The acting and the story idea for this are excellent, and the technical aspects are good too, but jeez, someone needs to be a little more aggressive with editing. That was way too long for the actual content of the episode. If it had been condensed into 45 min it would have been first-rate.
Yin has improved (although the stylist should be shot for that wig) - I feel he's holding his own against War more than he has in the past.
I tried, I really did, but I was so utterly bored that I couldn't even make myself click on the second part of…
Same. I like a lot of the cast, but I couldn't make myself pay attention, I was starting to notice a spot on my wall where the color looked uneven. I got up to check and it turned out to be a trick of the light, but that was enough to make me forget I was watching this and I wandered off toward the next minor attention-grabber. There's a spot on the floor that creaks more than normal when you step on it. It doesn't bother me because it might alert me to a ninja in my room when I'm asleep.
really? what's wrong with it from a production standpoint?
OK, but if I say it, you'll pay attention and notice it. The sound design & editing are unbalanced - for example, listen to Ohm's footsteps as he's approaching the bed - he's a ninja assassin sneaking up on his victim, not a tap-dancer. It's like that all the way through. The blocking is clumsy and the direction and cinematography uninspired. Take the shot at 2:05 - what is that? Why are out of focus hedges taking up half the screen and why is it such a long-distance shot? When you have things at different distances from the camera, you will have to decide what is blurred but there are times where the focus is off even when a shot centers on Ohm, and blurring Ohm should be a criminal act. The lighting is not very good either.
It's not terrible, it's just below the usual GMM standard. Sometimes that happens when a production is trying to do too much and it might settle down in future episodes and be less noticable, but the sound issue is a more technical flaw and may not ever improve. We'll see.
That was an oddly substandard production - GMM writing is usually terrible and the acting kind of meh, but the productions are slick.
Other than the endless stream lf lazy cliches, the writing is decent and of course Ohm is great in this role. I don't know about Leng yet - we haven't really seen him do much yet.
I do like that Q isn't a totally useless femboy like most ukes.
I wouldn't say greenest flag. He's absolutely terrible about communication. If he would share a bit they would…
He's terrible at communication about EVERYTHING, not just romantic feelings. I'd rate Sheng Wang as as greener flag than Tian. Poor communication in a relationship can also be damaging when it's about mundane things, like coming home late without having explained in advance that you would be late and why. What if your partner had put a lot of effort into a meal? It's disrespectful and inconsiderate, and not green flag.
It's fairly common for gay men to remain friends, sometimes close friends, with exes - that is certainly the case for me. My bf threw a birthday party for me and it didn't occur to me that he might not be thrilled to find that I'd been with 75% of the attendees and it didn't go well. I was pissed at the time at his petty jealousy - he was someone I couldn't keep my hands off, so in my mind it was 100% evident that I was interested in only him, and yet I was 95% in the wrong due to poor communication, as I realize now that I'm more mature (it was a long time ago).
I liked ep 5, but ep 6 was really dull and starting for feel like we're going in circles.
The other thing is that if the longing goes on too long in the same way it reduces the energy of the story. The one thing that I really liked ws Sheng Wang pretending to need to be carried up the stairs to have an excuse to hug Tian, and Tian letting him get away with it because he wanted it too.
There needs to be more of the physical dimension of their longing - not sex, but intentional touching, sitting too close, etc. Sometimes BL bends over backwards (pun intended) to avoid anything gay.
If someone put me through a long hunt like that after a long day, those drumsticks would have ended up somewhere he didn't want them. Can you imagine how many mosquito bites he had by the end of that ordeal?
"My bonnie lies over the ocean, My bonnie lies over the sea, My Bonnie lies over the ocean, Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me.
Bring back, bring back, Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me, to me. Bring back, bring back, Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me."
Jiang Tian is the greenest flag in the history of Tw BLs. The things he does for love. 💯I mean he's willing…
I wouldn't say greenest flag. He's absolutely terrible about communication. If he would share a bit they would have been humping like bunnies ages ago. Open lines of communication are the most important thing in any relationship. He's not a red flag, by any means, but he's got some work to do before he's a big green flag. If someone his age doesn't have a bit of red flag in him, he's probably too boring to be attractive.
Jericho is a pretty good actor and stands out even in his small role, but otherwise, it's very weak. The two leads…
He's at least well-connected and probably wealthy if horse-breeding is his hobby. He always seems to get sponsors, and a friend mentioned that probably means that sponsors have some nephew or niece that needs to be in the cast, which may explain the horrendous acting.
So if it works, he doesn't have much motivation to change - I doubt he cares what people on MDL say.

I watched Ep 7 and the guy playing Junjun's cousin was pretty good - the only non-villain with any sincerity to his acting. I suppose the two mains are sincere insofar as they're not acting but just wandering around as themselves rather than playing characters.
OK, I managed to make it through Ep 7. I think a problem that all Xion Lim productions have is a lack of discipline. It's like he wants to do every genre in every series instead of picking one and making it coherent.
Is this a campy soap opera? Is it a musical? is it Gossip Girl with an opening narration? Is it a horror? Is it a horse-breeding documentary? Is it about family bonds? Class struggle? Is it a comedy? A Drama? It's all of those and none of them.
The result is a tiresome mess. I'm not sure what can be done about the horrible acting - maybe stop throwing everyone he knows (including himself) into every drama. Isn't it a better idea to audition actual actors?

He was in the otherwise awful My Story in a pairing with Hiro Shimoji which was really excellent, although ruined in a subsequent series. He has what one might call "it".
well said and that’s why I can’t watch tho kind of series i always prefer two males not a male and male/female…
I'm OK with them having some (but not too much) F as long as it's not timid 13-year old Victorian girl F. Seng Wachai is fairly F, but he can play a fierce character. Even in straight romances, the girl usually has some spirit or feistiness - they don't just sit around and get fevers whenever a drop of water or sunlight touches them.
But I agree, I like it when it's two men and not a man and an uke. The writers tread tops and bottoms as though their two entirely different genders. When you look at a BL couple, you immediately know who's top and who's bottom based on the formulaic and stereotypical characteristics they have, whereas with a real gay couple it's not obvious at all and there often isn't a top and bottom.
My favorite thing: when half the dialog is texts and live-streaming My second favorite thing is when all of the texting and live-streaming is about aboslutely nothing.
That makes this my favorite BL of all time. That was sarcasm.
This was the most boring and pointless thing I've ever seen. Physical Therapy was more pointless, but it was so bizarre and random that it had more entertainmnent value than this.
Can any of you describe what happened in this episode, having just watched it? "A bunch of people talked about day-to-day things and there was COVID."
Why? How do these awful series get made? I don't get it.
I mean, cake is cute, and Poom has a sick body - you can tell even when he's wearing a baggy sweater - but the only chemistry I felt was between Cake and Tim, and they're brothers, so nothing is going to happen there.
And AF was cute AF, but does he even have a pairing in this? Ugh. what a boring disaster.
