I will definitively keep your list on the side to pick suggestions, especially for Japanese movies. ;) Even though we don't have the exact same feelings and ratings for the historical ones, I like your thoughts on it. If I can make a suggestion, I would recommend these 4 movies : "Forbidden Dream", "The King's Letters", "Warriors of the Dawn" and "The Throne". They are the ones I preferred so far in this genre.
There were many shortcomings in the scenario throughout the drama, but it was usually balanced by the development of the story after each episode. However that final episode was really disappointing, especially with what they did regarding the North-Koreans spies. I didn’t expected an happy ending honestly. With this scenario it was impossible. But that final episode was too messy in my opinion. It's still a good drama. And Jung Hae In singing soothed a little bit my disappointed heart.

That's exactly that. It's actually one more little detail that shows how awkward they are and the gap there is between their understanding of each other and their relationship. One wants to go fast, without saying anything clearly, expecting the other party to understand it by himself. When the other one is being extra careful, thinking it's the way to get the other one attached to him. Such lovely stupid boys. ^^

Once again. More than 50 millions people live in Korea. Even if one million people had signed this petition, it will still be far from the majority of the population. So stop writing that it's a "country's battle" or that "The Koreans said", etc. Words have a meaning. "Some Koreans" is the write thing to used if you want to write about it. And I personally lived in Korea, so I know what I write. I don't know anybody in my family and friends in Korea that think this controversy is important. They have far bigger problems to deal with. You too are not living in this country, so stop trying lecturing people that maybe not live in Korea but have enough ties with it that they know better than you the situation there. Hell yes I'm in my place when I argue with you who try to say nonsense. But your are obviously not. You can support the people against the drama if you want, but don't write that others don't know anything because they are foreigners or not living in Korea neither that it's a big issue there that involve all the population. It's actually funny to still see people here trying to demean the drama when it will end next week and then be available everywhere through Disney+ worldwide during February. Especially when a little social media study show that the show is largely positively well received in Korea and worldwide by those who really watch it.

Exactly. It's a late slot actually, not the main one, and Saturday night is not the best one too. That's why it's always dropping on Saturdays and rising again on Sundays. And also, Disney+ partnership. How well the drama is doing on the platform in Asia and in a few weeks on other countries too (at least in France it will be available in mid-February) ? We don't know that, but I bet JTBC is expected more from that than domestical ratings.

I was curious about the real impact in Korea, and that's kind of what my Korean friends told me too, even one who is active in politic for the 더불어민주당 and is watching the drama. The thing, here, on MDL, is that some people think because there is articles over internet about this on Hallyu specialized websites, it's a "hot" issue, when most of people just don't give a s*** about it in Korea.

Yes me too, I hope "Bloodhound" will be good. And he sure looks even sharper than before army service. He has really a very unique handsomeness. He impressed me from the beginning and become one of my favourite instantly. Now he has a free road ahead of him to be an amazing actor.

No of course, not everyone, and thankfully. But unfortunately "people" in general don't treat things respectfully or rationally, but rather emotionally so I'm pretty sure this would have create a "controversy" if the woman had the role of the slave. That's not the case and that's good, I look forward to it as I wrote.
