So I am kinda confused at some parts of this drama... Yes I skipped some scenes (which i tend to do in historical…
Basically what Crlene said! I'll just add a little more detail:

Yuwen Yue is part of the Yuwen family, which is a powerful family that's connected to the Wei Kingdom spy agency. His address is "gongzi/公子" which means the son of a noble family. It should probably translate to "(young) master." He's known as Yue gongzi.

Yan Xun is the son of the Duke (侯爷) of Yanbei, and a hostage in the capital of Wei to keep Yanbei from rebelling. His address is "shizi/世子" which means "first son/heir of a noble house." People refer to him as "Yanbei shizi" which basically means Crown Prince/Heir of Yanbei.

Yuan Song is the 13th Prince of Wei and the son of Consort Wei. His address is "dianxia/殿下" which is "Your Highness" for princes and princesses. So he's known as Yuwang dianxia as Yuwang is his princely name.

Just watched the first ep, and it seems a little... weird. Maybe I'll wait until more eps are out, then skim watch a bit more.

can someone explain to me why tv version n eng sub version are different? (read from the comments below). and…
There's two versions, the uncut version (未刪減版) and the TV/advanced version (先行版). The subs are on the uncut version. The TV versions always progress faster because scenes get cut out (because of censorship, timing/number of eps for TV, etc.), but they can't make the episode length shorter, so they add more scenes onto the end to make up for the time that they cut earlier.

It's called 心之焰 (xin zhi yan) by G.E.M. It roughly translates to "Flame of the Heart."

I guess the time travelling part was removed because of the ban. Why did China banned it anyway?
"Fantasy" as in xianxia and well, fantasy, not time travel or rebirth lol. They're all different genres/subgenres. Time travel has been gone for years, so it's not like the government can go harder on them when they don't exist anymore.

China is very strict on distorting history in general, especially with fantasy elements. For example, the names of the people in the upcoming A Lifetime Love have been changed because the love interest is a real war god in China, and the love interest in Sound of the Desert was a real general in history. I think fantasy dramas will be fine, as long as they don't have characters who are based on real historical figures.

Is anyone frustrated with the acting? I find it's sub-par, especially after watching Eternal Love.
I find LGX's acting stiff, but other than him, it seems to be good enough to watch without cringing. But then again, other than Mark Chao, I didn't find the acting in Eternal Love to be that exceptional either.

Omg noooo, but he seems so nice. That happened in Glory of Tang Dynasty and General & I, but I was always on the right ship then because the second leads seemed so fake-creepy-nice there.

I can't with Sheng Mei, shes no better than her mother, shes demanding of men and partial to how woman should…
Jin Dong goes like... pretty heavy with those one-sided love undertones imo.

Tbh, I don't find Jin Dong conventionally handsome, but he's so charismatic I'm just like *heart-eyes* every time. I've been considering reading the book, but I don't know if I can accept this new image of Tan Zongming.

" in the books, Tan Zongming is not some handsome dude, he's like a fat, kinda old(?), typical business man"

Omg you just shattered my entire world, because I ship Andi with him more than anyone else in the drama.

This is a super old article, but I read it, and I highly disagree with the Korean Version of Fated to Love You.…
I prefer Meteor Garden overall as well, although HYD comes a close second. I thought that the although BoF was the most polished because of the high budget and how it's more recent, the characters, messages and plot really lacked the spirit of the original.

Title Angelo
This plot has parallels / is a Taiwanese reboot of the Korean drama "Thank you", starring Jang Hyuk…
Sounds like you're a huge fan of the original, but this is a Chinese reboot not a Taiwanese one. Also, Taiwanese dramas are usually around the same length as a Korean drama. Many only have 12-16 episodes, rarely go over 25.

Remakes are very normal. Taiwanese, Chinese, Japanese and Korean dramas are stylistically very different. It makes sense to remake a popular drama/plot for a local audience, and in the end, everyone makes money. Korea's remade Scarlet Heart, In Time With You, and were among the last to remake Hana Kimi and Hana Yori Dango.

Ended up skim watching all of it, and well, while it was entertaining, I found it hard to take anything seriously. Out of all the men, I ended up liking Mo Yuan the best for some reason. 6/10
