The impression of TSJ in the novel was indeed a complex, tactful, kind but super smart and slightly cunning character. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about TSJ in the series thus far:
- His special highlight scenes for both his magical power and very fast thinking were cut
- Even some details about how he observed and cared for XY were moved to another ML

I sure hope they don’t break the character so much, so if/when XY is head over heels with him, it doesn’t look illogical.

It’s ok that the series swapped Jing’s scene of giving a bucket of snack to Xiao Yao into Xiang Liu giving the snack. But at least, give me more view of the hot man and not make him a woman?

And by the way, since when did my unbeatable flying swimming devil Xiang Liu need a boat to move around? Haiya!

Ep 17, 18 today..

Not only sugar daddy but more importantly, he played the political chess game way ahead of everyone else. The only reason why he’s not the King was because he did not want to.

Without Jing there would be no winning strategy, connection nor money for CX to build his empire.

Without Jing, no one can make Xiao Yao blush again, nor anyone who can make her believe that no matter how much hardship life throws at you, one can keep a soft heart. Xiao Yao closed off to the world for fear of hurt and abandonment, she saved Jing but Jing also saved her.

Without Jing and his funding for 37 years of feeding XL army for stopping Xiao Yao’s marriage , Xiang Liu’s army together with him might have perished a lot earlier.

Yes, in the book, Jing’s forte are his unbeatable brain and his power to cultivate and transform things.

In the scene where he help XiaoYao get out of the village, CX had the royal guard lock that whole place down. Jing used two fox tails (that Xiao Yao cut from her captivator) to create two fully look alike Jing and Yao with the exact same character and behaviour. Then he outsmarted CX army to safely got out of the heavily locked down village.

He also has a very acute 6th sense and keen observations. He was the first to figure out that Xiao Yao faceless problem was not a disease but a conspiracy by powerful people, so he suggested that CX ask her dad (the king) about it.

I could answer this according to the novel but it is a major spoiler so probably more fun to wait and see

Yang Zi’s acting is inspiring! She has been in the industry for a few decades, at this stage most actors/actresses plateau. She keeps getting better and better.

I kind of understand for things that take a lot of time to add, but there are things that take almost no time at all as well. Like today when CX asked Jing about her face changing disease. In the book Jing said it’s probably not a disease, and suspected reasons for powerful people to hide her face so he said: “ it’s not a disease, I figure the king (her dad) might know”.

I don’t think it’s a love triangle. 3MLs

one is her family, a brother, someone she values more than her life

one is her boyfriend, husband, love of her life

one is her bff who she can share her deepest conversations with, the guy has a crush on her but never let her know

Yeah, he was never the strongest physically even in the book, but he was the smartest, no one could outsmart him, even CX. I am just sad that all his cunning magical power play were cut off when they escape that town and his 3d chess moves in his head when he was close to figured out the true reason for Xiao Yao’s faceless problem.

I am a bit sad to see how Jing was portrayed into a weak, not so smart guy in the last 15 eps, a few of Jing’s scenes cut out from the stories

He has been until now the only man who has gotten her to blush.

I am not sure about that, as she blushed just from one glance of 17 and didn’t blush around XL at all.

Give me a XL and my face would be red hot if he were to suck my neck, or run his fingers down my chest. Gosh, that man is hot.

XL had better heart to heart conversations and more adrenaline packed dates with her. I think she had a special place in her heart for him and he was all eyes on her.

That said, he got away with whatever sh*t he did to her, same with CX, they could break her legs daily and she didn’t take it to heart. TSJ did not help her poison a princess, then it’s a big deal.

The moment she heard TSJ had 2 female maids, she was “who’s more beautiful x2? How are Qing Ye and Lan Xiang?”, when she saw his fiance, she went to the river and sulked to herself. She also only get shy when around TSJ.

I wish they kept the original, I think it made a lot more sense as it explained why CX kept holding on to those thoughts, he took her childish words seriously.

yeah, it’s like 1.5 years in mortal life, those people talk about hundreds of years at a time

It’s a forced one as he conspired with A Nian to throw her into the sea. He drown her, then pointed at his lips, waiting for a kiss. But she’d rather pass out, so he “gave her air mouth to mouth” anyway after she passed out.
