The pairing is off. It's a miracle that Man can pull this off with such an unappealing partner. Ben facial expressions…
Ben is attractive, but I'd rather have just about any of the other male characters as my bf, although it would be hard to choose between Jeng and Khanun. Pat is the type of person who will cry and threaten suicide if you forget your one-month anniversary.
I also had a chuckle when Jaab asked the bartender to make it strong as possible. Like dude, then don't order…
Also, "secret bars" (speakeasies) are secret to keep out riff-raff - for example people that ask for scotch on the rocks that's as strong as possible and then down it in a gulp and vomit everywhere. That's doing it wrong and is a sin against quality liquor. I suspect the writer is still at the age where the object is to get as drunk as possible as quickly as possible as cheaply as possible, as opposed to older people who want to get drunk slowly on high-quality alcohol that's actually a pleasure to drink and doesn't feel like ingesting Draino.
On the rocks bugged me too lol. But I annoyingly pick up on these things. I wish I didn’t.
Like Nolan said below, if you're drinking straight alcohol, how is the bartender supposed to make it as strong as possible? As strong as possible is just pouring it from the bottle to the glass. And putting ice in it is by definition not making it as strong as possible. Maybe that's why the bartender eschewed the ice.
I don’t know who green is but it would have been better even UP played pat role.UP is really good actor & I…
Green played Jeng's ex. He's an amazing actor, most notably recently in Something In My Room. Up could definitely play the role, although I think the character is supposed to be bubbly and there's something depressive about Up and he might be a tad old.
Ben is certainly good-looking - not sure about him being a good actor - so far he's not embarassing or awful, but perhaps to mediocre to carry a series.
Then, I do not really like those tropes in BL. Do the writers think, that "gay" life is just about being jealous/envious?…
It's the same in the US, except white-collar workers have less protections, and nobody rides a bicycle to work because we're all obese and drive SUVs, and politicians riding bikes would be run over "by accident" at an alarming rate. I'm guessing you're in Scandinavia or the Netherlands from your description.
Senior executives tend to be a bit high & mighty, but I'm a director and I am very cordial with subordinate and eat with them sometimes, although in the US most white-collar employees in the middle range just quickly grab something and eat at their desks.
But my subordinates still have to do what I direct them to do, and I determine (within guidelines) their raises and bonuses (although if I wanted to favor someone or seek revenge against them, it would have to be subtle), and I could be strict with performance. That's what I mean by "way too much power". The level of power bosses have in BLs is comical - except in Korean BLs where it's milder than reality as Korean management culture is authoritarian and based on bullying.
Korean employees will eat with their boss, but they wouldn't dream of entering the cafeteria before him, no matter how long they have to wait. And they literally bow to him. That's based on experience in one company, but that company is one-third of the entire GDP of Korea.
That opening scene with Put really underscored Ben's limitations as an actor - when he's in a scene with a much better actor it makes it weird and unbalanced. Jeng is a much more reserved character than Pat, but I always know what he's feeling because Man is a great actor. Pat is supposed to be more emotional, but I can't tell what Ben is trying to convey. In the scene with Put, when they hug, I can't tell if Pat feels bad or if he just desperately needs a laxative.
We didn't need even one second of Jeng's inner monologue - that's awful writing and disrespects the actor, who is perfectly capable of showing us how Jeng feels.
New Rule: every BL writer (and everyone else on the production team) needs to go out and get sloppy drunk so they know how to write drunkenness. First of all Jaab was ordering scotch on the rocks, but it was served neat. Someone probably heard the term "on the rocks" in some movie and thought you're supposed to say that or something (it means with ice).
Second, enough with the vomiting. How much vomiting do they need to make us watch? And nobody ever brushes their teeth afterwards - or even has a glass of water. Was that scene in the bathroom supposed to be funny? Because it wasn't. It was juvenile and stupid and did no service whatsoever to the plot, which is already progressing about as fast as snail that's having a stroke.
I will say, though, that the highlight of this was Jaab drunk with his glasses falling over his eyes constantly. I don't know if that was intended or it just happened and they kept it, but it was a welcome dollop of authenticity.
After spending a day with a pathetic, childish mess like Pat, if f#$%ing GREEN showed up I'd be out the door with him so fast it would cause a sonic boom. It's like they're determined to stuff all the best BL actors into this series to accentuate how 2D Ben is. Can you imagine how this would be if they'd cast Green as Pat? Or even Bruce - he could do the role. Although I doubt anyone else could play Chot.
Then, I do not really like those tropes in BL. Do the writers think, that "gay" life is just about being jealous/envious?…
To be fair, if I were in Jeng's position and I was in a relationship with a subnordinate, my friends would be pretty judgy about that. It's really totally unethical - you have way too much power over a subordinate at work, and what if you break up? If anything goes wrong after that, you will be held responsible. Now if I were a subordinate and Mr. Jeng wanted me, there;s a 0% chance of me turning him down.
IMHO, I think there are lot more other actors who could do/pull off these both roles of Kawi and Pisaeng very…
This is a comments section - here we discuss what we like and dislike. It's not "bashing" anyone if you have a critque so long as you aren't saying "Actor X SUCKS!" which is out of line. Our comments can't be weapons because they're words, not knives and guns. If we were major producers of Thai BLs, then sure, someone could use our comments, but nobody cares about comments from anonymous people on an obscure discussion board. Also, positive feedback is great, but you learn almost nothing from it and it's just hand-holding. Only critical feedback helps you grow and improve.
I personally find Krist's performance lacking in authenticity, by which I mean there are too many emotions coming from him that don't "feel" real - like I don't think he is really smiling very often. I don't think he's terrible or anything, I just don't think he's at the level of Gawin or Aye, and that makes any limitations he has more obvious.
Hmm. The thing is, Tai started it and got Patts all revved up and then brought it to a halt. I think it was quite…
I'm not sure where you're from, but BL by American or European standards BL is so tame that it borders on homophobic in it's stringent avoidance of gay sexuality. Note that they didn't actually show anything.
To me, Thana is more honest (despite lying about his job) - Patit is outwardly benign, but clearly views Thana as a trophy as he's happy to totally neglect him in favor of his own interests and ambitions, so I'm not really sympathetic to him. Plus, Thana is a Grade AAA smoke show and Pathit isn't, so Thana has my vote.
Yeah, Time is an interesting one. I totally thought he would be a delinquent character or some other sort of trouble…
True, but look at what happens to BL characters when they drink. One sip of a beer and they're projectile vomiting, have their memory totally erased, and have sex with the wrong people by accident.
I was on the fence about Luminous until Ep 3 - it really is a huge improvement as the overarching story is starting to emerge and it's clear that more than one character is supernatural.
Plus a lot of people were really turned off by the perception that Thana would be cheating, but that's not at all what's happening.
I have a little bit of a different take on Tai. To be honest, I've been around my fair share of young, gay men,…
I meant 3 want anal, 1 doesn't. My age group reached adulthood in the 1980s at the height of AIDS - a huge proportion of men older than me died, and for a lot of us it's hard to shake the fear - so it may not be representative of the general situation.
I have a little bit of a different take on Tai. To be honest, I've been around my fair share of young, gay men,…
Yes, but it's not all or nothing. I did like that Tai "helped out" after halting things - but if you're soulmates, would you not have had a discussion about this? They've been together for well over a month (I presume, or this is just their second date) and haven't been alone in a month? How is that even possible? They both live alone. Sometimes the writers will bend over backwards (do to speak) to avoid any gay sex stuff - that's homophobia or bowing to homophobia.
When you say "it's nice to see a younger man not want to jump into full intercourse" it makes it sound like this is unusual - it certainly isn't in BL. The only time an uke will have sex at the beginning of the series is if he's forced or really drunk. The delay is not necessarily an issue, because a buildup to the big event makes it so much more satisying. But these two got together almost immediately, so we didn't really see their relationship grow organically, and few months is a really long time not to have straightened out (so to speak) the sex issue.
For me it's been about 75/25 in favor of partners wanting anal, and much higher in the opposite direction for... less long-term arrangements, like 5/95, but I was young in the AIDS era.
I didn't really have a problem with the love scene given how it ended - I sometimes stream-of-consciousness post while watching and my comment was directed at the many times Tai pushed Patts away or accused him of being over-sexed, i.e. wanting to have sex. Since they haven't had it, Patts clearly does not have an overactive libido or he would have moved on to someone else. In the love scene, the dialog implied they'd never even had oral sex - are they adults or not?
He has his back to Tai and she is facimg him. As a pro-drama watcher, she saw Tai approachimg and kissed Patt…
That's exactly how I feel - it's a live action equivalent of telling, not showing. I want to see them being soulmates, not just being told. I agree about the acting - it's at a high standard.
The acting was so great, I'm impressed. Not like other overrated BL with subpar acting. Storyline also good and…
I think the secondary couple is 10/10, but the main couple is totally uninteresting to me, except insofar as I think Title is gorgeous and they do good love scenes. The problem for me is that their only connection is being soulmates - we're told that, but not shown why they like each other - there was no buildup like there is with Tian and Lomfon, who are to me easily the strongest actors in the series - Copter #1 and Suar #2. Nobody is a bad actor - everyone else is good too, but those two stick out.
Ben is certainly good-looking - not sure about him being a good actor - so far he's not embarassing or awful, but perhaps to mediocre to carry a series.

There's nothing wrong with smoking pot. It's not any stronger than alcohol.
