As I exchange thoughts below with you I understand your feelings and I explained my POV about the plot line ,…
thats exactly what i mean tho like obviously gay ppl arent saints but to ONLY portray them as such is. bad. like ive been saying it wouldnt be a problem if they balanced it would with another good lgbt character however minor you know. but the Only gay person being a monster is so ://

Hey, firstly i would like to say sorry if today's scene has deeply hurt you or it made you feel insecure or lose…
lol im not at a point where a silly drama will make me question my sexuality but whether it was their intentions or not ppl r still interpreting it this way and its still hurting ppl so its wrong. there was no point of adding this in to begin with so.
also being sk being a conservative country isnt an excuse for korean scriptwriters to make almost every lgbt character they write their punching bag so there's really no point in bringing that up. china's an even more conservative country but they make censorsed gay shows without offending anyone (its what i said. i'd rather have no gay ppl than such a nasty one).
again thou the target audience here are clearly cishet people. a lot of you are cishet so obviously this joke just seems funny and harmless which thou kind of insensitive is understandable. but the joke was aimed at the lgbt community and if we dont find it funny it obviously isnt. i hope i explained this well? i'm trying to explain why this is offensive and plain bad in the best way i can its just. very unnecessary.

but honestly even making the only gay character on the show such a disgusting man was also homophobic. that dude…
yeah yeah if they just CLARIFIED that instead of letting ppl assume and interpret it this way. like this isnt the kind of subject they should be leaving to interpretation

who is homophobic,? it is normal nature reaction + is dark comedy, Vincenzo is a straight character obviously…
yeah i get that its okay. i just think that its very unnecessary to include things like this and make a comedy out of it you know. like if this was a straight man it wouldnt be funny at all bc he Hurt ppl but now bc the assailant is a gay man theyve shifted the narrative to a lighter, funnier one and its just. not cool.
On Vincenzo Mar 14, 2021

i also want to point out that homophobia isnt just a violent or repulsed reaction to gay ppl it also includes microaggressions (like vincenzo did) where straight ppl show vehemently averse reactions to the suggestion of them being (acting in this case) gay. this what younger audiences watch and are influenced by and these microaggressions play a huge role in culminating internalized homophobia in younger ppl. like even if you're sure straight it doesnt mean you should be reacting so violently to someone suggesting you might be not. it's okay to just say you're not there isnt any reason for you to get uncomfortable?
+ making the only gay character in your writing a pushy, abusive, stereotypical or predatory person is inherently homophobic. there's no way to go about this but either don't write about gay ppl at all or balance it out so the only lgbt character isn't a terrible person.
i feel like if the audience would make a fuss about it instead of accepting it as (poor) comedy, scriptwriters would acknowledge this as a problem and be mindful of how they portray the lgbt community. bc trust me as a gay person seeing the only gay character being such an ass in almost every kdrama really just makes me feel like shit and ruins everything for me. its unnecessary and insensitive and if you're going to write a character from a minority group you NEED to take their feelings into account. all these gay ppl in kdramas just feel like comedy fodder for everyone except actual gay ppl :((
also, if you're lgbt and didn't get offended i'm glad it doesnt bother you really. but ik i'm not the only person constantly bothered by this it really makes ppl feel like shit. i'd rather never see a gay person in kdramas than see only nasty, disgusting ppl labelled as gay.

it isnt just sk's problem its a problem in most asian countries even places where gay marriage is legal. again i dont mean that they have to make plots with gay ppl what i mean is if youre going to make one of the villains gay at least make one of the good guys lgbt too so the only portrayal of gay ppl isnt negative
thou frankly sk is now producing bls if they can do that for money i dont see why they cant make a good side lgbt character who doesnt seem like a nasty predator

no no fkdnfjkds i understand how u feel ppl can take this differently. i didnt enjoy it bc of how uncomfortable the whole situation was making me from that gay dude being a bastard and vincenzo's whole theatrics.
i feel like if they clarified that vincenzo was disgusted bc the dude himself was nasty then this wouldnt be a problem at all but instead they left it up to (pretty apparent) interpretation and that's what made me so uncomfortable with it

to explain myself before anyone comes at me. vincenzo knew that dude's wife was flirting with him but he didnt…
no i mean his initial reaction being an outburst and then the way hes constantly shown to be a good actor thru out the show (+ after he found out about his mom his attitude changed) im saying it was unnecessary to show that bc it wasnt really funny but also potentially hurt ppl

dark comedy tackles topics considered taboo homosexuality isnt a taboo its just ppl's prejudice against us. dark comedy is about things like crime, death, cheating and stuff not about others sexualities
also yeah that part is also what i've added bc that man himself was disgusting as fuck anyone would want to beat the shit out of him + they've shown vincenzo as someone with pretty strong morals so i get why he'd be opposed to it i get what your saying
what i mean is that they didnt have to overdo it to the point where vincenzo looked disgusted at the idea of pretending to be gay you know. bc it might not seem a lot to straight ppl but as a gay person that looked awful to me. like as a lesbian if i had to pretend to like a man for a case maybe i'd pull a face but not all that disgusted drama?? like my life was gonna end or smth lol
also the fact that hes their only canon gay character is in itself very homophobic kdramas always do this the only gay person is portrayed as a predator

i pointed that out actually its a very common trope in tv and it makes me feel like shit each time that exaggerated reaction made me feel like someone dirty for being gay lol

yeah i do understand that but that exaggerated reaction of his was homophobic. like i get that he wouldnt want to do it esp with the kind of bastard that dude was i think even if vincenzo liked men he would have hated it. but this show airs on tv and their portrayal of gay ppl is what such a large audience watches. and its harmful and makes actual gay ppl feel like shit. comedy at the expense of others isnt comedy its just bad.

but honestly even making the only gay character on the show such a disgusting man was also homophobic. that dude deserves the death row i hate him so much why do they only make these kind of ppl gay it keeps perpetuating the notion that gay ppl are predators and its so so fucking bad why why did they do that

to explain myself before anyone comes at me. vincenzo knew that dude's wife was flirting with him but he didnt seem to mind even played along with her for the sake of the trial but all that drama and theatrics when it was a man was very. homophobic.
like if he was being this way bc that bastard was an assailant i'd have no problem with it but he obviously fears no one his problem really was just pretending to like men and god was that necessary how is that even funny.
we're in 2021 but they're still relying on homphobia to make a plotline funny bc aah str8 man absolutely hates, cant stand pretending to like men for a few minutes. characters that are like oh i have no problem with gay ppl but IM NOT GAY AND I CANT PRETEND TO BE are also homophobic
(this again isnt to say that theres anything wrong with him for being a str8 guy i mean the overacting and disgust was homophobic)

I love how Dongsik tease Ju Woon everytime he's suspicious with him.
the tension when they fight. like in ep 7 when they were arguing and it was so intense and i didnt even realize till jaeyi called and the tension broke fjkdsfdk
On Beyond Evil Mar 14, 2021
Title Beyond Evil
juwon IS an annoying bastard but that's really the charm of his character. tho the main reason he comes off as annoying is bc the rest of the cast is like a family and he's an outsider, that keeps tossing suspicion on one after the other and since it sets him apart from the rest he comes off as an obstacle. tbh so far the time i've been most attached to his character was when him and dongsik fought in ep 5 or 6? and dongsik confronts him about the real reason he was so obsessed with solving this case and then i finally had a proper reason to root for his character (its hard to root for someone who obsesses over smth when you don't know the reason why. i feel like that's why most ppl seemed to find his character annoying).

the show really took its time fleshing out each of the characters and i love that. they showed you enough to invest in the characters then revealed their true motives so by that point you end up growing really attached to them.

anyway the scriptwriter was brilliant for coming up with a character like dongsik. there's layers to this dude he's become one of my favorite characters of all time. jaeyi's my second favorite here she's so admirable.

ngl thou...the dongsik-juwon chemistry keeps throwing me off. they have insane chemistry ik this isnt a romance and its a kdrama so they wont even go there but this enemies-to-tentative-friends-to-partners-to-lovers thing would have been so good. jaeyi too...she gives me lesbian vibes it'd be nice to see her get a gf.

man i dont believe this bastard...if he's really cheating on her.
her dynamic with the sml is cute for now but if she's going to end up with him i hope they'll build their relationship more first. she clearly has this insecurity from her previous two relationships so i hope they get to know each other really well before any of the dating stuff comes up.
