I was groing beyond frustrated with all that Nekoto sh#$. Was I the only one thinking I DON'T CARE GO AWAY.
Why does everyone in these forums get so pearl-clutching over age difference? Who cares? The age of consent in Japan is 15 and they didn't even do anything until Toki was 18 and not Sahara's student anymore. If the love is healthy and mutual, why is everyone so judgmental? It's neither morally wrong nor legally wrong.
So Sahara fell in love with a teen - it happens all the time. What matters is what you do about it. Sahara didn't act upon it or even let Toki voice his mutual feeling.
I think all your parents overdid the BAD TOUCH indoctrination. That's to protect children against predators, not to stop near-adults from being loved.
Thai dramas either have really broad acting (which is supposed to be funny. I think.) or so understated that you get no emotion at all. There are some good actors and series, but most of them these days just follow a formula.
Alright, it's only 3 episodes, but I'm not really connecting with this vibe and them. I've been trying to figure…
I agree, there's zero romantic chemistry. It may show up - we'll see. I think part of the problem is that JBL makes the chracters conform so tightly to the source material that it causes characters to ring false. Why would a good-looking adult man wear a haircut that would look too boyish on a high school student? It works on the page, but it makes a live-action character more of a caricature and harder to connect with, because he's too obviously fictional, if that makes sense.
Sometimes that cage is opened later on and the character is allowed to be realized, but unfortunately, one of Japanese drana's strengths - consistent charaterization - limits that option
Oddly, one inevitably has colored or bleached hair, and for some reason that almost always works better than the dakr-haired character.
I read some comments about a supposed coldness and lack of chemistry between the two protagonists. One of the…
It has absolutely nothing to do with physical intimacy. In fact sometimes there's LESS chemistry when they get intimate, not more.
For example in the Thai drama Cooking Crush, there's a pair that have never even touched each other, and the electricity between them is so intense that I can't breathe when they look at each other.
Most of us watching BL are very familiar with Asian drama and culture - I think you're making a lot of presumptions that really sound more like an aversion to sex and physical intimacy than to anything anyone is saying here. The feeling that there isn't any romantic chemistry between the leads is because there's no romantic chemistry between the leads, not because they aren't f@#$ing like rabbits, which nobody wants to see.
I'm the opposite. In the Japanese version I thought they were way OTT and I find this version's characters cuter and more sincere in their acting. I don't really like shouty characters, though.
yep I could finally feel their chemistry after so long 9 eps lol. hope we get some romantic moments, because I…
We're constantly encouraged to be self-centered when we're growing up, and when you're young everything is in front of you and you feel like you have infinite time for everything else, like love and family. It's often a shock to reach the mid-point in your life, when there's as much behing you as before you, and you start to realize that you're missing out on a lot as you pursue your own ambitions, and when the end is in sight, almost all that's left is wanting to help others along their way. Sunshine didn't just face death, he experienced it. That's more than just a lesson learned by making a mistake, it's a transformative - even transifurative - experience.
His behavior has been governed by the pain of heartbreak - and while his behavior has bordered on a severe personality disorder, I think it has to be viewed in that light. When he wished for the person keeping Rain from him to disappear and it was Rain himself, he realized definitively that it was over and it was his fault, nobody else's, which was a key realization.
It's not as simple as "killing off people" because the universe resets every time he does it. So it's just one homicide, not serial killing. OK, that's not a huge moral difference there, but I think he earned some redemption by ensuring nobody died at all by giving up his own life. I feel like you're painting it as a selfish act, whereas I saw it as a redemptive one - that's not to say you're wrong, but Sunshine is the main character and has the primary character arc, so I think it was intended as redemption. If he did it because he had to pick someone and picked himself so nobody else had to die, that's one thing - if he did it because he'd just given up on life, that's another, but I don't think what's happened supports that.
As for whether or not it's a BL, we'll see next episode. I think it's too dark to be a BL, which as a genre is fluffy and fantastical, with nothing more difficult than having to decide which of your mansions to sulk in over minor misunderstandings or tripping over your own feet, which isn't really much of an obstacle at all because you're 100% likely to be caught and saved from falling by the love of your life.
It hsouldn't be tagged as a BL, but it's hard to read the synopsis and think you're getting the usual formula. It's also not tagged as a BL - in fact none of the tags are untrue or deceptive, except for the contradictory "angel male lead" and "grim reaper male lead", and even that's not necessarily a contradiction as you can be an angel of death.
Atom's smile is killer, especially in that tank top. Also, even if he didn't have a hot body and beautiful face and smile, I'd be enthralled by his hands. You can't unsee his hands once you notice them. They're perfect.
If the whole series had been like the first two episodes and the last two episodes, it would be a 10. Unfortunately, it had episdes 3-9. Although that scene with Sunshine on stage was pretty impressive.

Sunshine knows that Q is leaving after his 7th wish, so it's hard to invest in something like that - plus he got dumped by someone he was in love with literally 5 days ago (or 6, I can't keep track). You don't just get over that instantly and I don't see how that's selfish. I don't think Sunshine is selfish in any case, just self-centered, which is different. Not great in itself, but not as bad as selfish. Young people tend towards being self-centered - I think that's just a result of less perspective than us old folks have, and it's not like you ever totally grow out of it.
I'm on Ep 6, and it was boring. Only Aungpao kept me interested and Holy Cow Chef Changma is hot. Neo is great at subtle acting, which is interesting as you usually think of him as a bit broad.
Anyway, too much eating with Prem waiting to see if Ten liked it. I think Chef Changma needs a gratuitous shower scene.

I thought that Samsi & the "blond" guy were supposed to be a parody, doing the trip and catch, and then being dropped and not into each other.

This series has to be a milestone in that it doesn't suddenly forget a character has PTSD and was actually really good about it.
I need more Neo and Aungpao.
