it's a happy ending, but the ending feels so rushed. They dragged on the story for so long during the middle parts…
i t didn't feel draggy for me but that may be because I was waiting for episodes to be released but I think i am biased in my love for this show because i have re-watched so many episodes
Have you tried Story of Yanxi Palace or Secret of the Three Kingdoms? They're both Chinese historical dramas with…
how and schemey is Yanxi Palace? Is it people dropping like flies and lots of ruthlessness? one of the aspects I appreciate about Ming Lan is that it is grounded more in reality and people putting out fires, not creating fires (putting out a fire is a lot more difficult in my opinion)
I hope his plan works - because I found ep 69 the first disappointment in this wonderful series. Yes, it’s supposed…
I agree with you!! I think that they are def. luring the enemy out by convincing them that they have won; I am not entirely sure if Ming Lan is in on it though. From all appearances, she is not but I DO think she trusts her husband completely and he has never let her down. But I hope her doubts are true and real because then to me that is almost inhuman.

I just found it extremely in the favor of the enemy I truly cannot see how they get out of this unless the accusers are found not credible by a lot because now public eye is involved
Just an FYI, don't watch the tv previews (#77 & #78) unless you really want to spoil everything, including this…
I had to check out the previews because I was going crazy with wondering how they get out of this. I still don't know how they actually get out of it but some of them images left me satisfied still worried for my team which makes no sense since I know it is a happy ending
1)The Wang family accused him of murdering their daughter who was trying to HELP put out a fire that HE started 2)Evil Stepmom has accused him of trying to use the fire to kill her son AND the late marquis 3)The Bai family has accused him of wrongfully stealing assets worth 2 million taels 4)The old mistress has returned and accused him of using her, discarding her, and killing their son 4)Someone is trying to poison Ming Lan
WELL how does one fix this? I hope he has a plan and is just acting like he is utterly baffled to give them the feeling that they succeeded because the smugness and confidence of the accusers is just disgusting (great acting btw!)
i don't know what episode you are on but i think it just has to do with human nature; because of what happened…
evil step mom is relying on a lot of people to plead her case in this instance; when you go all in like that it means you rely on other people to help you....what if they back out in the end?
You are right, GTY appears to know that there will be a huge battle for the imperial court. I think he is confident…
I looked at episode 69 which is on youtube but not translated yet (I have been watching this on viki) and agree with you. The ED has been careful in selecting when she opens her mouth to speak her mind because she is an elder who has served the previous emperor and therefore the state--thus her opinion carries a lot of weight. Her words must appear selfless and genuine. Thus, when the wicked people plead their case, they will use this to their advantage by criticizing the moral integrity of Gu Ting Ye. It is their most effective weapon. After all, he has a reputation of engaging in immoral behavior (courtesy of his stepmother) publicly disobeyed royal edicts AND he has killed an officials wife. These are grave crimes. It appears to the public that Gu Ting Ye believes he is above the law and perhaps pursuing his own self interest instead of that of the state. not to mention killing innocent women. We both know that since he holds military power in his hands, someone like that could easily ruin the nation and rebel. The ED hopes to force the emperor into a corner so that he has no other choice but to execute Gu Ting Ye. ED believes her actions are justified because she is protecting the legacy of her husband, and decades of living in the palace has taught her to trust no one. Also, given the games she is used to playing, if Gu Ting Ye loses it only means he was never capable anyways so who cares, right?
You were completely right to say that the emperor would have no one to support him after this. I am still really trying to figure out how they will come out from this one because it involves the royal family. Even the Duke, when his wife was nearly killed, had to suffer some kind of punishment in order to appease others. I don't think that the royal family can really afford to put Gu in a time out given the number attacks on Prince Huan's life, which is a lot.

I have given this a lot of thought, and the more I think about it, I wonder if this is all a big show by the emperor since he said earlier it is time to finally confront and oust the dowager--you may be right--because there is no way for the Marquis to get out of this without a powerful supporter. Maybe the lecture given to Prince Huan was a show, along with his treatment of the empress, because he is aware of the spies in his court. Your points are very good and I think align with this. It might also explain why Ming Lan is not in panic mode. It could be that battle strategy of lighting a fire in the East in order to attack the West (the strategy used to marry Ming Lan). Maybe the emperor wants the dowager to be confident she is going to win in order to force her to act first, which can then give him the confidence to then surround her for colluding to usurp his power and for choosing to back terrible people.
The dowager empress has the allies of of older officials and the censor bureau, as well as older families like the Wang family but that family is in its twilight and dying. She even boldly takes the child of a imperial consort to 'raise'. She has Meniang, but she is a disreputable person.
The emperor, if this is indeed a show, has Gu, a decorated military official. He has Ming Lan, who has served the crown by helping out with the Duke's family, and they may have a new ally in Yuan Ruo. The Sheng family has a history of virtuous conduct. Auntie Kang has a reputation for devious behavior. It may play out like this: the old nobility/officials are devious and immoral, the new regime is filled with loyal and virtuous people. And if the gem in the censor bureau--Yuan Ruo, switches to their side, then who knows--I am really running out of ideas let me know what you think!
I'm amazed the Wang grandmother made a 180 so quickly. At least her character confirms why all of her children…
I think that her hatred for GU is so fierce because he has foiled her plans. At this point, she has her son but he is rejecting her. What infuriates me about her character is her arrogance: she is so sure she can outsmart anyone. The actress who plays her is fantastic: she is so damn smug and so sure that she will destroy the leads. Up until now she has used other people to do her work, but now she is directly involving herself in taking action. I am surprised she is doing this now because she is involving herself in plots against the emperor, which can lead to not only her death but her entire clan! Recall when the last prince rebelled, how the palace was able to find out so much information, including gifts that were accepted--she has accepted gifts from Consort Liu who is cooperating with the dowager--I just think it is incredibly risky but she did say she believes that she has no other choice but to be extreme....
