I feel like I'm watching a different show than everyone else. Maybe I'm watching the cut verson and all the good…
Yes, it really feels like this was a self-insert fic, especially in this episode.
I don't really hate Gene, personally, I wasn't just getting why Nubsib is that into Gene yet, but I'm starting to doubt we will get the answer, lol. Plus, I think Up's acting was really good, so I don't mind him that much.
And I really doubt that this show was supposed to be satirical in the first place. I think it's kinda clear now that it's just a BL show with satire comment sprinkling here and there rather than actually making fun of the industry.
I'm still watching this because it's good quality enough and was actually more excited for Aey and Mork's storyline.

WHERE IS MY MORK

anyway, Gene really is kinda stuck in his own world a bit, I guess. The conversation with his friends and his drunk talk with Nubsib really gave us insight to his character; the way he kinda kept himself walled up. I mean, no wonder his first time ever bl novel was such a hit.

I started to like Nubsib's character more. He felt kinda refreshing in a way. Stubborn to certain extent but gentle enough. It made me wonder a bit how he can put up with Gene this much, lol. This boy can really scrape good moments for himself on his own from Gene's tsundere-ness with him smiling to himself after he got scolded by Gene.
The more I watched, the more I feel like I'm witnessing this show's writer/author's romantic fantasy. I really wanna see their face and tell 'em "girl, you be shipping them hard, you be shipping them well."

I'm still waiting for my Aey's backstory.

Title The Gifted
I'm not sure if this is too late or not but here's fun fact.

The Gifted was directed by 4 directors with each director assigned to develop each characters and direct of the episode that their characters are concerned/centered around.

Here's how each episodes is divided among the directors
Sand Dhammarong: Ohm's(ep2), Claire's(ep4), Mon's(ep6), and ep11
O Patha Thongpan: ep1, ep8, ep12, and ep13. He oversees Pang's character and the main story.
Wasuthep Ketpetch: Namtaan's(ep3), Punn's(ep5), and Korn's(ep7). Basically all the introverted characters, lol. He was also the sole director of The Gifted Graduation.
Dome Jarupat: ep9 and ep10. He's responsible for Wave.

I was trying to edit this info about who directed which episode into the crew page at first, but there's no way to do that so I hope any staff could see this and help me with that if possible.

TBH I was disappointed with this episode. Except all the chief shirtlessness. I was not disappointed in that.…
I think this show spoiled us so bad with how it outdid itself on each and every episode and when they decided to take a breather here, it suddenly became a little lacking, lol.

Title A Tale of Thousand Stars Spoiler
I hear what you're saying but I think we're going to hit HARD Tian's pain in the next episode. Maybe it's just…
I just feel like the placement and timing was kinda there. Torfun's name's been mentioned a lot to certain effects last 2 episodes and Tian's interaction with Longtae kinda stuck there a bit with Longtae who can do nothing but to be there to share Tian's pain in these last 2 EPs. Highlighting the emotional conflict inside Tian would at least make issue about Torfun find more space to grow. Plus, I'm thinking the teasing game that Tian's doing has gone a bit long. I don't mind if it's going be just this, but considering the great pacing so far, I just wish the relationship between the 2 can actually go somewhere if we can explore Tian's inner world and his feelings for Phupha more.
I'm not saying that the episode is bad or anything, but compared to how amazing each episodes is, it kinda plateau a bit.

But yeah, I'm so ready for the next episode of drama and all.

This episode was a bit on a slower side. I hope the issue with Ghost hill will come around coz they be eating up pacing. Phupha is seducing hard and I am definitely grateful, but it still felt a bit lacking for some reason, like going in circle a bit. I mean, this is as far as flirting can go if there's no event to stir things up.
It would've been nice if Tian's emotional conflict of what happen to Torfun was highlighted in this EP in contrast to Chief's heavy(for him at least) flirting. Like, maybe a scene where Tian might be considering Chief's love for him (because it's pretty much on the table now) but also not sure if the Chief could accept him for what he took from Torfun. It would've heighten the emotion tension in all the flirting scene. I know the feeling of guilt is there, but it could be highlighted to give more weight to Tian still stalling for time with the teasing game and give this EP a somewhat stronger narrative. Well, I'm gonna be optimistic and take it as maybe P'Aof is still not that confident with Mix displaying these kind of emotional conflict to the forefront.

Well, at least I know now what Tian's full name is, so I can update the name translation thread, lol.

I'm embarrassed to admit this... but I don't know what "NC" stands for. What is it? Thanks in advance. :)
Not sure... I'm not really someone you can call a reader, lol. But from google search, the popular system that came up a lot is G, PG, PG-13, PG-15, NC-17.
For TV show, it is the "Raikantopeni" thing that is in front of many thai shows. Currently, there are P3+(babies age3-5), C6+(children age6-12), G(general), 13+(older than 13, I think most thai bl are in this category), 18+, and E(exclusively for adult).

btw.... I haven't seen Raikantopeni for sometimes now... wonder what's going on with that, lol.

Probably from NC-17 which means "no children under 17." It seems to be a popular term in thai bl novel/wattpadian community.

I can't wait to see Aey's story. It seems to be building up my expectation that it's gonna be one interesting ride. I like him more and more. Bruce did a nice job with this soft boi.

BUT WHERE IS MHOK IN THIS EPISODE, WHERE IS MY BOIII

Anyway, so we started to see Gene letting his life be invaded by Nubsib more and more. I kinda understand him and his attitude toward Nubsib a bit as he was kinda afraid of Nubsib coming on to him this strongly. I mean... Tum did say that Gene was cute as in he's gotten cuter on the first episode, so it's not like that's the first time someone compliment him that. It was consistent from EP1 where he burst out saying NO to Tum. And I like that we see that even tho Nubsib was being a bit manipulative and coming on really strongly, he does really care about him.

But really, I can't wait for the drama, and Aey's story to unfold. He's making me more and more curious about him.

But one thing... I wish the official sub on wetv is doing a better job. This is not the first, or even second time I see some lines skipped. It's not like it's breaking the intelligibility of the scene, so let's just wait and see. I do appreciate the effort they put into translating the tweets in this EP.

I think it's Ngoon with prefix Ah like Chinese name because that's a Chinese cemetery and they act as Chinese…
I know that sounds like the case, but... well, a lot of Thai sources such as wikipedia and linetv cite her name as "องุ่น (A-ngoon)" rather than "Ngoon." That's why I'm leaning more toward the fact that it's "A-ngoon" rather than "ah"+"ngoon." And if Ngoon was a name, it sure is a really weird name by thai standard, or even for a chinese name through thai perception.

But well, not that it matter. Your argument is probably gonna sound more believable than mine anyway. It's not like she's an important character and Mes was probably the only one who ever said her name.

I feel like the comment section is split into three camps:1. People who expected this to be a super subversive…
"Personally, I like the sound effects because they added to the satire for me. Gene is trapped in a bubbly anime-like world with Nubsib to the point where it feels like a BL novel, but his fantasy is eventually going to end since that's not Nubsib's real personality."

I'm gonna agree to this one, and wish it was a little bit more effective in showing that because I never thought of this point at all on first watch. But then I watched first 2 episodes on the second time, I started to realize that despite all his comments and attitudes, Gene did wrote a bl novel well enough to get made into a live action, and it's his first bl novel. He sure have some anime fantasy aspect to him.

Actually, Ampere's character's name is A-ngoon, not just ngoon with prefix Ah like chinese names. A-ngoon means grapes in thai which is likely the case than just ngoon.

I have a problem with this drama. Look, I loved the concept but one thing that falls apart is the very thing this…
Interesting point, because I didn't watch this show through the lens of it being mystery. I watched the show through the lens of things like social justice/social commentary, or a vendetta/getting back at people kind of show, so Nanno's predictability didn't really bother me, but excited me to see the satisfying demonic comeback she would have on each episode. If I were to watch the show expecting mystery then Nanno would make it a bit boring.

Thanks for sharing the interview!!! I will definitely watch it.
Sure!
Thai language has large set of pronouns. There could be more than 10 ways just to say "I" depending on the situation and the social status of the speaker and the people who are spoken to. On daily basis, thai people would juggle between 4-7 sets of pronoun depending on the situation. The word said on the video is "Goo" and "Mueng" which are "I/me" and "you" respectively, which are considered as vulgar/impolite for these kind of setting. Earth was using them first when he was quoting what Aof said to him in a restaurant that day and Aof was like "Can we actually use these kind of pronouns in a live?" with subtle joking tone.

Fun thing about "Goo/Mueng" is that while they are vulgar, a lot of people actually use it with their friend, especially guys. Because of that, despite being the vulgar pronouns, it is the majority of the pronoun use in a lot of thai shows revolving around teenagers.

The way I screamed "SEETIAN, NO, THERE'S CARBONMONOXIDE, UR HEART" in this ep... and then to feel hopeless by sighing "and you went for the kite" ......gosh, my heart.

I really appreciate the storage scene of how they play this game with knowledge that they both have feelings for each other. It felt so.... free and liberating in a way.

And oh how I could already smell the fire smoke when I saw them storing the tea leaves inside the school.

Btw, I have to suspend my disbelief a bit that the tea sachets idea would work, lol. I don't know, but it kinda feels wrong to buy tea sachet of a rural distant village with children's name on it because everytime I look at them it will feel like it scream "child's labor" at me. It's a nice storytelling device tho, for having people's name that matters to each scenes in it. And it's nice and sweet enough for a romantic feel-good show like this.

Did I like 2nd episode? Yes. Tho I was not as crazy about it as episode 1. I hoped it would be more focused on…
I started to suspect that the edit was a bit on purpose to highlight the bl spirit inside him, because I also have to remind myself from time to time that Gene did wrote a hardcore/toxic masc bl novel well enough that it got adapted into live action. There may be more to Gene than we thought. My feeling is that the editing was not that directed in a more effective way so it's kinda murky a bit right now of what they was aiming for with this kind of editing.

Is that really considered kinky? Oh my...
Oh yeah! Should've thought of that, thanks!
btw, I rewatched ep1 again, and found that Gene was using the word "crushing" in the intro. In that case, yeah, the actual verb in thai is really "crushing." No nuance there.

Is that really considered kinky? Oh my...
Yeah, they do. There's still nuance in the meaning tho, as the original thai word is not that harmful or destructive as "crushing" which would be why most subs tended to translate those into "press." The original word does pack more intensity than just "press" tho, so that's why I opted for "squeeze." They probably tried to convey intense magnetic feeling mixed with a bit of fantasy that the word became somewhat of a norm when writing kiss scenes in these romantic fictions.
