Agree on all points! There's just no chemistry & I want there to be!
I'm not sure what it is. When they hug they don't hold back, and they're both cute. Well, one is cute, and the other is hot. It's not Han Gi Chan being "gay-shy" - he definitely had chemistry with Jang Eui Soo. Although you'd have to be deceased not to have chemistry with Jang Eui Soo, and even then it would probably still be there.

How is that? how do they rate?
I'm not entirely sure. The chart is labeled "overnight ratings". In the USA this used to be determined by a representative sample of households provided with tech that monitored what they were watching. I assume it must be done differently now with people not really watching TV anymore. Probably a count of people streaming a show. That wouldn't catch pirate sites, so probably shows with official YouTube channels are overrepresented. But Miracle of Teddy Bear had massive ratings compared to even the most successful BLs and it's not on YouTube.

Review Rak Diao
Great review. The dead fish accidental kiss is one of my least favorite tropes, but I was OK with this one because one of the predictions of the fortuneteller was about accidental contact, so it was at least an attempt to have it make sense, and it wasn't from an obviously athletic man inxplicably tripping over his own feet - he was pulled down.

I also think Rak knew his feelings much earlier than Diao did. Maybe close to when they first met, and certainly no later than Ep 8 in the "let's go" scene. Diao's obsession with Rak probably had a sexual undertone he was unaware of until later, but it was there - wasn't it the first episode when his eyes popped wide when he saw Rak shirtless? Although anyone would have that reaction.

That was even sweeter with the subtitles. Win is so good - I'd love to see him in a dramatic role. Earth's role isn't as challenging, but he's certainly the master of longing stares.

I would think you would hate this show given what it's about.
Well, it's about soup. I would think that's reason enough.

I think I am talking on behalf of everyone if I say this is one of very few series, where we watched without subtitles,…
LOL, I watched each ep 3 times. Raw, fansubbed, and official subbed. I've never once done that before. I think it's largely Win - you always know exactly what he's thinking and feeling just by looking at his face.

I keep hoping something will click and this will get good, because I really like Han Gi Chan, and I wanted to see hm playing a character like this, but there is a total lack of chemistry between the leads and nothing in the writing that provides any compelling reason for them to be together.

Whenever Bada is thinking of Tommy, it's always about things Tommy has done that benefit his business, not any conversations they've had or fun times spent together. Even when he glances at the empty spot in his bed that suggests loneliness rather than specifically missing Tommy - you get the feeling he'd have the same reaction if his pet turtle escaped.

I don't think Holland is embarassing as an actor, but he doesn't have any screen presence - his clothing and hair do, but that's about it.

This is attempting to be quirky and Japanese-ish, but it falls flat - there's just no energy to sustain it and it doesn't commit to any of the quirks.

If they had focused the story on the leads and the odd-couple clash between them it might have worked, but they keep throwing external things at them so they never had a chance to develop as a couple. That's a common symptom of bad writing in BL - the writer does't have any idea how to have the characters interact, so cliched external elements like evil exes are thrown in. The only character conflict that's ever present is highly implausible misunderstandings.

Like with the kids who knocked over the pot. Just explain what happened - Tommy just stood around while Bada wrote him a check and then left. And after all Tommy did for him, for Bada to treat him like that over one mistake means Bada is a self-centered asshole, maybe even a malignant narcissist. He's really a terrible character - I don't know why anyone would write this.

Went to YT and watched Holland's "Neverland" MV, which has 14M views after four years which isn't bad. He has…
The difference is that straight men aren't an oppressed minority forced by an intolerant society to either hide who they are or accept "feminine" roles in society. In the West there's no real issue with straight guys playing gay roles anymore, but BL casting calls have explicity rejected gay actors and even in some places where they slip in they're subjected to homophobic harassment by the crew.

If genre that exploits m/m love won't hire gay actors that's problemmatic. But nobody here is complaining about representation, they're saying it's nice that they case Holland and a bit refreshing to have a character for once that's not the strictly "straight-acting" norm in BL.

It's a bit odd to say you are more impressed with straight guys playing gay roles. Why? It's a role. None of the actors either way are together, so it's just a job. I don't find it easier to kiss a strange guy than a strange girl with 100 people in the room and someone telling you what to do all throughout and repeating the same thing 10 times. It might even be easier with a girl - I'd be less self-conscious.

Do you mean that you didn't like the ending, or that you didn't like that it ended?

I'd be surprised if there's no S2. If it has more viewers than KinnPorsche - and I doubt it cost more than 1/10th to produce, why wouldn't they? The "risk" in my view is that everyone is going to want the leads for other projects.

It was good, but there was a tad too much waiting for results - that could have been done with a shorter montage and then more time given to Sing & Gap. TBH, the ep was a bit dull, even if important, and I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed the cameo.

Th question was plural - couples. I'm guessing the other couple is Gap and Sing, which may be wishful thinking, but Fiat and anyone is also acceptable.

is this a bl? romance plot?
Definitely. The first episode will likely strike you as stupid and annoying, but give it a chance. The laugh track becomes less intrusive and you get used to it. It's Enemies to Lovers, so it takes until halfway through before it becomes clear - there's a moment in Ep 8 that I've watched dozens of times - it's my go-to put me in a good mood. One of them is consciously in love much earlier than the other, but the series in general is full of sqee! moments.

It's organized like a sitcom, so each episode is self-contained, but there is an overarching plot, so if something happens in an episode, it doesn't just disappear - many things come back later - there are things in the first episode that are crucial, even though you don't realize it until near the end. And their relationship is not static - it develops. Plus, it's actually funny at times, unlike a lot of Thai "humor".

Considerably higher than KinnPorsche, except for KP Ep 5, which was still lower, but not by as much. 3-4x better than Cutie Pie, and the only series that competes is Secret Crush On You. Triage is doing well, which is suprising, but I'm happy about that.
On My Secret Love May 9, 2022
I feel like I've seen this before, but it was called 2gether. I'm hoping Aam is planning some critique of the genre like in CIWYW, but it looks more like he's trying to create the most generic BL possible. Maybe he needed to pay his rent. The trip-accidental kiss more or less erased any desire I have to see this. Earth looks great, though - a pity he's stuck in a white shirt again.

Can somone explain the accidental kiss obsession to me? It's so stupid and it's terrible writing - not just because it's virtually impossible for that to happen, but because it suggests that boys won't notice each other romantically unless they're forced somehow, and subsitutes a stupid gimmick for actual character and plot development. Why can't a boy just see another boy and think 'wow, he's cute' instead of this nonsense? Somehow in Japan, where this all started, thay can get past stuipid tropes, but Thailand just can't.

Review The Tuxedo
Was Chap the seme? I figured since he couldn't leave a house or walk past a swimming pool without drowning in 3 feet of water and that Green rescued him made Green the seme. On the other hand, Chap is slightly taller and I think it's illegal for an uke to be taller than a seme.
