Yees !! With you and My Huckleberry Friends are 2 of my favorite dramas of all times :) I just finished this drama and now I'm in such a slump bc idk how to move on hahas

The stories aren't really intertwined but if you watch With You first, you will recognize the side characters that overlap in this one!

I agree that the ending to this drama was really rushed and I would’ve preferred at the very least a few more episodes to develop it. But I would still say I prefer this over ALSB. And I loved ALSB (rewatched it twice in its entirety). For me, their Hs days were extremely precious and well done. The cast did an amazing job of portraying how beautiful youth can be but at the same time it is also accompanied by very difficult and often painful lessons that comes with adulthood. This took a more realistic approach while a ALSB was a sugar coated dessert.

In my opinion, the writer actually hinted at this ending from the beginning. There were little hints sprinkled here and here. Yu Huai has always been a very self sacrificial character and his choices at the end really reflected that core part of his character. He chose to stay away from GG bc to him his future was bleak and he had a lot of familial burdens on him. He knew hat GG is an extremely loyal girl and she would stick it out through the hard times with him but he didn’t want to take away her future. I also thought that 10 years was a little too long of a time for separation and tbh i didn’t like how Yu Huai had such a bittersweet ending. Of course like any other viewer I always want my beloved characters to end up being happy and successful but I can also understand why they made the ending this way.

I just hope that you’ll still love this drama regardless of how you feel about the ending. It makes me sad that a lot of people brush this beautiful drama aside bc of that. It is honestly one of the best dramas that I’ve ever seen and not just in the c-drama realm!

Literally only worth it to watch the cute OTP... the drama itself is mediocre at best. That ending tho... i can't lol super rushed.

Ah second male lead of a With You? Yea me neither. I thought they made his character too depressing. He should’ve given up after HS and been good friends with her. I think ALSB’s wu bosong’s character was influenced by With You’s second male lead tho

I think it resembles ALSB in the sense that it takes place in a school setting and it’s a very light and sweet show! Other than that, it’s not so similar imo. I would recommend With you (also with Tan Song Yun) if you’re trying to find something just as good as ALSB. Imo, I think I loved With You more hahas. :) don’t let the low MDL rating of that drama scare you. It’s an amazing drama!!

IKR? They’re such gems and I wish more people would give them a try. I almost didn’t watch With You bc the ratings were so low. But someone highly recommended it to me and said they preferred it over ALSB which peaked my interest and I’m so glad I gave it a shot. I’m enjoying MHBFs rn ! I’ll check back in when I finish the drama ^^

Yea right before they meet at the end! I felt like only the first few texts and last text were subbed. everything in the middle was glossed over by the flashback voiceovers. But I may be wrong since I can't understand mandarin hahas.

Yea, I have to keep reminding myself that they're still in their 20's and they still have a lot of time ahead of them. I think that's what I love most about GG's character is that she's deathly loyal and it made me smile to know that even if YH loses everything, he will never lose her. Also for the end of the last episode, do you know if the subbed dialogues were the actual text messages or just for the voice over? I was kinda confused at that part b/c it seems like she was re-texting him messages she's been sending over the years but dramafever didn't translate those text messages, just the voice over and flashbacks.

Wait Unrequited Love will be adapted by another company? I was under the impression that it's the same company. I hope they'll do a good job b/c there are big shoes to fill.

Their ending made Geng Geng's narration in the the first episode where she said "He was his best self then, but I didn't become my best self until much later" even sadder. But I would have to say that they foreshadowed this ending from the start. With her first narration to the meaning of the idiom "Geng Geng Yu Huai", they've been dropping little hints for the viewers but we were all too hopeful to see the signs.

I really wanted to see more the their gang at the end too! they showed a snippet of Jian Dan and Zhou Mou but didn't really expand on what they were up to. Watching those 2 get a happy ending also broke me heart too b/c i can't stop comparing the two situations >__< . Yu Huai is too self-sacrificial and I love him but hate him for that all at the same time.

I'm super excited for Unrequited Love! I'm expecting nothing but greatness since the same studio is producing this. Too bad the actor who played Luo Zhi won't be reprising her role in the new drama.

So with a high rating here, I'm assuming this one will give a happy ending? LOL I too was a bit disappointed with the ending for With You b/c i felt like 10 years was way too long to have a separation. They literally were separated for longer than they've known each other. Also with only 2 episodes to develop it and with the tragic ending for Yu Huai, that broke my heart. Even with that tho I still gave it a 10/10 because it's such a gem and their hs days were the most precious thing i've seen. Wishing there's a season 2 for With You ): I'm scared that if My Huckleberry friends has a really good and happy ending, it'll make me feel even more sorry for Yu Huai and Geng Geng b/c it's an ending they should've gotten LOL. Currently am looking for the novel translations for these b/c I wanna know if the story continues after where the dramas end.
