That ending is far too unrealistic... I've elaborated more in an honest review, however The Great Seducer was... not-so great.

I'd like to start this after my exams but the main thing putting me off is the love triangle, so I'm likely going to wait for it to finish airing first before I decide to watch.

I haven't seen the original series so I can't comment on any comparisons but I'm enjoying this so far after seeing the first episode

I can even accept Sooji to be a good person but not Sejoo, absolutely and completely HATE him nowhe is bitchy…
Glad to see someone else agrees... I liked him up until last week's episodes and now he's too blinded by his puppy love and insistent defending of Soo Ji to care about anything else. Even Soo Ji seems to have sobered up and gained some kind of sense of consciousness about it this week, but Se Joo has never tried to see the other side of things or reached out to Shi Hyun at all until this week where it's basically too late, since he's already gone to spill to Tae Hee.

I feel as though they've left themselves with far too much to wrap up in the final 4 episodes for it to really tie together in a decent ending (but then again the messy writing hasn't been leaving me with too high hopes to begin with). I'm mainly still watching since I feel like I've gotten to far to just not finish it until the end to see how it does end.

This drama let the Shi Hyun fall quickly in love with Tae Hee. It is not persuaded. He seduced many innocent and…
Because she makes it clear from the start that she's not interested in him to begin with and rejects his initial advances unlike the girls he's previously seduced, so he sees that as a challenge that he's curious to pursue, so it sparks his interest.

Calm down, I never brought it up to such an extreme as to saying anyone was "evil". I merely used the word "dislike" which is in no way as heavily weighted as flat out calling anyone a villain.

You're totally blowing my words out of proportion and taking my words out of context. I'm firmly entitled to my own opinion of not liking a fictional character and refusing to excuse manipulative behaviour. I have not taken anything out on the actress or any real people.

You're really something if you think being controlling and messing around with people's lives is excusable behaviour and you're making it out as though people have to resort to killing people in order to be "bad". Using the excuse of "she's experienced this herself" is a laughable argument . If someone has been bullied it still doesn't make it ok for them to bully someone else in the future. Same logic applies.

I stand by what I'm saying. If you disagree with that, good for you but you're really not doing any favours in trying to tear me down for not liking a character.

We're meant to dislike the character if you look at the original adaptations, so if anything that means Moon Ga Young is doing a good job. All of Soo Ji's actions have been driven by selfish motives and whilst some of her reasons for doing so is understandable it doesn't make it any less selfish, especially where it involves manipulating her friends and meddling with other people's lives. There's no real excuse for taking it out on other people regardless of how much you're going through even if it's some unhealthy "coping mechanism". Se Joo and Shi Hyun are by no means innocent either, but their actions have not always been self-serving.

Don't get me wrong, I really liked her in the initial episodes but as the episodes go on, more sides of her are revealed and her real selfish nature shows. I feel as though that was the intention with the writers, that at first glance it looks like a really close-knit, admirable friendship but there's much more to it than that to the point where it's unhealthy.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by Joy's acting in the recent episodes. It wasn't outstanding by any means,…
If I didn't already dislike Soo Ji enough from last week's episodes, I definitely don't like her now. All of her actions are driven by self-interest, even towards those who are genuinely kind towards her, like Se Joo (you can tell he truly cares for her so much). I really feel for Se Joo and Shi Hyun, who are just blindly loyal to her to a fault and fall for/overlook her manipulative ways. Whilst I thought her character was complex at first, I feel as though I just grow bored of her selfish ways, such as how she started the bet in the first place (for fun and out of revenge, even though it should be that guy who she should direct her anger towards, not Tae Hee).

However, that being said, the character I hate the most is without a doubt Shi Hyun's dad for sure. I can't understand his motives at all and there seems to not be a single good bone in his body. Not only do I find myself bored of the plot involving the parents, but it feels very bland and tacked on for drama purposes to complicate things between the leads. I don't want the focus to turn on this side plot...

That being said, I liked that the scene of Tae Hee with her dad gave an insight into her interpretations of love and how her parents' relationship has shaped that. No wonder she puts on a front of being so strong and against love and relationships when in actuality she's using that as a defence mechanism (hence why she managed to fall for Shi Hyun so quickly) to try and distance herself from becoming hurt and getting her heart broken like her father got his broken. I applaud her for abandoning that guy on that "interview date" so quickly.

As for Shi Hyun... I really feel for him. Woo Do Hwan impresses me with his acting as always, and it's so prominent that he's always alone and so reliant on acceptance from Soo Ji and Se Joo that it's really no surprise that he's so vulnerable to be manipulated by Soo Ji because he has nobody else to count on. I really don't see how anyone can ship them together at this point. On another note, I find the scenes he has with the grandmas very endearing. They've got your back, Shi Hyun!

P.S. Am I the only one who noticed that split-second TVXQ cameo in episode 12? It amused me as I caught up with the episodes right after streaming their new MV. Their comeback is amazing as per usual, they never disappoint.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by Joy's acting in the recent episodes. It wasn't outstanding by any means, but I don't think she's as bad as people make her out to be. However, the editing of the drama feels a little messy in places still.

I have more thoughts on the characters/plot but I'll comment in a separate reply so that I can tag it as a spoiler.

Thanks for the article! I'll pretty much repeat my thoughts posted on the drama's page but I haven't seen any of the original adaptations, so I don't have comparisons to make in that regard.

I'm currently up to date on the episodes and have mixed feelings about this drama, as while the initial episodes felt a little messy as they were trying to set the tone, this week's felt like they'd gained a little more momentum.

I'm not sure how I feel about the romance moving so quickly, but whilst I liked Soo Ji's character a lot in the initial eps, I feel like she's becoming more irritating as her true colours show (though I understand that's part of her character, and kudos to Moon Ga Young for her portrayal). As for Joy's acting, it doesn't stand out as being anything spectacular but it doesn't bother me enough to detract from the drama so that's good enough for me, and I think I'm warming more to her character in this week's episodes.

Woo Do Hwan and Kim Min Jae are doing a great job, though I may be biased given that I watched for Do Hwan to begin with. I don't think enough has happened for me to really form too much of a solid opinion, though I've definitely seen better but I've also seen worse, and it's entertaining enough to watch for now to see how things play out. From what I've heard, I don't want this to follow the original adaptation in terms of the ending either.

I ship Shi Hyun with Soo Ji more so far lmao... But I really like the main trio, even if the plot feels a little all over the place at the moment. I'm probably going to have to consult a recap to get a better idea of what's going on as the pacing of these initial episodes has been pretty odd.
