Don't get me wrong, I love this series, but in the last two episodes (9 & 10), the narrative has come screeching to a halt. So much happened every episode up to this point, and now it feels a little like we're going in circles - maybe it's because it's focused on the secondary couple, who are growing tiresome, although I will never grow tired of jump rope scenes.
I loved that Zong Yi's family had an authentic emotional reaction to his returrn - especially his father. That was so unusual in a BL, where things like that get papered over. It's kind of like how nobody ever says "good bye" before hanging up the phone.
Anyway, there's so little time left - I hope this isn't dragged out to the last 30 seconds. I'm fairly sure the cliffhanger of ep 10 is not going to lead to what everyone wants.
Can anyone tell me if I should watch this ?? Is it good ?
I don't like anything and yet I like this. It isn't formulaic, which is very refreshing for me. I highly recommend it - so far. It isn't over yet, so it can still have a terrible ending. The chemistry is good - it's a slow burn at first, but it's always there. The plot is OTT, but it's cohesive and doesn't run around in circles like a lot lf BLs.
Up until now I've really enjoyed this series - but I'm beginning to sour on it. We're in Ep 7 now and nothing has really happened. Any development in their relationship more or less halted in the 2nd episode and has been static. The president is so obviously into Shunyu that if Shinyu were blind, deaf, autistic, and deceased, he'd still be able to tell, and he does nothing except do everyting he can to resist and avoid him for.... reasons?
If the president knows that Shin Yu is into him, then his coming on to him so strongly is playfully aggressive. But since he does NOT know that Shin Yu is into him, which we know because we hear his entire inner monologue (which, incidentally, is lazy and bad writing), then his behavior is absolutely unacceptable and criminal sexual harassment, and bordering on sociopathy, since it obviously makes Shin Yu so uncomfortable. This is sustainable for an episode or two due to misunderstanding and insecurity, and because it's a comedy, but for 7 episodes it's tiresome.
As for the subject of angst, you can have a romantic drama with comedy, but when you have something that's been a straight-up whacky comedy with the relationship going nowhere, if you were to suddenly switch to angst, it would be frustrating and tonally dissonant.
And again, an uke gets sick from being wet. Sigh. What a disappoinment this series has become. It started a 9 for me, and it's about a 5.5 now.
Weird that the Japanese title is just "One Room Angel" approximated with Japanese characters.
Anyway, I really liked that. It's refreshingly different, and the lead guy is hottt. They could have increased with angel wings budget, but the way it is also has a cheesy charm to it.
To me it makes sense If they confess and add "You don't have to answer me now, you can take some time to think…
I've never in my life seen that. If you make a confession and don't want to hear the answer, then you're self-absorbed and only did it for yourself, to get it off your chest.
If someone responds "OK, I will think about it and get back to you," you can translate that as "Hell, no. But I'm too nice to put it that way. Well, maybe I just don't like confrontation."
I couldn't get through the 2nd ep. When everything is predictable 5 minutes in advance, you get bored. When the boys came into the classroom talking about rain, did anyone NOT know what would happen? I guess for some people there's comfort in repetition, but for me, there's only irritation and the lack of creativity and boredom.
Does it get interesting, or does Amane continue to behave like a 12-year old girl with consumption?
hear me out a younger actor to play adult Swanson because this man is old he doesnโt look late 20s; heโs giving…
The actors are 36 and 25 - I don't see what the problem is. Why do people never have a problem with a similar age difference with a man and a woman but can't deal with it with two men? And why is an age difference not OK but horrendous power differences, like in all the boss and employee stories not bother people?
It's impossible to be more annoying than UWMA, that Pharm crying in every episode got on my nerves. It's a complex…
Wait, you mean I'm not the only person on the planet who felt that way? I suddenly feel less alone in the universe, thank you! I always call it "Crybaby and his talking mannequin".
Also, he's short and not handsome enough? On what planet? I would kick a puppy for 5 minutes with him. If we don't get to see that hot bod next week I will Burn Things Down. When he was kidnapped his hair defied that horrible bowl cut and there wasn't even the pretense of his not being hot.
Anyway, this is wonderful, charming, and funny. I love it.
he's short... not handsome enough.. ok you lost me there lol
Just like women can't fathom how it's possible men think of the Roman Empire every week, they also can't fathom that we don't care about how tall someone is.
Also, Hsiao Hung is so beautiful it hurts to look at him
I'm behind and just watched Ep 7. I love that they had the younger guy top the older - really rare in BL, and I love that it wasn't even a question of discussion - Ze Rui was getting f@#$ed, plain and simple.
That is one of the cutest and hotest pairs I've seen in a while.
This series is amazing! Why isn't everyone talking about it? The humor is actually funny and I don't need to spell it "humor". Hsiao Hung is gorgeous, even with the awful haircut.
Normally I hate tropes like the piggy-back ride, but I loved it here because Shunyu reacted like an actual man would, with intense embarassment at something humiliatingly infantilizing. And the president was struggling with the weight, which was also realistic. Shunyu must weigh 70 kilos - that would be a struggle, especially in the hot sun wearing a suit. It was so funny - the way he was regretting his decision was perfect.
