So I admit I wasn't very convinced with "Lady Park" until now, but she literally stole the show in ep8!! I only have one wish from now on, that she doesn't meet a miserable end... I'm still not enjoying the king's character, and I don't really care about the romance or any other character apart from Lady Park and maybe her maid/friend.
I just don't understand Lee Tae, he makes a grand speech about how he will leave Lady Park to die with Left State Councilor and become a "true king" but then he refuses to accomplish his duty ? I guess that now Lady Park showed the Left State Councilor that she was the real deal and wasn't easy to mess with, he feels like she's on his side now...? But that doesn't change the fact that he was about to sentence her to death moments ago...

I agree with you, he really has talent. I hope there will be some strong character development in future episodes, maybe he will have the chance to show a more "vicious" side of his personality then because I want to root for him but for now I'm just like "well ok you're crying again and I'm bored" I just don't feel anything and that's a shame

Yes it's bothering me too... I loved him in Bulgasal but here it's a little hard to believe he's the king but I guess it's just a matter of personal preference... Like you said the writers surely wanted Lee Tae's character to be more "unique" so they told him to show his "weak side" more often than we normally see in this genre.
Same as you, I still want to see if things are gonna be better in the future

I think she wants to be queen mainly so she can protect her people correctly ? But on the other hand Lee Tae doesn't want her to be queen for political reasons...

Maybe yes... But I feel like the majority of the comments here are praising the drama so I'm wondering if the problem is just me lol

I don't know why but I have a hard time getting myself attached to these characters :/ I feel a little indifferent to all of the schemes and even the romance doesn't really pull me in. Of course I understand this drama is mainly 90% angst and politics and like 10% romance (if we can call it that) and that's not a problem because I really liked The Crowned clown (even if the stories are different, the overall feelings are the same). The actors are doing a great job, the cinematography is beautiful and I love the OST but the rest is kinda flat for me (?). Maybe I'm not in the mood for this genre...

I had the same thought as you... I guess she didn't tell him because she feared that he'll send his men to rescue them but then some of her people's lives would be lost in the battle in the process...

I agree with you, she was unfairly cruel toward her ex boyfriend and family that's why I said that both sides were in the wrong, and maybe Junyoung more so that Taeyoung... But I feel like she was so hurt by the accident that her only "coping mechanism" was to distance herself from all her relatives (of course it's not particulary healthy either) it's just that I saw so many comments hating on her that I want to say that it's our right to decide to forgive or not... Maybe for some people the fact that she is still holding a grudge against Taeyoung after 3 years is petty and uncalled for but I can see why she's still hurt by these events... But I do hope there will be character development for both sides

Absolutely ! Let's not forget Taeyang was the one who wanted to move on from the guilt in previous episodes, she even said so to Jungwhan like she didn't understand why he was still stuck in the past (of course I don't say that to defend him because he was truly awful toward Taeyang and I can't say I really like him now either but that's not the topic) but now that Junyoung is back, the guilt resurfaced... I perfeclty understand that Taeyang wanted to forget because it's clear she suffered very much because of the accident but I feel like Junyoung is also right to keep a certain distance from her... I guess we'll see in the upcoming episodes the reason why Taeyang wanted to go snowboarding in the middle of the night drunk and maybe then Junyoung will forgive her for the accident but I still firmly believe that both sides have done things that weren't right. Also it's clear that the writers want us to sympathise with Taeyang more because she's the main character and Junyoung the "antagonist" of the drama.

At times it feels as if Taeyang likes being hurt because why would she go to the gathering & try to publicly apologize…
I completely agree with you ! I think both sides have wrongs and rights. I kinda agree when Junyoung said Taeyang was selfish, because why would she try to apologize to Junyoung directly in front of their coworkers/friends ? It only put both of them in a difficult situation and I didn't even understand why she went to the gathering in the first place... Now that Junyoung is back in the picture Taeyang wants to show that she is a "good person" and hope to be forgiven only to reduce her guilt... Well of course it's understandable but I saw so many comments here saying that they hated Junyoung for her reaction but I kinda empathise with her too... Like you said she lost her job, her passion, and she tried to cover for her friend and "be strong" in front of everyone... Of course it wasn't very healthy for her to go silent for 3 years (especially for her boyfriend and family, in fact I didn't even understand why she said that she hated Junghwan, apparently because he knew the truth behind the accident and didn't say anything to the press or her family ... ? I don't know it wasn't very clear). And well I feel like Taeyang always considers that the world revolves around her... Especially in front of Taejoon, like I understand she's depressed but she only talks about her problems when she's with him... And she doesn't even know the relationship between him and his sister yet so I fear for the upcoming episodes (his sister doesn't know about them dating either so we can expect even more angst). It's true that he wanted her to open up to him about her feelings and all that but I really don't understand why she puts herself in these situations where the only result possible will be more pain. I guess it's meant to be more realistic but I didn't expect this drama to be so gloomy in the end. In fact I have a hard time finding characters who don't bother me, apart from Taejoon and a few members of the badminton team. I hope there will be more character development in the future at least.

Title Bloody Heart Spoiler
I should really make a chart showing who's who, who has power, who is with the king or the left state councilor... who's dead also lol because I have a hard time following their status and names. But well it's only the beginning so I hope it will be easier with time! I also want to say that the cinematography in this drama is really breathtaking, a literal work of art.

Concerning the story, I hope they will show us more about the development of their relationship (between the king and Yoo Jung) because I'm not 100% sold on them for now... And if this drama is meant to be heartbreaking (precisely if it's a retelling of Romeo and Juliet) then their relationship should be developed well enough so their possible (future ?) separation would make us want to pull out our hair with worry and sadness. Because it seems she likes him mainly because he was the one who saved her when she was young... and it feels a little flat for me.

The same goes for the king, I understand that his status and enemies forced him to show to the entire world a cold facade but their interactions for now are a little too modest (?) I don't know if it's the right world but if they met in secret ever since they separated while young (or maybe they met again well after that ?) they seem to hardly know each other in the present time (even without the fact she doesn't know he's in reality the king). I hope we'll have enough material on their past during the next episodes (2 ep are not enough to form a solid opinion of course).

Also the writers did an amazing job in balancing different genres (comedy, supernatural, romance) it feels like a mix between Castle, The Guest and Hotel del luna ! And things are slowly falling into place, it's very intriguing.

I don't know if it was a good idea to watch this while it's on-going I seriously can't wait for the next episodes !! They sure know how to make the viewer stuck to their screens at the end of each ep lol And I'm so glad the rating came up !! Maybe more people will decide to watch this drama now !
