Im at ep 9 and your review just made me laugh, you absolutely nailed it... perfect description
Sometimes I wonder if I expect to much, but in reality I don't expect anything so am rarely disappointed but sometimes pleasantly surprised (usually by Korean or Taiwanese series - although only the Thais have [accidentally] mastered 'so bad it's good' like Unforgotten Night).
lol 😆 now tell us what you think of ep 8? how did it make you feel? ðŸ¤
They did exploit the "BL formula", I presume to attract an audience, so I can't really fault people for being disappointed - but after a few episodes as the themes developed it was pretty clear that it wasn't going to have a BL fantasy ending.
It deliberately adopts the fairly tale genre, which usually has a lot of darkness in it, and it seemed to me that the entire story was Nut's screenplay written to process his grief., hence the supernatural elements.
Why would Yang have a code number for "just don't come"? Maybe if he's kinky or something.
"I can't take your 200,000 baht ($5,400). I'm OK with leaving your brother as a hostage-slave, but I can't consider taking your money."
Unpopular opinion: I need an incest story after that last episode. Not really, but I want to see those two play a couple. A story in which it's Ngern's job to lift heavy boxes all day. No offense against Daou, but that wig is so awful it's hard to tell how cute he is. If you've seen him with his natural hair - yowza.
I actually didnt really buy Palm and Nueng - but I agree with you here. I'm disappointed because Chimon is a good…
Palm is so hot that he has chemistry with the sidewalk he's walking on. He just needs to stand there and it works. But I didn't really get it both ways. That's similar to here where I'm getting chemistry from Perth but not from Chimon.
Chimon can do it - he had it strong with Pluem, and Pluem's character was straight. He even had good Chemistry with Perth in NLMG, but this role is clearly not exciting him. His acting was rich and subtle in NLMG, but here he looks like he'd rather be anywhere else,
Ugh, can it rain on an uke just once without them getting sick? Who gets sick in warm rain? Rain can't make you sick under any circumstances (unless it's acid rain) it's when it's really cold it can lower your immune response to germs. It's so predictable and lazy. The minute I saw it was raining I knew Chimon would get sick and there would be a damp towel wipeown. It's so lame.
Actually, the writing on this is awful. Fortunately the acting is very good - but there's only so much you can do with such dull and lazy writing. It's really a struggle to get through this - only my love of Perth and Saifah's arms is pulling me through.

How was He's Coming to Me a sad ending? I thought it was a ridiculously happy ending given one of them was dead. Or did you mean There's Something In My Room? I don't think the couple not getting together necessarily means it's a non-happy ending, although I'd bet that's what most people really mean when they ask if there's a happy ending, so your question is really key. I'd argue that Fahlanruk had a sad ending because Fah remained in a relationship with a mentally and physically abusive psychopath.
Gaya Sa Pelikula ended up being a tad sad because they never made the planned sequel due to... misbehavior... on the part of the director.
In general, a series had better have a DAMNED good reason for a sad ending after all the time we invest in watching them.
A lot of people found Miracle of Teddy Bear upsetting and sad, because they were looking at it through the lens of the BL formula, when it was clear from the beginning that it was never going to end up that way, and in fact the message of the series is very positive and affirming.
I saw this coming. After watching episode 2, I was 100% positive that this comment section will have its usual…
That's really condescending. I think everyone understands the spiritual basis of Asian dramas - Until We Meet Again was one of the most popular series.
The issue is completely different - it's a weird neo-Victorianism that's crept into the Anglosphere (not the West in general) that views just about everything as transgressive. Many people have their panties twisted around their necks unless people present signed consent forms for every gradualtion of initimacy and they view standard romantic pursuit of a love interest as the behavior of a rapey stalker.
Likewise the lack of distinction of the differences between the ages of minority. Dating a 10 year old is absolutely not the same thing as dating a 15-year old, but to most people, dating a 17.5 year old is the same as f@#$ing an infant.
The acting in this is so good and the chemistry is great. But the writing is just awful. There's no cliche trite enough for the story to pass over, and it makes no sense that Yang pushed Phumjai away. It's just drama for the sake of drama and has no real basis in the characters. Why did Yang kiss Phumjai if he was just going to reject him?
It's really hard to get into the story because it's so artificial and makes no sense. It's watchable for the actors, but I don't agree with people saying this is underrated. Its rated about right - maybe a tad generously.
I really hope Offroad gets a vehicle to show off his talent. And I hope Daou gets to be in something without a God-awful wig weighing down his beauty. Have you seen him without it? He's so hot. He and Frank should start a petition.
There is so much that's good about this - I just wish they wouldn't stuff it full of cliches. They really don't let a single opportunity for a tired cliche go, and it's a pity, because this is at it's best when it's being original. It's counter to the formula for such an out of the blue and un-built up to confession, followed by a spit-take which was really funny and quirky. But they also had to do the incredibly stupid and overdone fully-grown-adult-unable-to eat-without-smearing-his-face-with-food-and-requiring-a-thumb-wipe cliche.
The positives way outweigh the negatives, but this could be a 9 and it's only an 8. Maybe even a 9.5 if Chen Yi does that jump rope thing that's in the trailer.
The actors were great in their respective roles.I know in real life, this "threesome" thing happens... But for…
For some people, top or bottom is as or more psychological than physical, i.e. the need to be dominated (or dominate). While taking turns can work, in a long relationship things can get stale, and if you're young, that can be a problem. At 30 I was a monster - BL audiences would have hated me. Now I can't imagine doing anything outside a relationship - the thought of it makes me feel tired. Heck, doing something INSIDE a relationship makes me feel tired.
I think maybe writers need to take classes in how to start a story - I can't make myself pay attention to the first episode because nothing is happening - it's just people having a normal day. Weird.
disappointed because it was better than your so-called original thai sexual shit? LMAO don't be childish, go watch…
What does that mean? Who's being childish? Did anyone say anything about anything sexual? The disappointment is it's billed as an adaptation of the Thai series, and it has virtually nothing in common with it except the sister writing a story, and even that is different and lacks the supernatural element.
It should have just been made to stand on it's own, instead of building expectations that it ended up disappointing. I don't really care about that, but I do care that it's boring and there's very little romantic chemistry. I think the Thai series was overrated in that regard, too, but at least the main couple had some.
You're completely missing the point that he likes his best friend's boyfriend.
Yes, but why confess in the first place, then? And after his friend & bf broke up, what's the issue? There isn't consistency or emotional authenticity, and they're not discussing this how normal people behave - they sound like characters from a Victorian novel, making a huge deal out of basically nothing. This isn't Romeo & Juliet where their romance can lead to a war between clans and tons of deaths, it's a crush that hasn't really gone anywhere yet. If it feels wrong, then just don't do it.
It deliberately adopts the fairly tale genre, which usually has a lot of darkness in it, and it seemed to me that the entire story was Nut's screenplay written to process his grief., hence the supernatural elements.
