It gave me epilepsy. I'm 3 min in and finding everything about it annoying, hence taking a break here, but I'll…
Sorry, I shouldn't have joked about that, it's not really funny. The opening was just very irritating and annoying - I don't like that style, and it was overdone. But fortunately that's the only place where they did that.
That was not good. The editing needs a lot of work. For just over 20 minutes of run time (which felt a lot longer), you can't spend over a minute just showing someone eat breakfast. We get it. One guy is rich, the other is poor. That's all this episode established, and it could have been done with zero seconds - just seeing their environments as they do other things is enough. The point was so belabored it was irritating and insulted my intelligence.
This was the case for just about everything. I'm glad they're taking the "show, don't tell" route, but I wish they'd show a little less.
The cinematography was pretty good, but there were technical problems with shots, I'm guessing do to limited budget & schedule not allowing for enough takes - I can forgive that.
There were times I wasn't sure if this was a BL or soft porn (seriously, that last shot? Not very subtle), but those are two seriously hot boys, so no objection from me. Anyway, other than the shirtless scenes, I found myself watching on 2X speed to get through it.
I'll probably end up watching this because of the gratuitous exploitation of the two lead's hot bodies. I'm shallow. Sue me.
You can't judge it from just 5 minutes, you didn't even give it a chance it seems. It is light and fun though.
It's hard not to think of it when the actors and their characters are the same. Why would they do that? Even if the story is quite different, it doesn't feel like this series is giving us anything new. Moons, engineering & med students, tsundere, ladyboys screaming when any attractive boy passes by, it's all the same formula and it's getting really, really old. After all the excellent Filipino BLs and ITSAY, it feels even more out of date.
huh... that was... an interesting kind of weird, so far I'm into it, could go either way though. the intro? what…

OK, I watched the whole episode. I didn't fall asleep, but I'm not sure I understand the point of this. Isn't this just 2Moons again? There are so many characters and I don't really understand who is who. BL has been bumped up several notches since 2moons, so this seems out of date and full of old tropes.
I agree with you. I would love it to be Jim X Olan, but not going to happen. I like Olan too much to condemn him…
Maybe we're in the silent majority. Probably not, but at least you're not alone. I think there's a lot of intolerance for people that are confused about their sexuality, which is upsetting given that overcoming that confusion is something almost every LGBTQ+ person has to go through. That the BL audience doesn't seem to accept it makes me wonder if they're really interested in the LGBTQ+ condition or are they here to fetishize gay relationships.
I will only have an issue with it if is a reoccurring theme in the series. I found the lack of consent cringy…
I'm a straight-acting from the 80s, and I was terrified of the slightest hint of effeminacy, and lost out on a lot as a result, and probably didn't treat fems well. Because I was that homophobic it really bothers me to see it now and I'm intolerant of that type of intolerance. There is absolutely no room for it in 2020 and it's a socially irresponsible depiction, especially in a conservative society that's already prone to accept the characterization of gays as predators. I feel like we've fought too hard for too long to be taking backwards steps like this.
Looking at the BL ratings, the series with LGBTQ+ sensibility seem to be doing the best by far, so that's encouraging.
It's really not. As usual, the effeminate character is predatory and ridiclous. I don't see how that is remotely…
There is a lot of terrible Filipino BL, but there's an upper tier that's very good - right now Gaya Sa Pelikula is excellent, Boys' Lockdown is really cute, and My Extraordinary is really good, but too dark for a lot of people. The first ep of Oh, Mando! was cute too. In the past there was Hello Stranger and Gameboys, both excellent.
Yes I agree with you. Love Solo & Gui they remind me of the couple in the novel. People might think they are stiff…
Why is that always everyone's justification? Just because they're like that in the novel doesn't mean they have to be like that onscreen! In a novel you hear their thoughts. On screen we have to SEE what they're feeling, and these two actors are incapable of doing that. Phu is stoic and doesn't show emotion either, but the actor is talented and so we can see what he feels through subtle expressions and body language. Solo is about as interesting as a damp cardboard box, and if Gui doesn't provide any contrast. I can't watch them - I literally fall asleep.
Parm is just one year younger than Kao and Jedi And he has almost the same physique as Phu according to the novel.…
Well, Solo's father is only three years older than he is, which is an impressive achievement. I doubt I would have been capable of procreation when I was 2.
Ok I officially disliked most of ep 10. I’m so over the doc and Kim and I absolutely hated the whole plot moppet…
I almost feel like they're deliberately creating the most boring series ever just to see how little effort they can get away with and still cash their paychecks. They stick in only very little snippets of PhuKao just to underscore how bad and dull everything else is and because they hate us.
Then they're applying the lessons learned to TharnType2, which might even be worse.
I know a lot of people like the main couple, but my god they bore me to tears lol. They seem so miserable all…
I don't mind the Khim/Dr storyline solely because Khem is adorable. My fantasy is that Khim, Petch, Solo & Gui will catch Khem's fever and die. Then all the run time can be about Phu & Kao with Khem & Perth as the side couple.
That was kind of mean, I know. Khim, Petch, Solo & Gui don't have to die like that. They could all be in a car that stalls on a train crossing. That way it would be quick.
But seriously, who thought hiring those two actors for Solo & Gui would be a good idea? Are they even acting, or just reading lines? The award for most boring couple in all of human history has to go to them. You could probably also include homo erectus and australopithecus history and it would still be true.

Yes. But that doesn't mean it can't and shouldn't change. The better Filipino BL doesn't do this, and ITSAY proves Thai BL can follow suit.
I don't think the overwhelmingly female audience has a problem with gay men who have feminine characteristics - I think it's the straight men predominant in the production. I think Filipino BL has surpassed Thai BL largely because they have LGBTQ+ involvement all throughout the creative process.
