since the watch list is only as accurate as the user's updates, it then depends on what is updated to be seen by others.
with TV dramas watching, reviews and comments etc, there is always a variable element of what is available, what your mood is like on the day, ability to recall and relate to drama plot, binge watching or weekly pursue also provides different experiences etc.
i am by far a purist and so there isnt a certain genre that i faithfully stick to. thus i will bravely watch any drama with a possible good story or a good time from any country.
commenting and updating on mdl is nothing more than just sharing experience or casual chit chat with like minded drama viewing folks.

In my comment here I cant find any references to the drama a girl like me. So I am not sure why you are using that as reference. But a girl like me was great for me because the production and costumes are of high quality, the support cast are colorful and the FL isnt some silly cute naïve character. Its afterall my review, my time spent, my opinions, it is not a job, just a hobby.
I have seen some of your comments here as well and you are typically critical of most chinese dramas and obviously you have a high drama drop rate. So maybe you will really enjoy storm eye /s. But for me, the hook in storm eye is weak, because from the start I am already not curious or interested in the characters because they are just not build up right.

very high quality production even for a drama, from demolition of the plaza, burning of the vineyard, crashing of a truck into the eatery or burning of the rdu factory. sometimes, i cant believe its just a tv drama series with such wow scenes.
this drama has so many cool and wow factors, every episode is like a movie. excellent time spent so far for all 4 episodes. especially episode 4 when the victim's family had some sort of vengeance and the big boss shown up.

This drama is boring period. I am posting it so that others might be warned about it and not waste their time with it. It is afterall a drama review and commenting platform. However every viewer will still watch what they like or wish to, my opinions, reviews or comments wont change that.
I am also not always negative on chinese dramas, as I have also posted alot of reviews and comments on those chinese dramas that are actually good. You would have known this if you hadnt just joined a month ago based on your trolling ID.
I could also easily break it down for you why it is boring, since you said I have not watched it.
But from episode 1, this thief coming into the country gives the national security the run around and only to be found by ML and his partner in his booked hotel - duh. Episode 2 -3 proceed to then steal information with a sticker under a cup (there's no logic to this, how this sticker steals information and from where? how to store the information in a sticker? lol is this now a sci fi?). Then to use past history and experience to determine that the thief is stalling for time so that the deal is dead. So what do they do? give the thief a sense of the wrong time lol, isnt this method watching water boiling? There is really no difference between 15 mins later, 1 hour later or 3 hours later, when the idea for the thief is to delay till the deal is dead before negotiating for a sentencing deal, so a smart thief that got cheated by time on the agent's watches.
In 5 episodes the villain behind the scene was still not caught but instead given more background story and character. Seriously for international viewers, this is just beating around the bush, I enjoyed 2 episodes of vincenzo more than 5 episodes of storm eye.
watching the trailers, i feel that this series will do well, due to seven, the strong support cast and director. so i am excited for this series.
at the end of 2020, forever love was screened and it was one of my favorite drama that did so well, as well as the story of xanxi palace which were from the same director.
even thou i am not a fan of wallace chung works, i feel that if this drama plot and focus are more on seven, the supporting concubines, schemes and family ties, then it should be worth the chase to watch.

china patriotism does not offend me, as i have stated that dramas have the right to produce however they want, just that as an international viewer i will not WASTE my TIME to watch it and obviously on a drama commenting platform, i would highlight it. learn to read, it is not corrupting or influencing me or changing me into a china communist, it is just not my type of drama and thus stating that i will not waste my time to watch it is not offence, it is just my opinion, my usage of time.

as with dramas these days, it is not the number of episodes that wins awards. chinese dramas needs to reduce the episodes and instead focus on telling the story and building the suspense etc to capture the viewers but chinese dramas just likes to fill itself with unnecessary filler scenes and product advertisements.
of course episode 1 doesnt make or break a drama and my post was just an initial impression comment, it is not a review. but based on episode 1 impression, i would rather be chasing something else. so unless it changes pace for the next few episodes, this is a drop for me.

didnt you read that I have seen episode 1 and my initial feeling was this is a mixed bag. however it is not good so far since there is no excitement in me to even bother about episode 2. but i will watch it as a filler if theres nothing else.

on chinese patriotism in dramas, this is not uncommonly found in soooooo many of chinese dramas, i am not saying that it is not allowed, i am just saying that it would then ruin the drama for international viewers, because the last thing i would want to do with my time is to watch a drama about china patriotism.
14 episodes in and there is always an anticipation for this series everyday. Maybe it is because how cheeky the ML and FL are, the OST also helps in this series.
In 2021, after a girl like me / 我就是这般女子, this is another nice light hearted and historical costume rom com. Chemistry is also above average for ML and FL.
episode 1 is such a mixed bag, when comparing to korean or hong kong dramas of such genre. the pace in this drama feels slower and even thou the ML and FL are classmates of sort, there isnt any obvious sparks or chemistry which hints that romance isnt going to be a high priority in this drama.
in the 40 mins of watching this drama, it has not gotten my full attention as i drift in and out of it, so the hook is rather weak here. cinematography is fine with a yellowish palette but the dialog and scenes just lacks punch. even at the end of episode 1, i am not excited or searching for trailers for episode 2. for a suspense drama this is a weak start

yup and in the hall of the house then of cos he got caught by the son, to keep this secret, the dad then decides to get rid of the FL robot ... this is such a bad, controversial and senseless plot. especially when this family got 3 kids.
The only cons are the voice dubbing of sandra ma's character and the less than spectacular action /special effects.
However the hook is strong from episode 1, from a jewelry shop robbery. No complains on the cast and acting abilities as well.
