I don't find this funny in the slightest. I guess if you think misogyny and forcing people to have sex with prostitutes…
The shipper didn't have people forcing other people to have sex with prostitutes. The issue isn't something comedic becoming something serious - I'm fine with that. My issue is with passing off sexual coersion as humor. It's not an opinion, it's objectively morally wrong.

OK, but why are the exes always women in BLs? Why are there no villainous male exes?
The guy who liked Wayo wasn't a villain, he was one of the main characters. How was that villainous? Tin's brother wasn't Tin's ex. This really isn't the same situation. Tin's brother wants what's best for Tin, even if he's misguided. The evil ex-GF wants the boy, or at least to ruin his happiness.

Yes, that's one I forgot, but it's the only one.

Totally agree. 1st episode was so much fun but today's episode didn't make sense. I don't know what was the point…
No worries, I understood that!

Yes. When I was first coming out, I constantly got "How do you know you just haven't found the right woman yet?" Which was discouraging enough let alone if someone had tried to force me to have sex with a prostitute. My mother tried to make me see a psychologist who could convert me. Fortunately I was 22 and she couldn't force me - but if I had been under 18 I would have had no choice. (She's not a terrible person - she was just misled and completely turned around within a few months and wholly accepted this is how I am. Now she prefers me being gay so she doesn't have to deal with another daugher-in-law.)

200% agree. This show is terrible and people who find it funny are terrible.
They could flip around that he took a teenager to a brothel and had him dragged off against his will to have sex with a prostitute? How does that get turned around? This isn't funny - in a Western country this would never be aired because we view sexual coersion as morally wrong.

Right, I'm here for the actors. Pod totally enchanted me as P'Sun in Dark Blue Kiss. Brilliant role, beautiful…
Not to mention Chon said no in the brothel several times and was physically forced, so Ton is paying people to rape Chon. And Chon isn't confused about his sexuality, he's gay - and has to go back into the closet because he's afraid of Ton. Really funny. And why are Mike & Toptap hiding who they are to a friend if they're not afraid? Again, so funny.

I'll admit Ton is seriously hot, and I can imagine I would have been physically attracted to him at Chon's age and even fantasized about him, but I would absolutely not have pined over him. I had low self-esteem, but not THAT low.

Other than ITSAY, Thai BL is a wasteland full of tired and socially irresponsible tropes and incredibly formulaic and repetitive plots. I'll bet you and I could go and separately sketch outlines of this series by episode and we'd both be 99% correct.

I should create "Thai BL Bingo". Mark your card when soemone says "I'm not gay, I only love_____". Evil ex-gf, engineering student, pathetic screeching comedy-relief ladyboy, accidental kiss, BINGO!

Chon said no several times to having sex with a prostitute and was physically dragged off against his will, so Ton essentially paid people to rape Chon. How does one not take that seriously? Prostitution is not inherently misogynist, but it certainly is misogynist to think it's a good thing to have a teenaged boy lose his virginity to a prostitute to make him a man.

That this show is aimed at teenaged girls is especially disturbing.

He only badmouths gays when they try to hit on Chon. He actually goes out of his way to say he has nothing against…
But foreigners can come from cultures you don't have the context to understand, e.g. your might think the Japanese are rude for the way they slurp noodles if you're a Westerner and aren't aware that that's OK in Japan. Ton is talking about gays in his own culture, so the only difference is who they love. There's really not much to understand or not understand.

It's the only explanation I've heard that makes sense.

But, that doesn't account for all the problems with this show. That Chon is gay and out, but has to go back into the closet is funny to them, not having experienced what it's like to be in the closet, which is horrible and makes you consider suicide - or not just consider it.

I should have said Thai BLs. The Philippines are like 50 years ahead in social consciousness.

The dialog you're quoting was OK, but the entirety of the episode from the moment they entered the club to the end was offensive and not funny in the slightest. Except the dance scene.

That doesn't excuse the misogyny. If anyone treated his sister like he's treating women, he'd probably kill them - so why would he think his behavior is acceptable?

Almost everyone who says they have nothing against gays in general are homophobes, so I'm not sure why that's a valid defense. Replace the word "gays" with "blacks" or "Jews" and see if it sounds acceptable to you. If not, then maybe it's not acceptable to say about gays.

But even putting that aside, the misogyny is really just inexcusable.

She's certainly not shown herself to be as horrible a person as Ton.

But it's not fun, it's just misogynist. There was no need for the prostitution angle, and forcing someone to have sex against their will is not funny, it's grotesque. And everything that's not offensive is boring, so I don't really see what this has going for it.
