In my head, I keep hearing a waiter in an expensive restaurant asking "Would Monsieur care for some BL with his advertisements?"
Good God,. Enough already. If that doesn't tell you what GMMTV thinks of its audience, I don't know what will.
I still don't understand who in their right mind would pick Jay over Captain, but whatever, love is weird. The thing is, though ,I don't think I've ever seen Mark have any chemistry with a male partner - as sexy and beautiful as he is, I just don't feel it. Jimmy just has "it", and he overshadows Mark in charisma and chemistry with Ohm. And I love Mark - he's been one of my favorites since the first time I saw him.
BTW, I remember Jimmy as being large, imposing, and muscular - am I imagining it or has he lost a LOT of weight? He looks great, and I love him in glasses, but he looks so slender in this.
This is an extremely attractive cast, and the acting is good, too. But the writing... Oy, vey. Their relationship reminds me of the ones I had in primary school. And 7 episodes is a bit long to not tell us what the heck is going on. I like watching it for the cast, but I'm not sure it's enough for 12 episodes. I'm glad they're not waiting until the last 30 seconds of ep 12 to get them together, but one of the dangers of getting them together halfway through is you need to inject a degree of romance into the relationship or they're just friends, and that's not satisfying. The only whiff of attraction we've seen between them is when Da Hei took a shower, and that was Ep 1.
This is how chemistry should look like in a BL series. It is flowing like a river and you can feel the deep connection…
I agree the actors are making up for deficiencies in the writing, but I get "friend" chemistry more than "romantic". They don't even cuddle on the couch.
It seems incredibly, blindingly obvious that Nakan is not the villain of the story - Thara is, and Nakan is trying to stop her. I'm looking forward to her going full-on evil, because she's the best actor in this series and you just know she'll be terrifying.
On the other hand, maybe I'm giving too much credit to the writers.
But take Nakan's Trojan Horse riff - why would he say that to Mark? If he was planning a strategem like that, why on earth would he announce it to his enemy? Was he announcing his plans, or warning Mark about Thara?
I do appreciate that this series has a plot, which is becoming increasingly rare in Thai BL, but the writing, directing and editing is not very good. Whomever is controlling the story seems to suffer from short attention span - things don't follow each other in aways that feel authentic. Is right after having a very serious and potentially very dangerous fight with your best friend normally followed by sex? Would you be in the mood under those circumstances? Why would Tong go with Nakan? Ever heard of a taxi? Come on.
The Tongkla think was just lazy writing - there is no way he'd be swayed that stupidly - that could have been way better written.
But we get lots of shirtless Gawn and Joss, and I'm shallow, so there's that. But seriously, ALL the acting in this is stellar.
Where Nakan slides in like a Trojan virus—subtle, seductive, with all the charm of a malware disguised as a…
Are you sure you're interpreting what Nakan said correctly? Why would he announce his plans to Mark? Or was he warning him about Thara? Who is the person who has been controlling Tong, and who is the only person who has taken his blood? Nakan could have at any point in this series, but he hasn't. Why not?
I thought that one of the most romantic scenes I'd ever seen was the the last scene at the beach in Ep 6 - I can't…
I didn't see Tong showing a lot of loyalty to Tongkla - it was really jarring for Tong to totally forget aboiut Tongkla and go off to have sex with Mark.
Thara knows Mark loves Tong - she doesn't want it interfering with her evil plan that only Nakan sees.
okay so after reading comments from both perspective of people who say its grooming and who say it isn't as there…
The basic answer is "because if Sorn just said he liked him and wanted to be with him up front the series would end on Ep 1." It's like asking "Why didn't Hamlet just kill his uncle in revenge right away?" or "Why didn't Darcy and Elizabeth speak plainly about Wickham, social class, and their first impressions the first time they argued?" Or for all horror films ever made, "why didn't they just leave the house?"
We know Jun's a bad kisser because they showed him kissing and it was awful.
This is about two immature hot messes who are awful at communicating doing the romance dance. Nobody is saying Sorn's behavior is mature and good, and it isn't. Jun's is roughly equally bad. He grabbed a man and aggressively started kissing him to make Sorn jealous (which is way, way more problemmatic than anything Sorn has done, but nobody seems to care about that), for one.
GROOMING: a process where someone builds trust and emotional connection with a target to manipulate for gain, exploit, or abuse them. Note the intent is key. Grooming entails a sustained period of psychological manipulation to break down boundaries and isolate the victim. Trying to convince someone to be your boyfriend is not exploting, manipulating, or abusing them.
COERCION: forcing or pressuring someone to do something against their will by using threats, intimidation, manipulation, or other forms of pressure.
There is no evidence whatsoever that Sorn intends to exploit or abuse Jun - he wants him as a romantic partner, which is the opposite of grooming. Sorn applies no force of any kind on Jun. He offers to teach Jun how to kiss, and Jun accepts.
Here's a more relevant definition:
AGEISM: discrimination or prejudice against people based on their age. That's what I'm seeing here. How many people that are accusing Sorn of "grooming" Jun would do so if they were the same age, or even if Sorn were younger than Jun? It's irrelevant.
Sorn can be 90 and Jun can be 21. If both are consenting adults, then there's nothing wrong. Nobody would want to watch a series about this (although Harold & Maude is a fantastic film, and so is Gerontophilia), but 21 and 26?
WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
- It waters down the meaning of a very serious crime. Gooming is methodical, predatory behavior that leads to devastating abuse, not learning how to kiss.
- It stigmatizes normal, consensual adult relationships. This is patronizing and wrongly suggests older people as automatic villains based only on age.
- It creates moral panic, making people suspicious of harmless relationships and discourages healthy mentorship, affection, and trust-building between adults.
- It weaponizes a serious accusation for personal dislike or moral judgment, misuing "grooming" just because a viewer doesn’t like age-gap couples.
Grooming requires intent. The purpose of grooming is to exploit or abuse someone, not win them as a romantic partner.
Likewise, coercion is forcing or pressuring someone to do something against their will by using threats, intimidation, manipulation, or other forms of pressure. It is not trying to convince someone to do something, especially in a case where the other person really, really, really wants it.
At no point does Sorn ever threaten Jun or even pressure him. He asked for Jun's consent to teach him how to kiss, and it was granted.
While we're playing along with the older man younger man side of this show, I'd like to remind everyone that Sorn…
It wouldn't be grooming and there would be nothing wrong with it even if Sorn was 50. As long as Jun is 18, he is entitled to make his own choices. The only issue is the relative power imbalance at work, in which case it doesn't matter if Jun is 50 and Sorn is 21.
My question is, if neither party makes a move on the other, how would anyone ever get together? These people are all pro-extincion-of-the-human-race.
This is sort of a guilty pleasure, isn't it. There are some objectively good things about it, though - like look at the camera work when Sorn & Jun are kissing. Also, Jun is supernaturally attractive - usually extremely cute, but hot when wet... And the acting is good.
I really like Tape, and I was glad to see him in a lead role. But the plot of this is so cliched I feel secondhand embarassment watching it. I'm going to wait and see what you all think before continuing.
Why do BL characters bother to set alarms if they're going to set them way too late an then be shocked at how late they are?
I'll bet if we voted Captain would win. In looks, I'd probably take Mark, by a hair, but I like muscles and Jimmy's smile is hard to beat. And as characters, it's too hard to make a relationship work with people like Jay. He's not exactly a liar, but he doesn't say what he means and his communication skills are non-existent. So Captain by a mile.
It's probably largely Jimmy, but there is way more chemistry between Sant and Captain than with Jay - I think this might have worked better if they switched Jimmy and Mark's roles.
ngl captain and sant seems to have more chemistry than jay and sant. im really liking captain and sant, any sensible…
100%. Nobody in their right mind would pick Jay over Captain. They're pretty close in looks - maybe Jay even has the advantage there - but in personality and chemistry there's no contest.
I personally think Thara is the villain. I think she has been convincing Mark of the seriousness of protecting…
That's my theory too, actually. I don't think Mond s a villain - note he didn't harm Tong... I think he and Mark will need to cooperate to stop Thara, and I think he really is interested in Tongkla.
oddsare said it better than I could, but whomever wrote Tong needs to stop writing and do anything else. Mark is barely better, but he makes fewer totally incomprehensibly stupid decisions.
if the Golden Blood is that powerful, why don't they just give a drop to Thara and solve all their problems? I guess that's sort of like asking "Why didn't Hamlet just kill his uncle?" But at least Hamlet is well-written.
i want Mark to suck (clean) that injury and continue whatever he was planning to do *cough* but you know what,…
I think it's a dream sequence. If not, it's a ridiculous, creatively bankrupt attempt at inserting drama into the wet carboard box that is this series. It has all the right ingredients - it just needed someone to write a good story and direct it with a little skill.
