It's almost as though, it's not real?!?! 😲😲
I understood you and I agree. I just mean that BL isn't very realistic in general and leans too heavily on tropes and cliches like how the uke trips and is caught by the seme, and they stare at each other for an uncomfortable length of time. Or accidental kisses. Can you imagine what would happen if someone fell on top of someone else and their faces mashed together? Lot's of blood and teeth everywhere. It annoys me but it's part of the genre, so these things aren't going anywhere and there's no point dwelling on it.

Anyway, Johnny's lack of empathy for Hai Yi didn't make me like him less as it's impossible for me to loathe him more than I already did. He's so awful now that I can't even watch his scenes unless Hai Yi is is in it and wearing a muscle shirt or no shirt (because I'm shallow). I don't understand how anyone could write this and not see that the protagonist is a malignant narcissist who will disgust the audience. And even if the author is a malignant narcissist who thinks Johnny's behavior is normal, surely someone else read the script before filming. I just don't get it.

I don't thnk we've really seen anything about his character other than that he really likes Huai En. Stalin really liked his wife, too - just because you're nice to one person doesn't mean you're nice. Whether or not he's doing something wrong to throw us off doesn't change that the writing sucks. Actually, it would be marginally better if he really is evil because then at least something interesting would have happened.

Oh my gosh. Johnny hurt my soul. I wish I could give him to slap lol
I'm thinking maybe choking him to death with his own hair would be my preferred course of action at this point.

That was a tad carried away, wasn't it, considering you aren't clear what Fifion means? I think asking for clarification is a nice step to insert before a personal attack on someone about what is, in the end, a piece of light entertainment.

If the meaning is what you interpreted it to mean, a lack of realism in a BL is not exaclty something unusual. Straight guys don't actually turn gay if you trip and they catch you, but you'd never know it from BL. If it were that easy I would have enjoyed high school a lot more.

Sorry but I have to pause the episode (13) and say this. Johnny saying he is a reasonable person is the biggest…
Amen. Once my brother was complaining about our mother because she's narcissistic and appearances are more important to her than reality, so he feels he can't have an open an honest relationship with him, and my reaction was "who in their right mind wants an open an honest relationship with their mother? Have you ever even met a mother? Jesus Christ, grow up."

The point being that we all have boundaries that are ours to set, so long as we aren't hurting anyone else, and I don't mean "hurting" as in "my feelings are hurt because you didn't discuss something with me that I never expressed the slightest interest in and would have gotten bored and interrupted you if you'd tried because it's not all about me."

I don't understand what a jealou downvote is. Are there people who have nothing better to do than vote down a work of light entertainment out of sheer malice? And jealous of what? In any case, I'm fairly sure its the algorithm, because if you click on the icon that shows you voting by age group you can see that the actual voting average is somewhere between 8.7-8.8, and the overall score is rising to approach that as the viewership number rises. It's already at 8.4 and will likely get to about 8.6 unless the series starts to suck.

That cat wasn’t drugged. It was FULL. Homeboy probably did 20 takes just eating the product.
That's a good point.

So, the first episode is scored 8.9/9.1, but the overall score is 8.1? Go figure... MDL ghouls strike again...
There is a complex algorithm that makes no sense that I can make out. If you look at the stats for the overall score by age, I would say it's about 8.8, lowered a bit by youngere viewers who probably find the sex icky, but 8.1 is impossible if it's based only on votes.

There haven't been many voters yet (202 as I write this), and I suspect the algorithm like large numbers of votes. I suspect that if we check back tomorrow it will be higher.

I can't say that I loved that, but I definitely liked and enjoyed it. It's beautifully shot - nobody does contrasting complimentary colors like the Thais - you can see it even in their traditional attire with the stunning color combos, and that's all over this.

It's a breath of fresh air to get a mature and skilled actor like Earth, who's range of subtle expression is so wide and engaging, and who can say no to Fourth and Gemini? I liked that they didn't cover everyone's faces with plaster and left them more natural (which underscores the porcelain perfection of Earth's complexion), and even the product placement wasn't too intrusive. I think they must have had that cat drugged out of its mind to be that calm during a shoot.

I liked the pacing of the scenes, and even though it's slow, I didn't feel bored and I wasn't tempted to 2x it like I so often do. I liked that Jim identifies as gay, and I also liked that it's not seme & uke, which promises a more interesting dynamic than we usually get.

But it hasn't grabbed me yet. I think it had the potential to, but I'm not feeling this as more than something I like to watch. And I could spend a lifetime worshipping Mark Pakin's legs. Yikes.

Also, who was that sexy-ass bleached guy in the gym? Yikes x ten.

I can’t decide if it’s sloppy writing or lazy writing or just plain bad writing. At this point, I’d rather…
Darting between dark and fluffy without camp and humor just causes whiplash. KinnPorche was just as sloppily written, the acting just as uneven, but it was silly, knew it was silly, and owned its silliness, so it worked.

I'm still hoping Nueng's mother is the main villain and that she's been faking a coma for several weeks as part of her dastardly plan to kill her husband, seize all his wealth and power, and frame Chopper's father for the crime. That would redeem this for me a little, but only if there's maniacal laughter involved, and preferably a hairless cat. Supervillains need hairless cats.

Here is my problem with this week’s writing-It’s still very weak and has many plot holes. It all comes down…
I loved that the thugs dressed like that to a Thai beach resort and started asking around for their targets. Nueng should be charged with attempted homicide. If you loved someone, would you get sleeping pills from a shady as f@$% hotel creep then spike his drink with it?

I think the only thing that will get Chopper to act against his dad is for Ben to either be in jeopardy or get…
I was thinking Chopper is at the greatest risk, other than the two mothers, Mothers have an extremely low survival rate in BL. It depends on who the villain is. It seems so painfully obvious that it's Chopper's dad that it almost feels impossible that anyone would write this, but if it's Nueng's mother, then she's really committing to the plot if she's faking a coma for several weeks. Anyway, if it is, then nobody needs to die except her and Chopper's dad who will sacrifice himself to save his son. Otherwise, I think Chopper is the candidate, kind of like in Godfather Part III what Michael's punishment for his sins was.

Whoever dies, the Twelve Days of Christmas will be playing in the background.

This plot is just a shambles. As always, I'm ignoring the plot in this series. It is a tenuous fabric that is…
Nueng killed Palm's mom by withdrawing money from an ATM and then not leaving the area. But that's a minor quibble. The author killed Palm's mom because... well, because.

It feels like one author wrote the Nueng/Palm story and a much, much, much better writer did Chopper & Ben. It helps to have stronger actors, but it's more than htat.
On Never Let Me Go Feb 8, 2023
Oh, dear. Let me start with the positives - Chimon and Perth were first-rate, with subtle and multi-layered acting.

The rest... oy. If you want to write a story with intrigue and plotting and scheming, it has to make sense. If it was so simple as going back with REAL bodyguards, why didn't they just start off like that? If Chopper's dad is the villain, why is he leaving Nueng's mom alive? How hard could it be to arrange the death of a woman in a coma? If Chopper's dad is not the villain, then who is? The only other option is Nueng's mother, and unless she's faking a coma it doesn't make much sense. And there is nobody watching Nueng's house? Really? Let me ask everyone a question. If you'd located someone you wanted to kill, would you a) quietly take him out at night or b) send two thuggish guys dressed all in BLACK at a THAI BEACH RESORT to noisily ask around for your target?

I was joking the other day that the most dangerous job in the world is being a BL character's mother, but it's no joke - it's got to be at least a 50% death rate. What was the purpose of that? To try to show there are stakes? Too late - Nueng and Palm's plot armor is too thick for anything to harm them. It was just pointless and violent because this wants to be KinnPorche. But KP was outrageous and campy, and was about adults in their late 20s - it doesn't work in a conventional high school romance.

What was the point of the beach scene? It's like the author didn't think she'd filled her quota of stupid cliches and had to stick them in. "I never loved you" and the nonconsensual hug from behind. Sigh.

Nueng abandoning Palm after getting his mother killed is the most morally repugnant thing I've ever seen a BL character do. How am I supposed to care about him or want him to be with Palm if he's that horrible a person? And slipping him sleeping pills that he got from a shady hotel goon was f@$%ing dangerous as hell.

But worst of all, for all that, it was just boring. That scene where Palm showed Nueng his tattoo was ENDLESS, and Pond has his shirt off for the whole thing so I was forced to watch all of it. The acting was bad. It's not Phuwin & Pond's fault - I don't think they're particularly strong, but Marlon Brando and Katharine Hepburn couldn't have made that dialog interesting.

And WHY the Christmas carol? That was the most discordant use of music in BL history.

At least they weren't playing the German national anthem like they kept doing in Don't Say No.
On Hit Bite Love Feb 7, 2023
Did anyone see the deleted scene from Ep 3? It is... something. I don't like it when BLs are overly chaste, but that was a bit carried away for a high school story - it's hard to make me uncomfortable and that made me uncomfortable. And the part about realizing he was into BDSM by watching 50 Shades of Grey was about as cringe as it gets - so it was a wise decision to cut the scene.

Totally agree with this comment, they're dragging the kiss to never seen before extent and it's getting frustrating…
What on earth are you talking about? I'm saying I don't think 18-year olds are going to be together and have no physical interest in each other.

If you wat to talk about childish, it's responding to a rationally-stated opinion with a bizarre personal attack that doesn't even resemble what I said, and you're weird equasion of teenagers having sexual desires with rape is a lot like my saying your strangely aggressive post is similar to Hitler.

Can you point to a single insult I've written anywhere? I said the constant false-start kisses are cringey, some of the dialog is also cringey, and it's getting old that so many parents become fatally ill in their 40s, and I think the reluctance to show boys doing anything physical - and we're talking about a simple kiss here, not a bukake session, is rooted in societal homophobia because this is not equally the case for straight couples.

And I'm not denigrating Thai shows, I'm denigrating some aspects of one Thai show. You seem to think that nobody has the right to a different opinion than yours or you'll launch a weird personal attack - not to mention your racist screen against Americans and hostility towards men.

It's amazing that you could write something so hypocritical with no apparent irony, and not one other person approached this discussion with your level of rudeness and total lack of any argument in favor of insults. You have a lot of anger in you and I hope you get the treatment you need.

It's definitely worth a second watch - there's a lot I didn't see the first time around, and to me that's a strong recommendation.
