn't enough intimacy or skin ship on dramas, and this debunks that myth in a huge way.

I was just saying that while watching it again to see it with new eyes considering he knew way back when. I wish we had less of the whole Nana thing TBH. I just found that whole thing kind of boring, so I just ended up skipping it. The only true downside to me.
Four months of my life I spent on this (maybe more aigoo), and sorry, I will never watch live again - binged first season and that was the smartest move. I loved YJ and GB a lot, but man, it was a hard lesson learned on watching these types of shows live.
Please watch this if you can keep it on the air. I would watch it live if I was in Japan. It is outstanding. The acting by the female lead considering the subject matter is riveting to say the least, and the dialogue just grabs you at times.
I keep hearing rumors of it being canceled, and it would be such a shame because it is just amazing, and when you considering the circumstances behind everything, it makes a lot of sense. I know people are worrying it's glorifying kidnapping, but there's so much more to it than that when you know the entire story.

Same! I saw the MS version of it, but man, it needs subs because she goes off. I think he is being criticized for having lost his passion in his writing though, but I don't know for sure. She is sticking up for him methinks, and then, he's gonna drag her upstairs.
Ha, ha, IKR, they're both in relationships, so I bet they don't want to deal with people speculating if they acted in something again, but c'mon, just do it! He was in a video of hers, and that chemistry was still there. It's ridiculous to waste it.
Ha, ha, yes, I just saw it, and what made me so happy is they NEVER touched it. It just was so hot the entire time with no stupid bangs out of nowhere or some weird haircut. It made him even sexier in the drama! He had bad hair in Fated, and I couldn't stand the TW version anyways (not even his fault though).
I like this a lot already just based on a lot of the actors involved although the female lead is new to me but already liking her a lot. The personalities are completely distinct as in I could've seen Do Hee sitting down during the turbulence not giving a damn about anyone else. They did a good job of laying that foundation for me.

The kiss was a little surprising though (wasn't on purpose people). lol I told my husband that people are gonna flip out that she's married and doing all of this. This gives more of the Thai vibe for me kind of series while the first story was more mature and probably the best well-written BL series I've seen thus far.

Also, for those who watched Go Back Couple, that's the second leads the brother and his ex. lol I hope they have her chasing him! You would understand why if you've seen GBC. ;)
I loved him in Coffee Prince. At one point at least for a while in the beginning, I even started to root for them because there was something very charismatic about him as an actor, so I am anxious to see how their chemistry works in this. I think it may surprise people and work just as it did in Scarlet Heart.
I am such a "Cruel Intentions" fanatic, but so far with the clips I've seen and everything else, nothing has given me that, oh, I can't wait see this moment. I don't even want to put that on Joy. He isn't ringing my bell either thus far. I did think he had a lot of chem in Mad Dog, so maybe it's just they're picking everything wrong to promote it.
I think the crazy boyfriend from Age of Youth would've been perfect for this part TBH. He can play sweet one moment and devious/sexy the next. It would've been the perfect breakout lead role for him.
I went from cringing at times with this show while laughing to letting it steal my heart. Can I say how much I wanted them to have a real kiss after he sent her that picture? The soft eyes he was giving her was such a perfect moment. I know that's a bit greedy especially since we have extra episodes now! I was so happy when he confessed finally especially because that second lead is way too perfect. C'mon! lol
Zhang Vin is the Ji Soo of Chinese dramas when he's with Dilraba. It's just ridiculous to watch this happen again. I'll probably watch YT vids to see if anything happens that is worth my time as I did with King's Woman. I've shipped them since Pretty sadly.
