I thought so too. It's bad editing maybe or they forgot to include a part to make us understand what the world…
I thought its just me that didnt get the lore. Then they kept throwing more and more fractions into the mix and I just lost interest. So if its a wuxia, fantasy or fighting drama, then that is badly lacking too.
IQIYI had a romance tag to it too, so I was looking at the ML and FL chemistry, yet its failed. Even the eye drop tears isnt pretty from FL when ML was forced out of the village.
Episode 2 and already the fighting is bad, 1 shot, 1 move, 1 ultimate = dead. Keeps snowing and every conversation carries some kind of background music for no reason. So i am unsure what to make of this drama yet, but its surely not a wuxia one, that anyone will fantasied about watching for the fight scenes.
Although ML and FL are supposed to to have grown up together, the chemistry and feeling is far from that. I got to admit that I havent seen any of adam fan or cheng xiao's drama or series so this is the first time I am seeing them in a drama, but I am not sold. So from my first impression of this pairing, on their script and dialogue, I am not feeling the romance.
Also after watching 2 episodes and being chinese, I still dont understand what is going on. Some of what I dont understand is clearly from the lack of background on what's this world is like, etc what is early natal opening realm or 开元境 , like how many levels are there? or why they worship the moon with a badge and releasing lanterns for. Its also just confusing, not to understand who are all these characters that they just throw at us. I kinda feel like I am missing a certain part of this drama, etc is there a season 1 of this world that I had missed?
I'm a huge fan of Zhang Ziyi but no lies her age can't hide. Same for Zhou Xun, she's my fave too, and her acting…
So how can facts be toxic? I am just stating the facts that she is too old to play a teenage princess, which you also agree.
Yes they are humans, but they are also actress and they got to pick the right roles for themselves. These are known as career decisions, its the same for real life, if one has aged so much and cant handle pressures or stress at work without getting a heart attack, its time to pick a new career path or retire.
Its fine to be a fan, but if the actress has aged so much and still tries to play cute and pretend to be a teenager, then its not only harmful to herself but also to those watching. Its like watching a granny cosplay sailormoon, just not my cup of tea.
I'm a huge fan of Zhang Ziyi but no lies her age can't hide. Same for Zhou Xun, she's my fave too, and her acting…
For me it is the same as "The Legend of Xiao Chuo" , greater cast than this series even but still I just cant get the hook or attachment to the characters. So its dropped after 4 episodes. Every time zhang zi yi comes on screen I just cant help but look at the age, the sunken cheeks, the wrinkles etc.
68 episodes will also be a huge time consumption and commitment. Thus my interest level is only 3 or 4 due to length of series as well. I have completed long series too like ashes of love or yanxi palace but it needs to be easy to digest. Its just harder whenever the FL appears and i feel an uncomfortable lump in my throat.
6 episodes in so far, the cinematography looks decent. War scenes are just average, just looks too smoky and not on the same level as some of the epic war scenes of the same genre. Fight scenes are also not on the level of some wuxia greatness. What I am saying is there isnt that wow factor like say "ever night", "bloody romance", "300", "game of thrones", "spartacus" etc
Zhang zi yi looks really aged/old in this series, she surely doesnt look like the character's role of a teenage princess. So its kinda cringe when she tries to act young. Even surrounding herself with older cast also does not hide this fact.
Alot of talk and chatter too about politics, the princess marriage etc. Costumes and sets looks polished. But I am not sure if I can survive another 62 episodes of this, as I cant find the hook for me to continue watching, especially when I cant find any attachments or liking to any of the cast.
same but a little different. Im act kinda lowkey mad they made soo jin like him. Shes suck a cool character i…
I feel that in another type of drama, soojin's character can be a main female lead. Studies well, smart, upright, quite sociable, fights too but flawed with stress over parental issues.
Suho being childhood friends with her should be the obvious choice, I just hope the friendship between them doesnt end just because Soojin likes him.
I just hope that the rest of the drama doesnt really just revolves around Jugyung too much.
In spite of the split 2 teams of suho vs seojun for jugyung, with arguments based on the drama and webtoon. I am rooting for team soojin.
Thou it is not possible but in the drama or webtoon, but I am secretly rooting for soo jin and suho to be a couple. Because I just feel that in the world of true beauty, everyone just deserves someone and shouldnt be left lonely.
But the drama pace is great with alot of comedy titbits, easter eggs and special guest showing up. The cinematography and visuals are stunning too. The cast for the drama is also close to perfection and looks the part.
However the webtoon is just too dramatic for my taste.
I think they recognized that Guan Yue might be a really good actor I think she gets tons of screen time from begining…
Not sure if I should add spoilers here for My BF story but the rich FL gets stronger later on in that series. Especially once the family became bankrupt and later on its the rich FL that starts standing up for Nini, she becomes fierce too.
Not gonna lie, when the family went bankrupt, it was emotional. Rich FL's dad suicide, they were planning to go italy and they were going to send the grandmom to an old folks home but cecilia lis/ nan su said no and promised to stay to look after her grandmom. Its trigger moments like this that makes a drama worth the time.
There is without a doubt that both FL in that series can seriously act and are pretty criers. So you will see in that series the rise, fall and growth of both FL. Not sure about the ending in that drama but i hope its clean.
But at least its really focused on both the FL instead of dear missy where 40% is all about guan yue.
True to that. I started watching this because of the cinematography & beginning story is really interesting. Then…
For my BF story you need to brave thru the early episodes when the FL leads are playing naive (hated the cringe). After that it gets better as they are being hit with reality. At least in that series there's very strong acting in emotional situations even for the support cast.
Only 18 episodes in and I feel that its already worth the time spent. Having seen the HK movie of the same name, I can tell you that there are more twist, turns and emotional situations still.
This series is just full of loopholes in the story so far and only 14 episodes in.
Also as predicted the ML cant actually kiss the FL (due to real life marriage) as shown in recent episodes, ML's cheesy confession to FL in the rain, starts fake angled kiss with ML's back to camera, in the same episode FL's ex boyfriend remembers the time spent with FL and the real kisses between them coming on screen just further highlight the editing and flaw of this series.
Its year 2021 and still series will cast main actors and actresses that cant put their lips together in a romance drama and try to sell it.
True to that. I started watching this because of the cinematography & beginning story is really interesting. Then…
Feels like false advertisement, put 2 beautiful actress, claims to be about their friendship then proceed to show us all about Guan yue. Like my fast forward button doesnt work.
Thats why there is regret over this series, like i got scammed out of my time. At least my BF story is turning the corner since episode 12.
I think they recognized that Guan Yue might be a really good actor I think she gets tons of screen time from begining…
The start of my BF story is truly disappointing as both the FL just does not suit playing teenagers but at least it was constantly a story that revolves around the 2 FL. Which will come with alot of twist and turns later on. It really picks up later on for my BF story and the cast acting is at least on point.
For dear missy, the story is just predictable, also too much screen time and build up for Guan yue and ye shou while Yao yuan and Si yi relationship is full of loopholes. Also its not believable that Lu Ke even loves Zhang mang.
I was really rooting for dear missy but as time and episodes goes on its just guan yue again and again, from infatuation with yao yuan, to relationship with ye zhou, giving up her designs, going to japan etc, its just so fleshed out. If i didnt know the casts, I might have thought that Guan yue is the FL.
On episode 22 and I still dont feel the chemistry between ML and FL. 2nd couple Dai fu and linda is alittle more realistic. 3rd couple lou kai xiao and tao xi feels mismatched.
However the early plot is interesting when ML and FL are in the palace.
On episode 32 so far and there's just way too many scenes of the 3rd pairing of Guan Yue and Ye Zhou.
Even the main leads and their couple pairing does not have as much screen time nor is it as fleshed out nor does it show growth and intimacies.
At least for "My best friend story" there's great acting of emotional moments etc when the Nan Sun's family goes bankrupt. It is at least a story that is focused on the main leads instead of Dear Missy that just goes on and on about Guan yue and ye zhou that isnt even the main leads.
There's a level of regret for picking up this series, cos it felt like time wasted, thou the cinematography is great but the story and plot is weak.
Will be interesting to see what sort of chemistry will ML and FL have. Considering that they are both married in real life (Not to each other) there should be alot of angled kisses. However from episode 1, the plot looks somewhat interesting when blossom announced that she will be marrying shu ke instead.
On episode 3 and the acting is average amongst the casts. Voice dubbing is bad for the male lead
Sadly I have to agree that both actresses are not convincing as fresh grads, they exude feminine maturity which…
There's no denying on the acting abilities and reputation of both the FL leads. Just that nothing much is happening in this slow series. Its like watching a reality tv live cam where nothing is happening and yet things are moving around.
So at least for me, there is no hook, attachments or curiosity for the plot or the ending.
Interesting plot, mixing modern and historical costumes and concepts.
On episode 5 and still isnt sold on FL and ML chemistry. Thus unless you are a fan of either leads, the attachment level isnt high. The comedy aspect and timing of both the leads are however interesting to watch.
The hook in this series is also good, it tells both FL and ML history, dreams and development in both modern and historical settings. The side couples arent distracting too.
Direct competition with another ongoing series called Dear missy, since its also about 2 Female leads and their friendship but this series starts from when the 2 FL are younger and still in school.
Personally I prefer the cinematography and costumes of Dear missy so far, but My BFF story has a retro charm to it so far, maybe because it is supposed to be when the cast are younger.
What both these series does have are very good female casts with strong acting skills. But Dear missy have a nicer looking support cast compared to BFF story, while BFF support cast seems to have better acting and editing.
After just 2 episodes debut, the story for this series feels very slow, afterall it is an adaption from a Hong kong 1hr and 45 mins movie with the same name.
4 episodes in and its already on fast forward for me, I feel both FL leads doesnt seem to suit acting young. Jiang Nan Sun will obviously end up with Wang Yong Zheng and Zhu Suo Suo will end up with a sugar daddy in Ye Jin Yan while Xie Hong Zu is her true love

IMO the most surprising couple chemistry in a series for year 2020 goes to Wang an yu and Xiang han zhi in Forever Love /百岁之好,一言为定.
Thats why there is regret over this series, like i got scammed out of my time. At least my BF story is turning the corner since episode 12.

Having watched the HK movie adaption of this series also doesnt help digesting this longer slice of life for me.
So at least for me, there is no hook, attachments or curiosity for the plot or the ending.

Its a decent filler series to pass time.
