The buildup for them liking each other has been there since the beginning. Both have shown their feelings plenty…
I've seen Akk's love for Theo, but not Theo's for Akk. And if it's there, isn't it a little strange to talk about kissing when all Theo's cared about so far is Enchante? It would have been nice if at some point Theo had indicated somehow that he hoped Akk was Enchante. Maybe it's just the acting, and I haven't read the novel, so all I can go by is what's on the screen.
He was in a totally non-sexual part. I really don't see your objection. Taking your shirt off isn't inappropriate,…
I'm really asking - I'm usually wrong! I often miss inappropriateness that other people see and I want to understand.
Maybe due to cultural conditioning men are less sensitive about objectification than women are - I think a lot of men like being objectified, and maybe it's less damaging for us because there's no social opprobrium attached to it.
I accidentally watched segment 4 before I realized what I had done and went back to watch the first three, but it made less sense that way.
The problem with this is that Toh isn't cute, he's creepy beyond belief with a serial-killer haircut. And if Toh just stands there staring for 45 minutes the next time Nuea tries to hand him something I will scream. It's just excruciating - is that supposed to be funny? Why on earth would Nuea find this little weirdo attractive? And THAT was what Toh fantasized about doing with Nuea after seeing him shirtless? My fantasy would have involved getting my knees dirty.
I end up just FF through everything looking for scenes where Nuea is feeling too warm.
i wish the main title to this series was stalker instead of secret crush on you... but i guess stalker is not…
I'm with you here. If Toh were spending his evenings strangling small animals just for fun it wouldn't surprise me. (Then he'd stuff them and dress them like Nuea.) He's not cute, quirky, or charming, he's just very creepy, and while the actor has some comedic ability, the problem is the writing tried to squeeze all its humor out of him standing and staring for hours at a time - it's just all cringey and I end up watching on 2x hoping something not irritating will happen.
That was dull and barely watchable. The last 5 seconds were cute, but there was no real build-up to it that made sense. Why were they suddenly talking about this?
The main problem with this story is that nobody gives a flying f@#$% who Enchante is. Why should we? Some guy wrote a brief sentence in a book. Whoopee. There was no back & forth, no reason for any emotional investment - or what, if someone knows how to scribble a little French they're somthing special? Fine then: Où puis-je trouver un pingouin ? J'ai faim.
It just doesn't matter. And because that's the main plotline, it makes the whole series tedious. As for Akk, Theo isn't even nice to him, has shown zero interest in him or his life - Akk is 100% right, Theo is totally self-absorbed. Akk should go for Saifah.
Whatever chemistry there is here is one way, all coming from Akk. I just don't understand the casting - why would you hire Gawin and Fluke and then waste them in secondary roles while you have someone with no charisma or acting ability in the lead role? How great could this series be if Gawin were playing Theo? Then you'd at least believe that everyone wants him.
Ok, don't kill me but was it just me that thought the last scene was kinda... nothing special?Everyone in the…
I agree. The kiss was cute, but there wasn't really any buildup to it that made sense. Why are they suddenly talking about this? And it was also really formulaic. The 17-hour lean in to a kiss that gets interrupted, then no matter what the context, even if sleepy and languid, the person kissed has to pop their eyes wide open before settling into the kiss because that's what happens in yaoi (or did 40 years ago but we CAN'T LET IT GO). There is some chemistry, but it's all one-way from Force. They need to start casting experienced actors for main roles. I spent the whole episode thinking "Where's Saifah? Can he do that egg thing again?"
hate to say it but theo is one boring main character he’s not even particularly likable
He's not at ALL likeable. I think Akk is right - nobody could possibly be interested in him unless they want something.
Why would you hire Fluke & Gawin to be in your cast and then make Book the lead? It's mystifying. Theo is the most uncharismatic and unlikeable main character I've ever seen.
A confusion-fest. Nothing connected to anything. Cute leads though.
The leads are definitely attractive.
It doesn't help that they keep adding strange vampire rules. Vampires eyes turn blue when they use their powers. Except when they turn red. Drinking from a Pureblood will turn a vampire human, which is desirable because... who wants eternal youth and vitality? These vampires can go out in the sunlight and don't need to kill people, so I don't see the downside.
Anyway, pureblood only works if they're in love with you. THAT I understand. We all know that you must befriend a chicken before it's flesh can nourish you.
I did watch Hotel Stars, which has a spectacular cast, but that's about all it has, unfortunately. I watched it mostly for Tae Darvid, but I couldn't help but notice Pleum - and after the last Something In My Room, seeing that Green would have been his partner makes me cry, because he is one of the best actors I've seen in a BL.
I'll certainly let you know if I hear any news about this guy!
i have big problem with Ice character's real life parents. Because the actor is 14 years old and they let him…
He was in a totally non-sexual part. I really don't see your objection. Taking your shirt off isn't inappropriate, especially since nobody touched him. Boys take their shirts off every day - they get naked in front of adults at school in PE, and it's common to have "shirts and skins" be opposing teams in sports. If he had been involved in a love triangle, then I would be uncomfortable too, but nobody so much as touched him.
What would be the long-term effects of someone painting a picture of you? I think that would be affirming and good for his ego that someone thought he was so beautiful he needed to paint him. That's certainly how I would feel. Also, the age of consent in Thailand is 14.
I don’t get the colourism people were mentioning earlier. The farmers are legit in 5 mins of the show and the…
Because we know that actor - he was in 1,000 Stars, and it's clear he's been dyed dark and his character is clearly a bumbkin, so it's taking a lighter-skinned actor and coloring him dark so he can be a buffoon. That's colorism. I don't think it's colorist if you cast a dark actor - Earth is quite a bit darker than the average BL star - but if you take someone and actually darken their natural skin color to lower their class, that's not good.
other reason for low ratingBecause its not 100% BL dramaAccording to official trailer its Switch body girl inside…
Earth is in my top 5 of BL actors, but I rated this low because I think it's really awful.
I don't mind the body swap at all - I don't think it takes away from the BL, as it's pretty clear from the ice cream scene that these guys are in love already.
BL always has a fantasy element, and I'm fine with the premise - but within that context, people still have to behave realistically. Win's reaction to the will was completely out of proportion, and his visceral anger and serious abuse of his sister a whole year afterwards was totally unmotivated. It just felt false, and I thought Mix was overacting so badly it was almost unintentionally funny.
I really disliked this and it was hard to sit through - for me it was the worst Thai BL of the year so far.
OOF Win. ooooof. His mother needs to smack him upside the head, for real. I'm not a Thai person so I can't really…
Is it possible that there's bleedover from 1,000 Stars? I didn't feel any chemistry here, and I thought Mix was surprisingly terrible. I agree that Earth is hotter than ever, though - those tight jeans...
The colorism comes from the 'blackface' they put on Champ as he's playing a country bumpkin. It's pretty bad. but I feel the situation is somewhat redeemed by Earth being fairly dark too but without any negative associations.
Okay, everything aside for the moment,Mix's acting was 12/10.
Wow - I suppose it's a good thing that we all see things differently or the world would be boring - but I thought it was more like a 2/10 - I thought the overacting was painful, although part of it was the head-scratching writing. His reactions made no emotional sense.
Stories don't need to start with a chase scene like a Bond movie, but 20 minutes of animal husbandry?
And what happened to Mix? When did he become a scenery-chewer? That was some serious overacting, and not at all convincing, although to be fair the writing was really bad and his reaction to the will made no emotional sense. And that he was still equally pissed off a year later... Jan was even worse. Win is so irredeemably awful that I want him to die.
You can get away with a degree of unrealism in BLs - like office work always seems to involve gigantic amounts of paper as if it's still the 1980s. But just about everyone alive is perfectly aware that there is absolutely no way you can bake a wedding cake that fast. It's just beyond what's physically possible by an order of magnitude. That was as bad as the funeral in Gen Y.
And that ending. God. This is one of the worst things I've ever seen - what a colossal disappointment. I realize they must have known this wasn't great judging by the absence of promotion, but I thought something with Earth in it would at least be mediocre - but I'd rather watch Gen Y or Amore than this. That was difficult to sit through - I had to take breaks.
I think that's a good analysis, but they said he was taken in at age 7 - that seems too young for these issues. He's obviously very close to his... I guess foster mother, and Tae Sung is of similar age - it seems incredible that they'd have no relationship and yet are romantically in love with each other.
I guess to an extent you just have to accept the premise and go with the flow - and I could do that, except the story is too generic. The premises of shows like Not Me or Where Your Eyes Linger are way more ridiculous than that of this series, but they have unique qualities and aren't just the same thing over and over and over, i.e. short and shy high school uke in love with a tall popular seme.
It's a crack show, it's ridiculous on purpose, don't take it seriously and it will be the funniest thing
Well, I think you were right - I didn't feel told what to feel, I thought you pointed out a different way of looking at it. I watched that scene again and it was funny.
