he appears in the novel because it begins at their wedding (his and BQ's) which is a plot point because it creates reasons for DH to meet FJ (unlike in Ten Miles, the books for both series--The Sky Kingdom (American Translation) and Pillow Book EXPLICITLY state that DH almost never leaves his palace so he had like no involvement in the war with the ghost tribe

Many recommend Yangxi Palace; I haven’t seen it yet. I would rec Dong Yi (Not campy, not cheesy, nor does it have the random comedy filler that can make you scratch your head)

I appreciated flames daughter it delivered what it set it out to but Ming lan blew me away and was above my wildest expectations
