That was about 4 minutes of content stretched into 45. Really dull. But so much prettiness that it still kept my attention. With good writing these two could be in an epic BL instead of this pale and silly Twilight ripoff. It's a waste of talent.
I groaned at the food stuck on the face cliche, but then they actually integrated it with the plot, which was rare and appreciated.
There's still too much flashback, but it was under control this ep and served a purpose.
I'm obsessed with Mark, so I can bear this series' flaws, but it could have been a lot better - the energy-level is too low. When they amp it up it's at its best.
I liked the kiss - very well done. That was the sexiet Ohm has been in this series.
this site is honestly the last thing you should base your opinion on, people here will trash a series for being…
I'll wait until it finishes airing and then decide.
But there's a difference between petty trashing and thought-through critique. I would probably ignore a comment criticizing anything for its runtime or non-adherence to source material. I actually have a bigger problem wityh adherence, not non-adherence. Written media have to be adapted when put on a screen - what works in writing, even a Manwha, often doesn't in live action.
For example some of the stupid hairstyles, especially in JBL.
I was going to watch this, but the comments seem to indicate that I wouldn't like it.
That, BTW, is the utility of criticism. I can read your opinions and decide not to expend my limited time, and that's why I'm grateful for this site. Also, in some cases, creators read comments, and can gauge what works for the audience and what doesn't.
I've only watched 2 eps so far, and I appreciate that the boys actually act like boys - nobody is terrified of rain and contracts a fever from it touching them, and even the small guy behaves like a guy and doesn't need to be carried piggy-back as a result of miniscule adversity or stubbing his toe. He even rides a bike by himself off-road and doesn't get injured!
The acting is excellent and naturalistic - I even wonder if the actors were told to improvise.
It would be nice if there were a plot, but I presume that's coming.
I was really liking this until ep 4, which had as many cliches shoehorned into it as is achievable. A grown man, especiallly one as big Yu Bo, cannot possibly get that drunk off one beer, and it looked like a half-strength fruit beer, so he'd need to drink 8 just to have too high a blood-alcohol level to drive, which is still very far from being falling-down drunk. Assuming he's a lightweight, he'd still need to drink about 12 to get that silly.
Making characters drunk for exposition is lazy and bad writing. It's good thing the actors are so incredibly cute or I'd drop it. Seriously, those two are so cute that kittens get jealous watching them.
TBH, a normal person would have had Jay's d#$% in his mouth a long time ago, pain or not, but this is a BL, so…
I might have been exaggerating slightly for the sake of drama, but that was not a very interesting date. If it were better written there would have been comedy and witty banter. Why chew up so much time and not take advantage of it?
I have absolutely no issue with Mark not being with Neo, which I never thought really worked, and I think this…
"Don't watch it" is not really a mature response, This is a discussion forum - people are here to talk about what they've watched. I could jsut as well respond with "then don't read people's comments is you are worked up over people having different opinions than yours about pieces of light entertainment."
By "drama" I didn't mean "melodrama". Drama is just character development and emotional realism in a story that deals with life's complexities.
Melodrama, which you're referring to, I do not need - exaggerated emotions, moral polarity (villains vs heroes), and tons of coincidences, rescues, and big reveals. Those can be fun, especially if written and acted well, but I'm fine with a lower-key story.
Both of these need writing ability to pull off - and I don't see any at work here. Most of this episode was wasted on a boring date day which showed no originality or interest, and almost no humor. When Jay turned out to be the clerk at the convenience store and carded Sant, that was funny - about ten times more of that was needed.
I agree with everything you just said. The UKE always has the same dam personality of being childish and treated…
There have been cases where the uke has a more manly character (as in moral fibre or resilence) than the seme, but this is rare, and he is never more masculine outwardly.
They are either infantilized beyond reason or they have hollow and dull chracters because they are a placeholder for the author inserting herself into the story to be with her dream boyfriend, and because the uke is her, she doesn't bother to write him a character.
Another bad mother in a GMMTV series. If she comes back it is jail time for her.
At least she's alive - the mortality rate for 30-something mothers in BLs is at least 50%. There must be a lot of carcinogens in the water for that many young people to fall terminally ill. To be fair, a lot of them are run over by white vans.
I am seeing myself reflected in so many of the comments. We all love Mark and celebrate that he finally got his…
I can help you: It's a story about dental appointments. The end.
CursedXistence summed it up already, but beyond the flashbacks, I'd also like a story with a m/m romance to have two men it it. I do like Sant and I think his acting is good, but his character is just too weak and passive to be interesting.
Think about it - if you were asked "describe Jay". you might answer "an unspeakably hot dentist who is a bit clueless about feelings but strong, self-confident, and sexy in a goofy way."
If you're asked "describe Sant", what can you say? "Some guy who is indecisive about dental appointments."
This is a common problem in BLs - because the uke is so often the author inserting herself into the story to get her dream man, she doesn't really bother giving the uke any characterization - he's just a placeholder.
But think about some of the best BLs - I Told Sunset About You isnt like that - the uke is much stronger than the seme and they are both well-drawn characters, or if you've seen the short but charming 21 Days Project, there really isn't a seme and uke - just two boys (with well-drawn characters) falling in love.
There's nothing to grasp in this romance because there's only one real character in it.
Chillax. Wait for November/December gmmtv release s their BEST series in the end of year.
I dropped all of those. I've given up on GMMTV. There are too many people interested in their boring dreck, so they have no reason to stop churning it out. I'm watching this for Mark, but I'm not sure its enough, unless he starts taking gratuious showers.
not every show has to be some plot heavy critically acclaimed masterpiece to be enjoyable!
True. But it can't be a boring and poorly-written story about dental appointments. Mark is one of my absolute favorite BL actors, and while I'm not too familiar with Ohm, I like him too, and I think they're both doing a good job - but they are completely wasted on this awful series. I just hope it doesn't crash and burn so badly that they aren't given another chance with a much better script.
I didn't expect anything from My Golden Blood either (actually I expected way less of that than I did of STGD) but it's delivered entertainment - this has not.
People who write negative comments, what did you expect from a cute romcom? that there will be adult scenes in…
What did I expect form a cute romcom? I expected it to be cute, funny, and romantic, not a boring drag about dental appointments. Why do 100% of people who have a problem with negative comments always head straight to "duh you just want SEHKS!!!" There is a whole lot between what's happening in this series and "adult scenes".
The thing that bothers me about this series isnt the fact that its a romcom, or litely themed or has a simple…
Were there even any jokes in Ep 2? There were a couple of situational comedy moments that worked, like Mark being an employee at the store and carding Sant, but not nearly enough to qualify as a "comedy", and the romance is so bloodless that I think it's too mild for a children's show, It almost seems homophobic. Are straight romances this tame?
It's a very conventional plot, but given where it was made, I think I can live with it, and the cinematography on this was way beyond your average BL.
There's still too much flashback, but it was under control this ep and served a purpose.
