It actually falls in line with the book
But this isn't the book, and it didn't work here.

I really wish they toned down more :(The en Of Love version was more bearable. This was way out of my league
I don't understand what you mean.

Ep 1 was a letdown to me. The acting and cinematography were really good, but the writing was terrible. First of all, the drunken having sex with someone thinking they're somoene else is ridiculous and impossible. Espcially since he could speak normally.

Second, Vee wasn't drunk, and I can't see any possible motivation for his doing that. Well, OK, Mark is hot, but he hated his guts five minutes before and his friends had to restrain hm from getting violent, and then all of a sudden he's cheating on his girlfriend with a guy that hasn't even brushed his teeth after projectile vomiting?

I think all BL writers should be required to get blasted so they can accurately write drunkenness. If you're watching Sky In My Heart, Mek was acting realistically drunk - loud, slurring words, etc. And even though it's impossible, having sex with someone who thinks you're someone else is not consensual sex.

There was no believable transition and development of Vee's feelings. I'm hoping only Ep 1 is like that because I've been looking forward to this and there are some great qualities that could make this good. War isn't as compelling to me as he was last time - maybe it's because it was an hour of him at the same emotional level all the way through. I was actually more impressed with Yin, who is vastly improved over the last time we saw him.

Im so glad they changed the actors playing Gun and Bar. In the original series, a character turns to Gun and says…
Here's what I wrote in a review of En of Love: "Gun is so supernaturally unappealing that it was totally incomprehensible that Bar would ever go for this creepy stalker, especially when he had the 1,000 times more attractive Mark after him too. To be honest, my skin crawled so badly whenever Gun was onscreen that I started fast-fowarding through all his scenes."

You can have an unattractive man with a great personality, or a boring attractive man, but you can't have an unattractive man with an awful personality. At least not in the romantic lead.

The number of 20-somethings with severe organ failures is alarming, Maybe Putin is putting polonium in their sushi.
True. with tinted windows.

Yes! Yaya was so irritating. They built her up to be annoying and a pester to Fah. Why all of the sudden am I…
I had put in a placeholder name for Yaya because I couldn't remember her name and then forgot to go back. The Yaya story was pointless because they sidestepped the issue (with misogyny, of course) by having the boy turn out to be hot, rather than explore tradition/duty vs individualism/happiness. It wasn't even a reflection or contrast to the main couple's story. We don't need to be told about love at first sight because we watched it happen the first second Fah saw Prince.

Correction: hit by white cars with no drivers (or at least none willing to exit the car).

This has been a year of Top-tier Japanese BLs. So I guess there had to be a clunker in there so that the masterpieces can be better appreciated.

That was so dull and pointless that I had great difficulty making it though the episode.

OK, here's the thing. I really like the main couple, but everything else is irritating. I'm so over stupid shit like how Dao thinks it's totally gross when Khluen touches him. They're in a shiny new relationship after years of pent-up desire. They should not be able to keep their hands off each other. Ugh, what a waste of time. Who wouldn't want to shower with Khluen?

This whole episode was consumed by the tiresome Yaya story. Yes, I get the point, but it needed 5 minutes, not 45. JJ and Mesa are a cute and funny Greek Chorus, though.

I didn't see anything wrong with anyone's acting - in fact it was nice that Mek was acting like an actual drunk person instead of a BL drunk person. There was an unfortunate editing error when he was crying where the voiceover was out of synch with the image - maybe that seemed off, but I think both Mek and Mark have done a decent job drawing their characters. The kiss was sweet, not passionate, which was appropriate to the moment, and it looked to me like they committed to it.

Anyway, hopefully the groom will take Yaya far away and out of the story.

I guess because we've seen Fah's?

Probably Li Gong at this point. I think he's cuter, but he's an idiot and I wouldn't mind spending some time on Ze Shou's hot body.

Which caucasionising aspect are you referring to? Is it the blonde hair? I have complained about this hair colour…
It's not a coincidence, though. Why do Asians all wear Western clothes, play, write, and consume Western music, play Western sports, use Western political systems, consume Western models of entertainment, etc.? It's all a relic of imperialism and the trauma caused by colonial domination - which happened because of the accident of our superior military technology, not any sort of cultural or racial superiority.

All but one of the cast of this series have double eyelids, which is statistically nearly impossible naturally, and their noses recognizably European. All of them could easily pass as mixed race or even Caucasian. There's nothing inherently wrong with that on an individual basis, but if almost everyone is doing it, in aggregate it seems symptomatic of something unhealthy.

Who is always at the top in Hottest BL Star polls? Bright Vachirawit. Is that based on his acting ability? Let's be honest.

Not the dyed hair - the (upper) eyelid and nose alterations. I looked it up - these are the most common two procedures in the entirety of E and SE Asia (by far). People have the right to do whatever they want to their appearance, but when a trend is to look like a difference race, I think that bears thinking about - is this something all these actors want to do, or do they have to do it to get work? That Dyed hair is inconsequential in that it only lasts a few weeks, and doesn't have the same racial implications.

I kinda think he could pull off being Jeff Satur's little brother? Maybe? Or is just the hair? LOL
You're right! He does have a resemblance.
On Senpai, This Can’t Be Love! Jun 17, 2022
This trend of caucasianizing Asian actors has really gotten out of control. I was getting that "uncanny valley" effect and couldn't pay attention to what I was watching because it was so distracting. I'll try again later.

Sorry, but a small child would easily be able to tell Gong Li wasn't into that hug. Everything that I liked about this series has been erased - the writing is abyssmal. Whoever came up with this has no idea how to generate organic drama so they just went with the stupedously lazy fake "I don't like you" and a ridiculously implausible misunderstanding about a girl. It didn't even make any sense, since Ze Shou's father supports their relationship.

I'm surprised one of them wasn't run over by a white SUV in the last scene, but TBH, I wouldn't care.

Because I'm shallow, I'll probably FF through the finale just in case Ze Shou takes his shirt off again.
