great article! i started watching this back when i was waiting for Ming Lan to update . It is def. on the light side--and for me that isn't exactly my type--but it delivers and executes its story/tropes well. I am also a big fan of the female lead. Thanks for the article!

i lot of people who liked yunxi enjoyed this drama but the type of scheming is not nearly as intense and it is less about going after people and more about avoiding drama//but some people i know who loved this did not like yunxi so I am not sure what that means but def give it a try :)

really hesitant to start after my friend told me there were sound prompts and cutesy gif's. i think if that is the standard for the show then it is just not my type :/ thank you for the article

i don't think the pacing picks up much beyond this, with the exception of maybe ten or so episodes. i just don't want you to be misled

Although I finished the legend of fu yao, I did not think it was that great of a show (I think I gave it a 7 overall)--it was misleading, I thought, because it was clearly split into 'arcs' and many things were inconsistent.

this show is not like fu yao. I recommend watching the first 5 or 10 episodes and if you don't like it maybe drop it

i agree with everything you said i think what makes this show so very special is how tightly written the script is (there is no filler, nothing ever happens randomly) and perhaps even more importantly is the attention given to the supporting characters. the supporting characters (and they are really more like extended main characters) are so well written and weaved in......

so obsessed....currently writing episode reviews for all the episodes.....wish there was another drama like it but there really isn't........thank you for liking the article :)

Thank you so very much for your reviews! The last article I wrote was for Song of Phoenix which I wrote without having watched the show and eventually dropped but I completed Ming Lan and it has climbed to the top and is now my number one favorite drama. Everytime I watch it (and I have rewatched it multiple times) I learn something new. This show has so much depth! Its so beautifully written! But I also don't think it is everyone's preference.
