Only in ep 3 and I'm already watching at 2x speed except for Pob and Leon. Hm...
It gets worse. Much worse. But Pob and Leon get better. Much better. And I'm shallow, so there's a thing halfway through ep 7 that I really, really liked. But their relationship is surprisingly well-written and wonderful.
Pob is an interesting character - sometimes on these shows angelic figures like him are weak and victims - but in this he's stronger than all of them. Nobody else stands up to Leo's mother.
And, my goodness, the unexpected nearly-nude Leon. He's simply perfect. And then they repeated it after the break. Bonus Leon.
I love the Pob/Leon story - everything about it. Leon is just the right mix of aggressive and respectful and it shows that with proper casting you can make a character like that work and be entertaining. I'm a little afraid it will plunge down the seme/uke rabbit hole, but so far it hasn't.
Speaking of things that have plunged down the seme/uke rabbit hole, I have to start skipping over Leo/Fiat - people keep saying it's the healthiest relationship in BL, but it's one of the least. Leo doesn't just have to "take care of" Fiat, he infantilizes him and treats him like a child - which is possibly approprate because Fiat acts like one. The captain of the basketball team can't open a snack bag by himself? Come on. They've made Fiat totally useless - the sulking because Leo didn't use a cheesey line? Really? Ugh! When will Leo start putting him in diapers?
How do you know TharnType is a toxic couple if you haven't watched it?
Wait, how was Call Me By Your Name about pedophilia? Elio was 17 and Oliver was 24. The age of consent in Italy is 14. 17 is at or above the age of consent of most of the world.

That makes more sense. I tried to watch S2 but I couldn't make it past the 4th ep. Whatever you want to say about S1, at least it wasn't boring. I gave up on TT2 when the episode was entirely about shoe shopping and reviewing the performance of Tharn's brother's secretary.
Peet left King because he needed to be treated for depression and didn't tell King because he knew he would drop his studies to be with him. While it wasn't translated, I believe the note was proof he was institutionalized.
It was a little confusing how much attention they gave to the junior he helped, but I don't think he's a love interest because he's not in the main cast and the actor playing him is 14.
I would have agreed with all of this until this episode. There's a point where the pacing drains the dramatic…
I agree with all this - even the ratings. And I loved Solaris. Aue has the advantage of being easy to stare at while he's staring, for me at least. As long as they don't make that woman his ex and we don't gear "I'm not gay" from anyone, I can get over one slow episode. It's still beautifully shot, and the theme is very interesting to me, and Aue checks all my boxes.
If you put one more 'd' in your description of Aek's introversion I think you'd be right on target.
I re-watched the scene and looked up the definition of coercion and changed the word to "pressured/guilted". The painter…
I agree withyou that it's not really funny to have the guy coming on to her all the time. It would have been funnier if they'd just gone with his inept attempts to impress her.
LOL, I watched the scene again too and I was starting to agree with you more - it was a bit creepy for him to guilt him like that. It's somewhere on the line between pressure and coersion, because the boy felt he owed King for helping him and King was taking advantage of that.
Yeah it's really disappointing to be honest, if the next episode isn't better I'll probably drop the series till…
The third option is that their software is malfunctioning and they have to be reset between takes. Especially the AekBot.
I do get a little chemistry from Aue, but that might just be because he's so handsome that it's on all the time - and his was at least contextualized with his asking Aek to spoon-feed him, but it's only the context that paints it as romantic - I feel nothing.
I totally agree - a slow-paced scene can be like letting a bottle of red wine aerate. But this is leaving it open so long it goes flat and muddy. <-- See how I went with the chef theme? If I knew anything about cooking I would have gone with that, but this is the best I could do. Maybe something about soufflés collapsing.
I know that it’s really popular, but isn’t love at first sight kind of lazy to do in a series/movie? Like,…
I get what you mean. To me, their connection is cooking - so let's see them do that together instead of stare at each other blankly (in Aek's case) or with smoldering intensity that makes me feel like I'll burst into flame (in Aue's case - and even that was starting to get silly this ep).
I was liking the show a lot up till this ep, but it lost me with all the staring and incredibly slow talking while nothing at all happening plotwise. I'm afraid it's getting lost in style over substance. The style is beautiful, but when there's nothing else in an ep, it frustrates me.

I agree. I think the problem is the staring - they should have kept the emphasis on the cooking. The staring is actually getting kind of strange. Who really does that?
Can you believe no one cut their hand on that broken plate? Also Aek not wearing socks in his converse was...hmm…
You can say it. It was revolting. It's hot, humid, and rainy there - I don't even want to think about the varieties of fungus that must be breeding in there.

If they'd spent the time they spent staring on cooking together, we would have had something.
