I don't know how I missed it before, but this series is literally Romeo & Juliet, warring houses (faculties) and all. Wai is Tybalt, so that makes Pran Juliet and Pat is Romeo.
That kind of puts a new light on the violence - it makes so much more sense in that light.
This episode was so good. Nanon's smile is so lethal - much like Ohm shirtless. Yikes.
I thought it was Aof but nobody answered me on YT. I see no reason for Monet and her parents whatsoever.
But Punn himself is a bridge to the kidnappings - it should have been possible to use that. Or at least make it a hot police officer - they could bring back Inspector M...
This series needs just a couple less storylines and characters. There's no point to Pluem's character (I could stare at him all day), the reporter's parents don't add anything, and now Weir's evil ex. This story works better as a Manga, but I'm not sure why they keep making live-action adaptations.
Foei is really handsome - I'm not sure hte beard & 'stache really work on him, but I suppose that's his brand now.
I am confused with mixed opinions on this show. I've liked every episode. I like slice of life stuff as I have…
I think it's just trying to do too much. It's not bad or anything, but it's hard to get invested in anything because there's just so much going on with so many characters.
I know it was all for the product placement, but making him a non-sweet dessert and then dumping condensed milk…
I was so confused by that I paused to do research. Apparently they make an unsweetened version. They should have said that, because I think we would all think of it is cloyingly sweet. But it's still from a plastic tube and no French-trained chef in a high-end pâtisserie is going to use that.
If you like watching shows with a good plot and script, this is just not it. The actors aren't the problem, but…
It's based on a manga, but two points about that: someone had to choose which manga to base this on, and yet they chose this (why do they always have to set an existing novel or manga? Is nobody capable of writing an original script?). Second, this would have worked if it were OTT ridiculous so that you don't take it seriously.
At least in this ep Monet finally noticed that Krating is gorgeous, and people stopped pretending that a tall, handsome, wealthy guy with a beautiful smile (and body) is creepy. And yet nobody thinks it's creepy that Weir makes several unwanted sexual advances on Punn every day?
Unfortunately, this is not a story that benefits from slow-pacing. It really needs to move faster or it bogs down. I had to look up that topping because it's normally cloyingly sweet, but they do make an unsweetened version.
Two Bad Buddy references today: the condensed milk squeeze bottle, an d the director (Aof) was one of the customers in the cafe.
I feel a deep sympathy for the actors when I see how a badly scripted, badly directed series can damage the reputation…
Yes - technical failures are one thing, but the writing is terrible - I get that sponsors are needed, but product placement should be just some thing that appears for a moment, whereas in this case the whole project exists only to push products.
I was in love with Gameplay in Ingredients, which was also a serialized ad, but it had cooking tips and did have a well-thought-out plot, and Best was fantastic in Check Out, and both of them are professional actors - there has to be a directing problem. This is the only thing the director has done that's listed.
Comedy featuring Child abduction,Abuse and Murder=HILARIOUS !!! Hmmm..... Thailand has a weird sense of humour.
Once of the great masterpieces of Western culture is Mozart's Don Giovanni, a comedy where the main character murders an old men who was trying to prevent him from raping his daughter and the old man reappears at the end as a ghost and drags the hero screaming to hell.
I can usually see what people like in a series if if I don't like it myself. But this is so overwhelmingly awful the only thing it has going for it is cute actors.
This is so obviously just a skimpy story attached to one long advertisement for Tops. It is so dull and passionless that I couldn't get any enjoyment out of it even skimming through for scenes of the boys being cute. I don't really find it cute for a man in his 20s to act like an 8 year old, but maybe that's just me. But between the supernaturally annoying Penelope and the totally bloodless performances of everyone else, what does anyone like about this?
This has even ruined my opinion of Gameplay, and he's always been one of my top handful of favorite actors - but now I think it's just that Jeff Satur is so good that I didn't notice what a dud Gameplay is.
This might be the worst BL I've ever seen - between incompetent directing, terrible writing, and lifeless acting, it has nothing to recommend it.
Oh, for a better introduction to Pinoy BL, watch one of the "classics": Like in the Movies, Gameboys, Oh Mando…
Definitely try Gaya Sa Pelikula (Like in the Movies), which I think is one of the greatest BLs ever made - Gameboys is also great but it's a bit COVID-specific and that might not appeal to everyone. In GSP, there are a lot of Filipino movie references, which you won't know if you're not Filipino, but it's usually obvious when one is being referenced by how overblown the scene is - just note that it's intentional and not bad writing and acting.
I accidentally watched a segment because YT went there on autoplay after Bad Buddy, and Neo (Na) was in the segment. I forgot how terrible this series was. Not just the incompetence of the writing, but the awful messaging. It's not often that you see attempted violent rape just waved away with a shrug.
You cant convince me this show was not a social experiement. It had so much potential!
I think the experiment was "How can we make the most horrfyingly bad series possible with the best possible ingredients?" They largely succeeded, although Neo slightly foiled their plan with Na.
I skipped all the parts with her. She was a bit annoying.
I knew you were being polite, so I went there instead. :) I don't mind expressing it strongly because it's not the actresses fault - they told her to be silly and annoying and she's suceeded unambiguously.
I can't tell if people's comprehension is that poor or it's just the new wave of BL fans. The new BL fans seem…
That's exactly it. Unless someone provides a notarized document granting consent to be kissed, it's rape. If someone had a sip of beer and then sex, rape. If someone is damaged, has trouble showing feelings and thus is cold to someone, they are more abusive than Hitler. The word 'toxic' applies to everything except Jesus himself. Actually, that's not true. Jesus bullied the moneychangers and raised Lazarus from the dead without his consent.
I forgot about my reaction to the first ep (I guess I blocked it out) and watched the second ep. I wish I could say it's hard to believe anything could be this bad, but it's not really surprising anymore - other than Bad Buddy, Thailand has nothing. Well, Paint With Love is entertaining enough, I guess. Thank God for Japan.
Let's not be hasty writing Wai off. Like Benedict explained in one of his comments here, Wai's war freak mindset…
That's a good strategy.
Last Ep (5) I really felt Wai's protectiveness and I was OK with it - willingness to use violence to protect a friend is different, and from his perspective Pat was manhandling Pran, and the acting from all three was incredible (I'm also shallow and that t-shirt was doing nothing to hide Jimmy's chisled pecs and 6-pack).
I just watched the behind the scenes and that scene really shook up Jimmy and he had trouble letting go of it - so cute.
Anyway, that was motivated and semi-justified violence, which doesn't bother me from a narrative perspective - it's the stupid childish crap that we keep seeing that's getting really old. Ep 6 felt like a backward step in that regard, but then everything is a backward step from Ep 5, maybe one of the best in BL history.
That was grim. The conversations all take way to long and repeat the same things over and over, and the cinematographer is using a lot of strange and off-putting camera angles.
The quality of this is overall not so good - and it's so boring it's hard to get through. I'll take a look at Ep 3 - if it doesn't improve, I'm bailing.
