Ok I'm late on this one but I've watched 6 episodes so far and I'm in love. HOW IS THIS A FLOP IN KOREA? I just saw the ratings, I wanna cry... TT
P.S. : countries have a right to their tastes, I'm not saying they have no right to dislike it, but I'm so shocked. This drama is so sweet. I thought this was a hit.
Couldn't get past the 1st episode LOL! Thank you for the review! I saw U-Know in Heading to the ground (fun to watch) and I Order You (horrible). Good singer / dancer, but very average actor. This is coming from a DBSK fan.
I found this not to be anywhere's as good as Tunnel, right away in the 1st episode our main female lead drastically…
I thought he was drunk and half asleep and she and faked sleeping with him. I didn't think they really had sex, but oh well I could be wrong. Didn't like this drama at all either and couldn't finish it, what were the last sentences in the last episode ? You may have forgotten exactly but what were the ideas ? I'm curious...
Last year I dropped this drama at episode 3. Then my love for Lee Sang Yoon made me want to give it a try again this month. I had also checked the ratings in Korea and it was a hit, with 20+% of local viewers. Since I often like the same stuff as the locals, I assumed I had given up too fast. Dropped it again at episode 6 and I'm done. The characters lack depth in terms of emotions and expressions (which apparently was addressed by LSY). While the female lead kicks ass she lacks vulnerability. The male lead is always hesitant and lost, some sort of faux "rebel" who is mostly talk. I'm also sick of this back and forth between the office, isolated or dangerous places with crooked guys, hospitals and hotel rooms. Besides Jeong Il, the other two young dudes are indecisive and annoying. Dong Jun can't make up his mind half the time and Hyun Soo (Young Joo's ex-fiance) is always that dumfounded fool. I was just sick of the vibe of the whole production. How this stuff was a hit is amazing to me. For Makjang lovers give MONEY FLOWER a try, now that will keep you on your toes.
You can't talk about morality of having more than one woman WITHOUT taking into consideration historical context.…
@Kdramalife - I don't expect us to agree on everything, I'm glad though that you didn't attack me just because of those disagreements. On the cheating part, I already stated my piece in earlier posts. I had a discussion with someone else about Boon Yi being chosen and missed that part where the mom had chosen her, and admitted to that mistake of mine. Agree to disagree on his public behavior though, and other things already stated, I don't like him as a master, sorry. And as I said previously several times, I never once defended Sharon's actions, as I wrote that I found them inexcusable in my 1st post, but I simply stated (and still believe this after 12 episodes) that I could understand why she felt jealous as a wife. However her anger was definitely misdirected. :)
After hearing all the high praises about this drama of course I had to watch it, but I feel so sorely disappointed…
You're so right about Kim Rae Won's character (in the present). Like, he could have been a good guy with flaws, that would be NORMAL (like the guy from Suspicious Partner, that drama disappointed me, but the main male character was really good imo), like being messy or always late or difficult to deal with at work, something? He is always saying the right things at the right time, 99.8% of his decisions are right, he's a perfect lover, awesome boss, philantrophist, handsome, rich, smart, fit, great fashion sense, immaculate teeth, like... is he even human ? What is his weakness ? His main shortcoming ? This is why I find their love story boring. It's not alive. He's like Mr Solve it all. Not saying they should fight like dogs, but what about having strong disagreements and learning to navigate together through those difficulties? Sharon (and Baek Hee) stole the show, I agree.
So... I'm stealing "His royal hotness" for sure. Loved your review, and you're so right about the female lead. I didn't think that far but many things that I couldn't pinpoint bothered me about her. Yeah, a black belt being this weak, going out at night when she is in danger LMAO!!! I also thought that moving in with a complete stranger (though she stalked him for two years, she didn't know him) was unrealistic. And then inviting the killer to their house, knowing that they had doubts about him - how freaking smart!!!!!
LOL. I've never seen a 1/10 review before. Really enjoyed reading yours. I felt just as frustrated, and I had a hard time with the female lead being unable to convey deep emotions. She's good for comedy, not for tragedy.
He didn't exactly say two people would die, he said there was a PROBABILITY that 2 people in that room would…
I was about to say that. He said "maybe". And then he dreamt of Ji Wook and told him that "everything would be ok" which means he could foresee that the 2nd person would survive,
On Ep 31, and I'm sooo perplexed by Viki viewers calling Bong Hee all kinds of names and saying Ji Wook has…
I agree with you I see where she was coming from. Plus, it would have affected Ji Wook's parents, her mom, and Ji Wook's reputation yet again because those cases were public (a prosecutor dating a murderer, whose father also murdered his parents - no less). Ji Wook predicted she would do this, understandably, this is why before it happened he told her to never leave him. I think people didn't get the cultural aspect of her decision (family honor) and all the implications of staying with him, from her perspective.
And even went on and blamed him for it... "I was thirsty for your attention... I didn't feel good enough.." Basically, if he was giving her more attention, she wouldn't have cheated with his best friend. How about just breaking up ? Shameless.
P.S. : countries have a right to their tastes, I'm not saying they have no right to dislike it, but I'm so shocked. This drama is so sweet. I thought this was a hit.
