I have a theory on this - writing it as a comment in spoiler tag below.I believe many who are watching the show…
I agree with what you both said. I think that's why the whole thing with the baker happened in this episode, so many people were against him and there was also some kind of "proof" that he came to believe that he was at fault, just like Doha... The FL's power didn't work during the firt scene when he is accused by the mean woman in blue, and it's only later when she encounters the baker again that she begins to understand the truth due to his actions. The "truth" can easily be manipulated.
Some of the characters are annoying for sure, but they're growing on me. They make the show more charming.
@Magnolia2020 @aeducan15 this a very good supposition, I didn't think about Do ha's mom either but it would be totally possible, especially since Doha's mother is terribly afraid of damaging her reputation...

I see, it is indeed a lazy and unrealistic way to conclude the story, especially if he was the main antagonist of the show... Like you said, My lovely liar seems to go for a darker route, so there's a better chance that our main leads will deal with her accordingly (maybe the dad will make his return in the future and protect his daughter from her mad mother ? We'll see !)

I dropped Clean with passion for now a long time ago so I don't remember the grandfather but I understand what you mean... Let's hope the writers won't choose to do this, because I really don't see how her actions could be forgiven, and I don't think they'll have her make a big "sacrifice" for the FL, unless she suddenly decides to not care about money at all, which seems very unlikely for now...

Yes ! Maybe they're not the best secondary characters of all time yet but they don't deserve all this hate (except for the mom, a redemption arc will be hard for her --')
I don't really understand why a vast majority of comments are so angry with the secondary characters here, I feel like there are much worse secondary characters in other dramas than this one... Of course the FL's mother and the idol here are on a level of their own lol, but even then, I think that the idol will at least improve her ways in the future, because we're not even in the middle of the drama yet ! Also I don't find the 3 shop owners particulary annoying, yes they are noisy (espcecially the girl) but still I am hoping for a kind of friendship between them and our 2 leads maybe...? And the SML is kinda cute, at least for now. He will surely be an obstacle in the future since he is a police officer but for now I think he's still respectful of the FL's new life, despite his sadness to see her with another guy. Clearly, he still loves her and wants to be around her but it doesn't feel like he is trying to force his feelings on her. But I guess we'll see, in any case, if you are interested in watching this show, don't be discouraged and give it a try ! The acting is great, the chemistry between our leads is definitely present and the mystery part is also intriguing !
I'm a little confused, didn't she tell him about her abilities when she first met him in the bus 5 years ago...? She had the business card also, even if he didn't take it at the time...
Absolutely !! I'm glad someone noticed that questionable behavior coming from Jin Hong... I think the whole scene…
I agree with you, unfortunately, with 3 episodes left, I don't think the mom will change but, maybe, Jin Hee will have the courage to free herself from this environment to live her life fully for once. At least I hope so...
okay but Jinhong caring more about Eunmi his high school love more than his own sister who did so much for him…
Absolutely !! I'm glad someone noticed that questionable behavior coming from Jin Hong... I think the whole scene was supposed to be funny but it didn't make me laugh at all, I felt bad for the sister, even if she isn't perfect, at least she seems to have "logical" reactions regarding the news
With only 3 episodes left, I don't understand why Jae Won is shown on the poster because his character is like…
Also I think we can all agree that both Eun Mi and Jin Hong are childish, especially during the scene with Jin Hong's sister in his home. I understand Eun Mi and her are on very bad terms since their teenage years but I think that changing the password on the lock and asking her to call before visiting was a litte too much since she was his only family during all those years... I don't know, I understand the writers wanted to show that he is now ready to place Eun Mi before everyone else but something in this scene kinda rubbed me the wrong way.
With only 3 episodes left, I don't understand why Jae Won is shown on the poster because his character is like an afterthought, and without Jin Hee to have a proper conversation with him, he wouldn't exist in the story or barely. That's a shame, because even if we get the reveal of his past on later episodes, I feel like his character was completely wasted... Too much screen time is given to the parents, especially the mom, since it's really difficult for me to like her character... I guess the dad tries to respect Jin Hee's personal boundaries but I still think their issues are conveniently swept under the rug. it all feels very superficial sadly. Even the mystery/murder story is going in circles, and I hope they'll catch the real killer in the next episode because I am getting a little tired of watching the same scenes in which Jin Hee's mom is stalked endlessly by the killer without much consequences. They tried to mix different genres but it's not really working, at least in my opinion.
Just finished ep 7 and I'm here to say that I really like the story and the characters, it's engaging, mysterious and also quite original for a historical drama ! The FL and her maid are shining in their role and I really hope they'll get their happy ending once the drama is done. Maybe the pace is a little slow, some even say there are "filler" episodes which don't bring much to the story, but I much prefer that than completely ruining the story by adding some twist that don't make sense at all, just to make it to the 20 episodes count... I also really like slow burn romance so it doesn't bother me at all lol. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way is the FL's quickness to forgive the ML... Of course he apologized but I would have liked it better if she was a little more hard on him even after that scene... Their bickering near the water was funny, no doubt about it, but for me it kinda removed the solemnity of his apology... I also understand he is the crown prince so he's not used to apologize to anyone but I think the FL's pain regarding his actions wasn't handled very well. I want to see a resentful FL for once !!
And I want to say that I really like this drama, at least for now ! I also wonder how they will make 20 episodes with this story but I guess we'll see. The acting is great and I love the FL, she's smart and knows how to fight, she's such a refreshing character !! I think the actress does a great job at it. Moreover I saw some comments saying she should be sadder than she actually is in the show but I don't think the viewer would be very happy to see the FL mourn and be depressed all the time either... Choices were made and I personally think she makes it work. I really wonder how the mystery part will turn out in the end, it is engaging and it puts enough clues for the viewer to take their guess. The only think that makes me wonder is the prince's "curse"... I don't know if it's due to the translation or what but saying "you will not be able to use your arms/legs even if you have them" seems to be a little far fetched... Because he can walk and use his arms just fine ! Well I understand it causes him great pain and all that but it still makes me quite perplexed. The editing is also weird at times and it makes some scenes hard to follow unfortunately. But despite that I'm still waiting patiently for the next episodes !!
I have a question regarding the bracelet at the end of ep 6 : I couldn't see very clearly (thanks to the very bad wifi lol) but I thought I saw a fish amulet on it ?? Could it be related to the old man and his fish that the maid pushed in the street ? If anyone can confirm (or not) my suspiscion it would be great thanks !
Well I really really liked this drama, and I'm very glad I watched it despite so many reviews/comments saying it was horrible ! The acting was top notch, I loved everyone in this little group of friends (Hae Yi's family and Sun Ho's mom too !!), it was funny and some parts made me tear up even, honestly I didn't expect that but it was for the best, some important life lessons were addressed and even if it is fiction, it can still greatly resonate with the viewer behind the screen. I admit I didn't know what to expect from the whole "cheering" activity (first time I see it represented in a drama, also quite different from the american style, and very enjoyable after all) but the OST was AWESOME and the energy among the team was so sincere and spontaneous, you can definitely see the actors 100% enjoyed themselves. Of course I also think the love triangle went on for way too long, but even then, I couldn't hate Sun Ho and I still liked his character in the end (I started watching this with the endgame couple already in mind lol so it was surely less frustrating for me) moreover all the couples were extra cute and the friendships even more so !! I also loved that there wasn't any unwanted jealousy between the female characters, it was sooo refreshing. Of course, I agree that the mystery part wasn't very thrilling, but I can understand why it was added. Maybe 12 episodes would have been more suitable for this story, but it was still enjoyable from start to finish. All in all, despite some flaws, Cheer-up is a drama full of energy, youthfulness and love in all its forms ! That's why I encourage you to give it a try :)
They're not a couple in the end ?? I thought it was a happy ending I planned to watch this only because of that…
Thank you so much !! I was afraid they would be forced to break up due to the distance from what I understood from previous comments here but if it's not the case then I wil gladly watch it !
