Review Meet My Angel
Kaleb is a top actor in any generation - I haven't been as moved by anyone for as long as I can remember.
On Meet My Angel Apr 3, 2021
Once again, an ambitious episode, with acting talent more than capable of pulling it off, but the effort disappointed by everything else.

There's a rotating scene which was a good idea poorly executed. When you do that, it needs to be rotating, not wobbling unless they were trying to portray them as drunk with love. There's another scene that's supposed to be a critical spiritual moment, but it was shot looking at Damon through Angelo's legs, which is an very sexual image - not only sexual, but D/s. How nobody noticed that I can't imagine.

The sound is awful again. I had to turn the volume down during a crying to heaven scene, which was also unbelievably long.

That's a recurring issue in this series, and I feel bad for Enzo, but it's mostly his monologues - and I have to give him credit for almost making them work, but alas the task is impossible. They are also too melodramatic - maybe that's a Filipino thing, but the most powerful moments are subtle and quiet, especially since the sound is so distorted.

The acting in this is extremely good. Kaleb is so good that I burst into tears every time the camera is on him. You can see it in the outtakes how in the role he is - if someone f$%s up, he stands there without leaving the moment waiting for the next take. I would love to see him in a normal BL - I hope it happens, because he's also super-adorable in addition to an acting powerhouse. Gio has been stuck in joke roles in everything else I've seen him in, which is a complete waste of talent - he's really good. This is the opposite of that - an intensely serious and spiritual man, and I really felt it.

Advice: Do not watch the scene after The End. The ending before that was perfect. The "bonus" scene is so cringeworthy that I'm going to work to block it out my memory as soon as I'm done writing this. It adds nothing to the story. In fact it reduces it to a 1980s sitcom. You almost expect a laugh track to after the last line.

In the last scene. I'm to lazy to look back at the previous episodes, but must Damon need to guard the ex of Angelo…
I'm too lazy too, epecially since I'm pretending that scene didn't happen, but they wouldn't have mentioned names in any case I can think of other than your theory. Sounds like a setup for a sequel, which just no.

Episode 8: The Farewell was a bad finale. Damon died and he's bound to go to heaven where he'll eventually reunite…
I don't think they realized how sexual the shot between the legs was. But we're at a point where gays are allowed to die again - and it almost never happens in BL, altough this particular studio is 3/3 on that count, so I'm beginning to wonder if they'll ever let one live.

The way he ran out of that house was too much!
It's good to have a next door neighbor who will take you in and feed you baked goods on a moment's notice. Was that scene realistic? If that were in the USA, she would have said "mind your own f#$%ing business!"

Anyone else getting confused about the episode numbers? Viki watchers they are releasing 2 episodes as 1 so there…
World of BL is generally much more accurate about the number of episodes than this site - if you check there you'll get a better schedule and ep count.

i'm not mad, just disturbed that they think drunk people can give consent.
It's beause they can, unless they're incapacitated. The debate is over whether or not XIng Si was incapacitated. I think it's clear he wasn't, others think it's clear he was. The difference is that the people who think it was rape are totally intolerant of any other opinion, whereas the other side mostly thinks there's room for disagreement. I've had sex so many times while drunk I can't remember them all (I'm old), both within relationships and as a single. Are you saying all those were rapes? Does that really make sense to you? Nobody will answer that question - they just return to a blanket statement that drunk people can't give consent.

You're insane. If someone is very drunk and another person takes advantage of this, it's rape. Even if someone's…
It really is not that simple. If somone says "no", it's black and white. "Very drunk" is subjective, and Xing Si was not "very" drunk or he couldn't have had a conversation and participated in the sex.

What do you even mean by "consent is consent"? Have you thought that through? Are you saying sex is rape unless one person says "May I have permission to have sex with you?" and the other answers "Yes"? If you think that, I might not be the one with a sanity issue. Even if there is a verbal yes, that doesn't mean there's really consent. You're trying to take a very complicated issue and make it simple to the point of absurdity.

I guess arranged marriages are still a thing, and for some people they probably work, but how can you think it's…
There are 13 episodes, not ten. This site keeps putting 10 - it might be a default entered before the number of eps is known, so we actually have 4 episodes to resolve everthing.

In the opening credits there are actually two different teachers - the main one, who grasps his hand to calm him, and the one who creepily touches his face. The main teacher actually hasn't done anything transgressive, and I suspect he wont. I wouldn't be surprised if the bad-touch teacher returns and that becomes a plot point. I think maybe because nobody really cared about that story, we've fused both teachers into one. I did - I remember thinking "I don't remember creepy-touchy teacher being that hot."

I'm braced for disappointment. If they want something to happen with them, Teacher needs to say "This can't happen until you've graduated and are 18." I'd be OK with that. Or, if Teacher makes a move before that, it's depicted as wrong and there are consequences. TBH, I don't think they've really overtly shown us that the teacher is sexually interested in garden boy. There is a totally different teacher that touched him inappropriately early on - I wonder if the setup here is to bring that guy back and have the teacher save the situation. His motivation in helping him was - at face value - Chon scolding him for mistreating garden-boy (I think at some point I had a micro-stroke that killed the part of my brain that remembers names, because I am the absolute worst at remembering them).

I'm so sorry about your personal parental situation. Hugs!
You can safely watch it without any trauma. There's a lot more to the story and it's complicated, but this drama is relentlessly affirming, so you can probably assume that will be case moving forward. I'm trying not to spoil anything, so don't take my wording as condescending, it's just roundabout.

Nick & Prab are dating, so it's really Chon who's cockblocking.
Yes, most of the other characers referred to him as Prab's boyfriend earlier in the series. I got the impression it was casual dating, at least to Prab, and evaporated once he fell in love with Chon. Nick usually takes Chon's behavior with good grace and without retaliation, so he's a good guy.

I feel bad for poor Nick - but this is a BL, so he should have known he would be dumped for the stepbrother. It's in the rules.

OK, so in searching for the actor's name who plays Sam, I developed mixed feelings about the teacher. On the one hand, he's a little creepy. On the other:

I think the other hand would win if I were in the same situation.

I can't find the name of the actor who plays Sam. If anyone knows, please let me know!

I'm always glad I read your posts, no matter how long they are.

But it's important in any situation to get all the facts before rushing to judgement. All we saw was a divorce certificate and a couple of photos, not the full story. And if you've seen Ep 9, now we have the full story.

Does anyone know who the actor is who plays Sam?
Was that the super-hot photographer? I feel like I've seen him before, but I can't place it. He feels a little more like Mr. Tonight than Mr. Right, but I'd take whatever I can get.

Not liking the pacing. None of the relationships have progressed very far and with 2 episodes to go they drop…
This was a family drama from the beginning, so the conflict of the last two eps was central to the main plot. Chon & Prab have developed to the point that they didn't let this ruin their relationship, whereas a few eps ago, Chon would misdirect his hostility at Prab.

This show never really seem to descend into melodrama, which I really appreciate, and presents realistic scenarios (except for the magical high school where the entire student body and all the male faculty aer gay. Where was this HS when I was that age?) and believable characters.

But it does need to get moving on the relationships - if we don't see some progress next ep, I'm going to start to get impatient.

So it turns out that Chol (and a lot of people here) were wrong about their parents. (Cont'd below under spoiler…
My assumption was that there was a lot we didn't know and that as this is a very rated G show that there would be nothing sinister. It's interesting to see how it really turned out.
