Just finished ep 7 and I'm here to say that I really like the story and the characters, it's engaging, mysterious and also quite original for a historical drama ! The FL and her maid are shining in their role and I really hope they'll get their happy ending once the drama is done. Maybe the pace is a little slow, some even say there are "filler" episodes which don't bring much to the story, but I much prefer that than completely ruining the story by adding some twist that don't make sense at all, just to make it to the 20 episodes count... I also really like slow burn romance so it doesn't bother me at all lol. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way is the FL's quickness to forgive the ML... Of course he apologized but I would have liked it better if she was a little more hard on him even after that scene... Their bickering near the water was funny, no doubt about it, but for me it kinda removed the solemnity of his apology... I also understand he is the crown prince so he's not used to apologize to anyone but I think the FL's pain regarding his actions wasn't handled very well. I want to see a resentful FL for once !!
And I want to say that I really like this drama, at least for now ! I also wonder how they will make 20 episodes with this story but I guess we'll see. The acting is great and I love the FL, she's smart and knows how to fight, she's such a refreshing character !! I think the actress does a great job at it. Moreover I saw some comments saying she should be sadder than she actually is in the show but I don't think the viewer would be very happy to see the FL mourn and be depressed all the time either... Choices were made and I personally think she makes it work. I really wonder how the mystery part will turn out in the end, it is engaging and it puts enough clues for the viewer to take their guess. The only think that makes me wonder is the prince's "curse"... I don't know if it's due to the translation or what but saying "you will not be able to use your arms/legs even if you have them" seems to be a little far fetched... Because he can walk and use his arms just fine ! Well I understand it causes him great pain and all that but it still makes me quite perplexed. The editing is also weird at times and it makes some scenes hard to follow unfortunately. But despite that I'm still waiting patiently for the next episodes !!
I have a question regarding the bracelet at the end of ep 6 : I couldn't see very clearly (thanks to the very bad wifi lol) but I thought I saw a fish amulet on it ?? Could it be related to the old man and his fish that the maid pushed in the street ? If anyone can confirm (or not) my suspiscion it would be great thanks !
Well I really really liked this drama, and I'm very glad I watched it despite so many reviews/comments saying it was horrible ! The acting was top notch, I loved everyone in this little group of friends (Hae Yi's family and Sun Ho's mom too !!), it was funny and some parts made me tear up even, honestly I didn't expect that but it was for the best, some important life lessons were addressed and even if it is fiction, it can still greatly resonate with the viewer behind the screen. I admit I didn't know what to expect from the whole "cheering" activity (first time I see it represented in a drama, also quite different from the american style, and very enjoyable after all) but the OST was AWESOME and the energy among the team was so sincere and spontaneous, you can definitely see the actors 100% enjoyed themselves. Of course I also think the love triangle went on for way too long, but even then, I couldn't hate Sun Ho and I still liked his character in the end (I started watching this with the endgame couple already in mind lol so it was surely less frustrating for me) moreover all the couples were extra cute and the friendships even more so !! I also loved that there wasn't any unwanted jealousy between the female characters, it was sooo refreshing. Of course, I agree that the mystery part wasn't very thrilling, but I can understand why it was added. Maybe 12 episodes would have been more suitable for this story, but it was still enjoyable from start to finish. All in all, despite some flaws, Cheer-up is a drama full of energy, youthfulness and love in all its forms ! That's why I encourage you to give it a try :)
They're not a couple in the end ?? I thought it was a happy ending I planned to watch this only because of that…
Thank you so much !! I was afraid they would be forced to break up due to the distance from what I understood from previous comments here but if it's not the case then I wil gladly watch it !

Thank you for your reply ! I'm a little confused, so does that mean the leads love each other etc but they still decide to live in their respective "countries" in the end ? Because these kind of open endings are really not my thing and I don't have the energy to watch nearly 50 episodes just to be disappointed by the ending... :/
Does anyone know if there is a translated version of the novel somewhere ? I would love to read the original material, but I fear it's not in English :(
The FL and ML are reunited at the end after 500 years of FL begging the Ancestral god/stone. It is a “real happy…
Thank you so much for your answer ! I understand now why many comments said it was both an happy and unsatisfiying ending... It's definitely bittersweet but at least it's not an open ending (my worst nightmare after tragic ending lol) so I will give it a try, thank you again !
I tried to read the comments below but I can't find a definite answer. I think I understood it's a happy ending but also an unsatisfying ending...? Can someone explain to me how it can be both please ? I don't mind spoilers, I just don't have the courage to engage in a series with so many episodes if it isn't a real happy ending (meaning the couple gets to live together happily ever after if possible)
"terminal illness"... I don't know what to think about it but considering it takes place in a hospice I guess it's not gonna be rainbows and glitter all along, I really like both actors so I guess we'll see... I just hope it's won't be too tragic :/
Was the writing for her "redemption" any good? Like it took a lot of effort from her for the ML to finally forgive…
Well I don't remember the details exactly but it's true that even I thought the ML forgave her a little too fast, but in my opinion the FL was still sympathic despite her wrongdoings so it didn't bother me much. I love the actress so maybe I'm biased haha Also even if he resents her, it's clear that he still loves her even at the beginning of the drama so his reaction is kinda understandable in the end.
