They ruined Ping & Tap with that ridiculous fever scene. You know a writer is creatively bankrupt when she can't think of any way to advance a relationship other than a tired cliche - it's always, always something external and never something between the characters.
And is everyone going to get drunk every single day?
What is "so ratchet"? Is that supposed to be 1990s rap slang? It means "wretched", so it does't make much sense. Also, I know we're not supposed to say such things, but Pai is nasty little queen - what a horrible character, and he has more screen time than any of the main characters. WTF?
This series just goes in endless circles. The only couple that I like is Prince & Gear, and nothing ever happens with them.
And all anyone ever does is talk about Fah & Sher, and they never have anything interesting to say about them. And there's zero chemistry between Fah & Sher to begin with - their love scenes are just awkward to watch, and how many times is Fah going to tell Sher to eat him in a ridiculously crude attempt at flirting? Although Sher might have to actually eat him to avoid starvation.
This might be the worst-written BL of all time. Except Physical Therapy, and that was at least fun to hate-watch.
Santa is leading man material. I watched an interview and he says that Cake is a lot like him, and that his friends…
I actually totally agree. I'd acually like to see him play a really bitchy villain. The poor guy is 25 - how long are they going to make him play high school kids with no agency that sit around crying and whining all day? Give him more.
I thought the scene between the guy with the camera and the chubby scheming guy would last until the sun expended all its hydrogen and went nova.
The writing is a bit repetitive.
"You hurt your foot so you sleep in the bed." "No, I'll sleep on the couch. You sleep in the bed." "No, your foot is hurt, you sleep in the bed, I'll sleep on the couch." "No, I'll slep on the couch. You sleep in the bed."
That was repeated a few more times until I wanted to break something. All the conversations are like that, and the most of the acting makes it seem like someone just woke the actors up and threw them onto the set.
Then I finally thought it was over when Putter carried Yoshi to the bed, and then they had the same conversation again, and at that point I just started fast-fowarding to see if anyone took a shower.
Also, this is the most incompetent camera work I've ever seen. Do any of the characters have legs, or did they all get run over by a lawn-mower? All the shots are static and waist-up only.
Yoshi is cute, and I like the height difference, but Putter could be replaced by a cardboard cutout and there would probably be more energy to his performance.
It's filmed really weirdly. The point of the height difference is to be cute, so why is there almost no full body…
I'm guessing that it's because carrying someone bridal-style is really difficult and they probably faked it.
Or that's what I thought until I finished watching it - I think the camera work is totally incompetent - all of it was that bad. Look at the scene where Putter is checking Yoshi's temperature - what a bizarre shot.
You can just tell the truth - you don't have to terrorize and out people.
The school was terrorized by Akk, and then Thua terrorized the school some more to reveal that Akk was terrorizing the school. That's not really heroic so much as really strange reasoning - especially since Akk's terrorizing was mild, like pushing a tiny flower pot off a balcony, whereas Thua was burning people in effigy, which is not only much more severe, it's very dangerous.
Wouldn't it have just been better to say "Akk, I know it was you - either you confess or I'll expose you" instead of terrorizing innocent people and outing him? And if what he did is heroic and right, then why is he participating in covering up what he did? It makes no sense and is hypocritical at best.
What do you think you're going here? You're not dabbling with "getting into it", you're leaping straight into…
I actually was not really bothered by the outing since nobody seems to care about this, or at least Thua doesn't, and even if he shouldn't have, he wasn't thinking about it as something shameful in itself, just that it caused him to question Ayan's motivations, and frankly he's correct.
On the other hand, he knows Akk well enough to know how badly that would affect him and while I can see Thua being an "ends justifies the means" kind of person, he had no remorse or apology for it.
But carrying on the curse was a bit of a stretch, and even if you can can take that, the lack of consequences to him among his friends was really jarring - there really needed to at least be a converstation with Kan about it. And what was really impossible to swallow was his hypocrisy.
It feels like all the emphasis was on generating drama rather than paying attention to the characters, which is a GMM thing for second-to-last episodes that I wish someone would cure them of, because they mar what could be nearly perfect series.
This has been a good series up till now, which is why this is "survivable", if the last episode is good.
Santa is leading man material. I watched an interview and he says that Cake is a lot like him, and that his friends…
I think to an extent you're right, but criticising Earth can also be about specific repetitious habits in his acting, not necessarily their effeminacy. A macho-man can just as likely be whiney as a... less macho man like Earth. It's probably largely directing and writing, but pairing him with Santa does seem to underscore his comparatively smaller acting range - epecially given his greater exprience, I feel he's been overshadowed.
I think in this series Earth's character is a bit self-absorbed - whereas Cake's entire life is about making Eiw happy, Eiw has never really seemed to bother to think about how Cake feels - even when he doesn't want to be a bother, that's more about his insecurities and he never thinks about how it makes Cake feel like he's being pushed away, despite how utterly clear he made it that he felt that way this ep.
But in any case, Earth's acting is good - considerably above average for a BL actor. Santa is just especially talented and capable. But even there, the performance an actor puts in is often affected by the actors he's acting against, so Earth probably gets some credit for what Santa's accomplishing here.
I dabbled with the idea of getting into it with the many negative comments for this show after episode 11, but…
What do you think you're going here? You're not dabbling with "getting into it", you're leaping straight into the deep end of passive-aggression - and who is it that's seeking attention? Whether or not people like a series has absolutely nothing to do with quality of life - this comment says a lot abou your life, if these series are so important to you that people criticizing them has that huge an effect on you.
To me, a series can have good and bad aspects, and expressing criticism of some of them is just expressing an honest opinion and engaging with fellow fans in this community., which is half the pleasure of being a fan. Sometimes people even change my mind, if they can show me a perspective I missed.
But if someone likes something I don't, I'm happy for them. If the "vibe" or your mood are killed by hearing opinions that are different than yours, I have to ask if you really hold those opinions, and I don't understand what you're doing in a discussion forum where there will be as many opinions as there are posters.
Almost everyone here who has expressed disappointment in this episode started from a place of loving this series, which is why they're disappointed. You're making really arrogant and unsupported assertions about other people - and somehow not realizing that attacking other actual human beings is infinitiely worse than having a criticism of a work of fiction. So who is the hater? You're the only one hating on other people. Everyone else is criticising specific aspects of the writing.
Bravo! Well said.....drama series are drama's series becuase they do the unexpected. Not all the time but many…
Yes, I agree completely with that. I do think the episode diminished the series, though - not ruined it, but I'd probably knock it down half a point or a point. The one thing you can't do wih Thua's character is make him a huge hypocrite, and they did.
Yea. The forgiving him after like 5mins was off. First it was such a huge deal then the next moment it's nothing.…
It's possible that everyone chose to believe it, accepting Wat's explanation to defuse the situation - but that didn't seem clear at all, so it also came off as a false note.
I agree with everything, except I didn't think Thua's sudden change was that unexpected. Well...it was unexpected,…
I think you need to have a bit of setup for something that radical - and it was just too much. I don't mind his having pent up feelings about things, but this isn't just snappeing, it was premeditated and plotted - and it involved terrorizing the protestors, which is way too extreme to try to get people to reveal truths, and I'm not sure how it did in any case; it just isn't logical - plus, if you're upset that someone has been terrorizing people, you... do it too?
And beyond all that, Kan wanted to physically assault him he was so angry, and then minutes after that he's totally over it. Everyone was over it. On top of that, Thua was angry that Akk's role was being covered up, but now he's actively covering up the exact same activity. It's just too inconsistent and people's reactions aren't realistic.
Wow, I'm so in love. This isn't the best BL I've seen, but it's the one I want to see most. Andy Wu is so cute (and sexy) that it borders on supernatural.
And is everyone going to get drunk every single day?
