For me this is much more interesting than the plotless fluff-fest Last Twilight, which everyone is gaga over.…
You mean about this series or Last Twilight? It was a series about coping with adversity that got nuked by an ending that erased everything that happened after dragging for 6 episodes. I think it had lots of lovely moments, but the story was only there to connect lovely moments. Everyone loves it now, but I suspect in a year it won't be remembered the same way - it's just too shallow. Its produces moving moments, but are they memorable? It may not come across, but I hated the ending and found the second half of the series boring. The first half was fantastic - I just wish Thai series could be 8 episodes instead of 12, if they can't think of anything to fill them.
As for this series, I really like it - I just think that it works better when the main story is complemented by the secondary story. OffGun work well, but any romantic pairing can lose some of its magic after 50 series (slight exaggeration for the sake of being dramatic - they've actually "only" been paired 6 times). It's nice to have the heat between Neo & Aungpao to contrast with the more traditionally romantic OffGun storyline.
I know GMMTV put in the necklace because they will have it for sale in their merch shop but if a dude gave me…
A script writer should know that what's on a static page has to be adapted when made into live action. You're right, that last touch was not good, both for the reasons you described and because it was ugly and bulky.
I think Karan is afraid he's not good enough for Achi and is overcompensating, way too much. Hopefully he's a good listener and doesn't make more mistakes like that. As for asking Achi, Achi is an uke, and they aren't allowed much agency, so I wouldn't really expect him to be choosing what to do on a date - his role is to go along and pass out at the slightest cause.
They're both strong actors, they have great chemistry, and they're something fresh and new. Dynamite is not a…
He's one of those characters that grows on you - annoying at first, but there's something non-creepy about his perseverance, and he seems to know when to take a step back before plunging forward again.
Wow, that was really good - I just wish this had been episode 6 instead of 10. It underscores what a spectacular series this could have been with a little more discipline.
I think Atom is a stronger actor than Jet, but Jet delivered today. Atom is so beautiful I can't stand it - not just the hot body, or the sexy birth mark, but that smile, and his hands - I can't take me eyes off them.
When I was watching the flower guy today, I was thinking "I suspect there's an attractive man under there." So I looked it up, and yup:
I guess this is a nice filler series? There's nothing really wrong with it, the writing is just boring. You can…
For me this is much more interesting than the plotless fluff-fest Last Twilight, which everyone is gaga over. I could only get through it by running it on 1.75x. This holds my interest, although in episodes like #5 that are almost enitrely about OffGun, it's a bit dull for me.
It's official!!! Fy and My ðŸ¤â™¡â™¡Fire and Dynamite are really stealing this show for me. The way I keep anticipating…
They're both strong actors, they have great chemistry, and they're something fresh and new. Dynamite is not a typical uke - he's aggressive and in control, which is one of the things that gives the pairing it's heat.
I'm behind, only through ep 5, but a few observations:
- I'm in love with Aungpao, and I wish he'd hurry up and turn 18 so I can stop being a pedophile
- Off has a Grade AAA+ posterior, and I can't stop staring.
- If Chef Changma looked at me the way he looked at Prem in class, I would burst into flame.
The writing is really good in this - I thought Ten's father's reaction was justified and class-appropriate. He wasn't concerned about the money, he was concerned about Prem's intent, and other than the word "pitiful", which may or may not be an accurate translation, he wasn't unncessarily insulting or degrading. He's still a dick, but I liked the realism.
I have to say that Ep 5 was a little slow for me until the Neo/Khungpao scene, which was fire. I think maybe a problem with recurring couples is that the actors get so familiar with each other that their relationship loses an edge - although this for me is a step up from the usual OffGun, at least from Off. Gun's role is a bit too much like all his other ones except maybe Not Me. Anyway, I'm enjoying this series more than just about anything else right now.
Day's mother being against Mhok might have made sense if she wasn't totally fine with her eldest son marrying a poor single mother, which is so completely outrageous that it made me laugh out loud.
The ending was offensive as you spelled out, but even worse, it was boring as f@#$. I had most of the last 4 episodes on 1.75x (2x made it hard to read the subtitles at times).
To be fair to the dad, would you stick around with an awful harpy like his wife? (I don't think that's a justification. He could have just quietly murdered her instead and stuck with the kids.)
The first cornea transplant was bad enough, because it took him 2 minutes to process the prospect of permanent blindness, but the second one rendered the entire series pointless. Plus, if your body rejects a transplant, would they even give you a second one?
Finally, a review with a real analysis and not a fan hype! Thanks!
Thank you! I'm still not sure how my view of the show can be so different from almost everyone else's - maybe it's the wrong genre for me or something. I don't mind fluff, but I guess I'm not built for 12 hours of it that doesn't serve any purpose other than being fluff.
I was a little cooler on this episode than previous ones - I think sometimes when Thai dramas do comedies they forget that they're doing a comedy. There's Jinta, but that's about it - the rest is just straight romantic drama, albeit reasonably light-hearted. The whole central schtick (mind-reading) has more or less fallen away and barely has any impact on the story - it's as if it's viewed as something tiresome that's harder to write so they don't.
Personally, I would be put off by that date - the impressiveness of it was way too dependent on expenditure of money, which to me is crass, and show-offey. Not that I haven't done it, but only an expensive restaurant, not buying them clothes (!!!) That's borderline offensive. That's not a criticism - it was nice writing to have Karan misunderstand what Achi would like.
Maybe it's better if the Thai version doesn't give itself up to comedy, because Thai humor can be a bit... broad, shall we say. But still, I signed up for a comedy and I'd like to see it.
I think Sing Harit might be the most underestimated Thai actor - he's so good in everything he does. He's like a classic comic actor from the early 20th c that can effortlessly slide from comedy to pathos.
I will be honest but if my date come at 5 in the morning, I will not be in a good mood for that. xD So far I like…
I understand where you're coming from, but I like them. I didn't like them in the Japanese version - that "Jinta" was way too OTT, whereas I think this one is just (barely) inside the line. I liike Pai & Rock a lot too.
Wow, episode 10 brought me tears the whole time! Atom and Jet’s acting have me amazed, specially thinking how…
I thought Atom was in danger of saving Bake Me Please from being a tedious disaster, but even he couldn't save it. He almost did, though. If only they had come up with an excuse to get his shirt off.
Anyway, I love him - he may be my favorite right now. He's not just good a drama - he also has fantastic comic timing.
I have completely changed my opinion about Atom's acting. This is a very challenging role and he has handled it.…
I think he's one of the best Thai actors - certainy in the BL-o-sphere. The only acting "misstep" in this was that episode where he cried all the way through it, and even then I think that's a directing issue. When he first started crying, it was quite affecting - it's just after 40 minutes it feels like I'm on a plane trapped with some baby who won't shut the f up.
100% agree. When everyone was blaming Night I was thinking... um, dude got drunk, that's it. He didn't decide to not watch the road and search for a bucket, as if there would be on in the car, instead of just pulling over instead of severely risking both his and his brother's lives over fear of getting his car soiled. It came off like it was written by a judgmental prig who never has fun at parties and thinks drinking is the worst thing a person can do.
I really wish this had been about Day's older brother dealing with family drama. I was honestly more interested in his relationship with Porjai by the end than I was the main couple. I'm actually angry right now because I fell into a coma watching it this morning and lost my entire Sunday morning.
