I'm confused. There was a love scene in Ep 5 and that was rushed? Romance also has a phyical component to it, and this isn't the Victorian era... It feels like you have a hyper-romanticized and idealized idea of romance. Had they interacted for 5 episodes, or did they actually not know each other? Was the love scene totally gratuitous, or had they had chemistry between them? How old are they? If they're adults, it would be strange not to have anything physical - if they're younger, maybe not. But I think it's a bit much to say that "real" romance is communication and future plans. That's what comes after the romance, not before or at the beginning. Try going on a date with a man and ask him how many children he wants you to bear him, and he'll excuse himself to the bathroom then climb out the window and block you - if he's a calm person. Otherwise he'll run screaming into the night. Part of getting to know someone is determining sexual compatability - if you don't have that, the best you'll do is friends.

I watched I believe 3 episodes and then got busy and forgot to finish, so I'm seriously asking, not criticizing. It seemed to be moving kind of slowly to me and I'm considering going back to it.

Everything on Est has been sculpted by the Lord in His spare time. He's almost too perfect.

That's the only place I can bring this up. Me and a friend of mine are having an argument as to how much slack…
You can cut as singer as much slack for his looks as you want. If someone is a 5 in looks and a 9 in singing, and someone else is a 10 in looks and an 8 in singing, Mr 10 will win every time. If history has taught us anything, it's that looks matter. In any case it's all a matter of what you enjoy.

Is the villain that cartoonish all the way through? I have a hard time watching him, although the rest of the cast is compelling. Well, maybe except the tall dead guy. At least I think he's dead. Or undead or something. He looks like the love child of Dracula and Professor Snape.

I have to admit, while I didn't love the first ep, it's really grown on me. The captain and the cute guy are the most compelling to me - I can't get enough. I think they have the best chemistry. The main couple is fine, but I'm not feeling it from Snape.

Sei's behavior and his mannerisms are exactly like a victim of control and abuse. He seems so zoned out. Not even…
But how is Sei a victim of control and abuse? Kazuaki made it clear from the beginning that he wasn't interested in a sexual relationship and coiuldn't see Sei that way. Yet he still takes care of Sei and puts up with Sei's ceaseless sexual advances. Sei even admitted he deliberately makes Kazuaki uncomfortable. You're not a victim if you choose to put yourself in a situation that hurts you. I don't think he's to blame, either - depression is no joke and he needs treatment. But it's a BL, so he'll easily be healed of a chronic clinical depression through love.

It feels like you're projecting onto Sei - I don't think he behaves like a controlled, manipulative and abused person - I think he behaves like a depressed person. Both his parents died recently in an accident - don't you think that might have a greater impact on his mental state than his supportive roommate not sleeping with him because he's not so inclined? Sei seems the abusive one to me, always trying to get his roommate to either have sex or discuss why they're not having sex - that would be awful, and I would have to move out if someone did that to me.

Can you point to a single behavior that is controlling, manipulative, and abusive? I don't see any. He doesn't monitor Sei, try to limit his interactions with others, get jealous, exert economic power over him, belittle or criticize him, manipulate him, physically harm him - and Sei has none of the typical characteristics of a person being abused - he's not anxious or fearful, he doesn't have low self-esteem, so what is there that says "victim" about him? If he'd been led to believe he would have a sexual relationship but then sex was withheld, then that would be abuse, but that didn't happen, and he doesn't withhold any other type of affection or caring.

pls i kept getting second hand embarrasment. also idk how to explain this well but omg i wanted fou4mod to act…
I'm having to take breaks to get through the scene where he's trying to get info from Chian's friend. It's a very well-written and acted scene, and it's very "real", but the second-hand embarrassment is painful.

What’s this I see? A Thai BL with nary an engineering student in sight, actually decent music & soundtrack,…
Not to mention that dancing made them tired and sweaty - usually heat and humidity are is absent from BL world as homophobia and male heterosexuality. And they took a train, which I was under the impression was illegal for a BL character.

You do realize that was a comedic review, right? I don't think someone would imitate God and seriously issue commandments.

Also, I don't think you understood what he was writing. #10 is commenting on the use of homophobia in lazy writing to generate last-minute drama, which is essentially making light of a very serious issue.

Also, you're responding to a gay man who grew up in an incredibly repressive culture, so I suspect he's quite familiar with homophobia and its effects. Sometimes the best way to cope with something is to laugh at it.

Hello Stranger is much different than Gameboys - it was just filmed at the same time and had to deal with COVID. Gameboys is a romance, and Hello Stranger is a coming-of-age story where (internalized) homophobia is not a plot device, it's the driving force for the drama. We can discuss later.

KdS never says that in real life, fortunately, although he did make fun of my bathrobe, which is unfair for various reasons.

I'm surprised by the negative comments here. This show is getting better and better, and its growing fanbasejust…
What is your evidence for that? I don't see people complaining about a lack of intimate scenes, they just don't like the love triangle aspect of this even thought it's really not a triangle. Nobody is watching BL expecting it to be full of intimate scenes. If they want that they'll watch Western dramas. I don't understand why you always assume that if anyone has a different opinion than yours that it must be because they're sex-crazed maniacs who just want endless porn. MDL is an excellent source for reviews because people have differing opinions - if you want an echo chamber where everyone feels exactly the same as you do, I'm sure you can find one.

What is the BL obsession with vomit? I haven't vomited since I was a child, and I lived in Poland (where I had my alcohol tolerance tested) for a while. And who wouldn't turn away if they had to vomit and instead launch it at another person? I hope this improves. I do like the younger main character. And I really, really like his older brother despite his cliched tripping all the time to advance the plot which is lazy, bad, writing. But he's beautiful so I can live with it.
On Sangmin Dinneaw Jan 12, 2025
This is terrible. Pony is excruciating and there's no detectable story. The intimate scenes are either funny or hot, which is nice, but they'd be better if they had been built up to rather than just happening. For the comedic couple it's fine, but for the main two romantic pairs there should be some longing. Also, maybe start with a kiss rather than a handjob.

imaging your eww moment when you pause the episode midway just to comment what's wrong with screenwriter, seriously…
I don't see how limiting boys to "cuteness" is any less exploitative than a story with sex in it. Gay men have sex. Desexualizing them isn't true to the normal human experience and is appropriating a repressed group to make you feel "the cutes". Also, the moralizing is homophobic.

That said, there really isn't a story, so the PG-13 scenes are all it has going for it. The writing is awful and Pony scenes are unwatchable - I +10 seconds through all of them.

This is bad and boring, but nobody wears any clothes so I'm all-in. The cut version leaves out most of the secondary couple, which is the best thing about this series. Joke is beautiful.

This is kind of bad, but Petch is doing a great job and Sang Min is very good at gratuitous showers and massage fantasies. I think Koreans may be genetically superior or something. Jeez.

They need to feature Joke a lot more - he really stood out for me.
On LoveSick 2024 Dec 29, 2024
That was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. They had an absolutely stellar cast, and wasted them on a plot that just ran around in circles after the first four episodes. This should never have been stretched to 15 episodes without introducing something... anything, to drive the plot other than petty and implausible jealousy.

Ugh. And whoever directed Almond to move in slo-mo at all times needs to go back to film school. It just drained all the energy out of everything, and made me wonder what Noh saw in him, other than his looks, but I'd still take Earn just on that criterion.

I hope these talented actors get better roles in the future.
