so happy that they're finally letting woo do hwan show more of his potential now... i'm really glad they showed more of him in episode 5 aside from him just standing around most of the time and now that the two parallel worlds are colliding a lot more, i hope we get more development and plot progression too
won't lie i really am mostly watching for woo do hwan after being a long time fan of his, but this isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be. sure the progression is slow so far and it's taking me a while to warm to the leads' chemistry but the cinematography, the fact that i have a lot of questions forming about the different timelines that i want to know the answer to and the ending of ep 4 have me intrigued. maybe i'm just a sucker for plots with different timelines. or just whipped for woo do hwan.

That's my thought too... I don't like how fake some of the effects look. Also on a similar note, for some dramas (not all but it's pretty noticeable when it's the case) the heavy makeup/editing makes the actors' skin look super pale and washed out... it's unnatural and kinda off putting to look at (unless the character is a vampire or something). I've noticed it's more common in Chinese dramas but I'll refrain from going on about beauty standards from the perspective of Chinese media lol (being Chinese myself I have my own strong opinions on this).
Great start to the drama and I'm glad to see Seo In Guk back too! I can't comment on how dark it is so far or compare it to the original drama but you definitely get that unsettling feeling as you watch. There's definitely a lot to be uncovered about the plot and the first episode leaves you wondering a lot of things so consider me intrigued

It isn't really a "code" name as such. As Eugene is an American soldier despite originally being from Joseon, our female lead Ae Shin grows more and more curious about him after they meet during the US army arrives in Joseon.
She begins to learn English after hearing that her friend is taking English lessons and in English, "Mister" and "Sunshine" are two of the words she begins to associate with Eugene as their romance develops, hence the title. He's never addressed directly as Mr Sunshine by anyone in the show but it's more how Ae Shin views him and the symbolism tied into that.

They really do have a talent for showing raw emotions in this drama... I admit I wasn't too sold on the pairing to begin with but as the drama progressed my initial doubts have faded over time - both actors do a spectacular job in subtle expression so that they don't need any grand kiss scenes or much skinship for it to have such an impact. The delivery of certain lines in the drama so far have also contributed to how convincing the pairing is.
