Is anyone still watching this? I am, and actually have no idea why I find it so addictive in a sleazy way ;-).…
I am still watching it too. I don't like Jang Hee Jin as much as I did Gu Hye Seon. I know it was a last minute change, but I wish they had rethought the first episode JHJ filmed. She went straight to emotional skinship with the actor that plays Kyung Soo. It might have been better if they back tracked a bit, with the story, to gave them some time to build rapport. I am really drawn in by the Lee Kyung Soo and Park Hyun Joon Characters and their complicated relationship. If the chemistry was better between Kang Tae Oh (Kyung Soo) and Jang Hee Jin (Hae Dang), I think their story would be the most compelling. I think her chemistry has improved with other characters, so there is still hope they will start to gel, as well. In the short term, the thing I hope happens most is for Park Hyun Joon to pretty woman Hae Dang. I really hate those ripped up tight jeans she has been wearing. ... Actually all of the skinny jeans she has been wearing. She looks TOO skinny in those... which now makes me think that her lack of chemistry may be because she is too weak to muster any emotions, due to extreme dieting. Someone, please feed her a Cheeseburger!!! ... I got off topic. Yes, there were a couple of dragging episodes a couple weeks back and I thought I might drop it, but I am back on board. I need to know what happens to this mixed up makjang bunch.
Oooo not liking the reviews on here. I am watching this on Drama Cool. It is mislabeled??? as Game Sanaeha - I first started watching thinking it was the other drama. That drama has not aired yet, though. Since I have already started it, I am giving it a try.
Good article. I love Yoon Shi Yoon. My favorite of all of his dramas is Me Too Flower. I have not started The Best Hit. The synopsis doesn't sound interesting to me. If I start hearing good reviews I might try it anyway.
Someone who is doing well, and plays in popular dramas... but is always cast as the second lead is Go Kyung Pyo. Crossing my fingers that GKP gets to play the romantic lead and actually gets the girl!!!
I agree with Healer, I Can Hear Your Voice, and Goblin. I would recommend those to anyone. I have heard good things about Strong Woman Do Bong Soo and Descendants of The Sun, but have not watched them.
I would add that as a beginner, IMO, I think its impt to get exposed to the historical dramas. A fun one to start…
Faith is a great Gateway historical drama. It has a little modern day and a little taste of what a historical drama is all about... and all while being Awesome!
These dramas, for the most part, have strong female characters. I understand why the author of this list is recommending these dramas, for beginners. Often, you will find viewers on the forums (many times new to Korean Dramas) complaining about what they perceive as a weak/stupid female lead, sexist male lead, and or about how the male lead keeps grabbing the female leads wrist, etc... To those "beginners" I would totally recommend this list.
However, I do not think this list will lead them to appreciating the great Korean drama classics or their cliches.
If I were trying to create a new Korean drama fan, I would personally just recommend some of my personal Favorites(which does happen to include Healer and I Can Hear Your Voice!). Others I would recommend are Secret, Secret Garden, My Lovely Sam Soon, Master's Sun, Personal Taste, Lie to Me, Faith, You Who Came From The Stars... and so many more.
I started watching this on (in US with eng subs) KissAsian, but all the sudden I can't find it there anymore. I couldn't find it on Dramacool. I am watching on youtube. The episodes are split up in 6 sections and some of the sections are muted. What happened to Kissasian?
Romantic development of this drama isnt that great :/ but both lead stars have great chemistry plus plays their…
Love is not a bread that needs a certain amount of rising and baking time. It just requires the right ingredients. Personally, I believe love happens quickly. If two people are compatible, they will immediately be drawn together. I am more suspicious of love that takes time to decide upon. She initiated skinship with him first. This means she was attracted to him. He protected her pride twice, in front of a boyfriend/ex-boyfriend who was trying to tear down her self esteem. That would be enough to make a girl's heart flutter. Ji Chang Wook's character is capable, upright, and on top of everything caring enough to protect her feelings. Then he literally was the only person who believed in her when her life was turned upside down. He procured a good lawyer for her. Then, when it looked like she might be convicted, he threw away his career, to save her. My question would definitely not be why so sudden, it is how did she hold out so long! When they end up back in each other's lives again, he isn't just a guy she knew 3 years ago. This is a man that she has been in love with for the last 3 years. She stays out of his sight, because he told her he didn't want to see her again. After he told her they were ill fated, she swore she would find the culprit and come back to him when she can bring a good fate. In the last 3 years, those feelings have never decresed. Every time life seemed to hard, she would sneak a peak of him to give her strength to go on.
As far as the kiss is concerned.... I don't know about fan-fiction, because I have never read any. To me it seemed like a pretty standard Kdrama kissing scene. I think there was a nice progression for him in this episode to the Kiss. I wish they had drawn out the jealousy a little more, but ... every time they were getting closer/having fun, he could see her pull away. He was literally seeing what he was missing. He would get jealous when she was in close friendly conversation with his ex-best friend. He was protective of her, when he thought she was scared. He was worried out of his mind when he thought she was in danger. He was angry for her making him worry so much. If she is willing to sit with him, he is able to sleep soundly. He realized he had already started to rely on her, he already hated the idea of her being with another man, felt disappointed when she pulled away, and was worried about losing her. He already knows how much she likes him.He believes they have already been intimate - at the very least they have kissed before. He doesn't have any reason that makes sense to hold back. It makes complete sense that he would have kissed her. For the drama, I am a little worried it happened so soon. I hope the story line has been planned well, so it keeps a steady pace.
The progression in this episode to the Kiss was great. I loved that every time, in their everyday interaction, they are having fun/getting too close, he can see her shut down and pull away. Everytime she shuts down and pulls away, he looks a little sad/disappointed.
Thoughts on Episode 20 - I am frustrated that Hae dang never seems to notice her boyfriends reactions whenever she talks about Yoo Gi Na. I know it is a cheesy melodrama and that is just what they are like, but sheesh, she doesn't have blind fold on. The man is visibly tearing up. - I don't have any complaints about the new lead actress, but I do think there is a lack of chemistry. I really find myself wondering what the on screen chemistry would be like with Gu Hye Seon in some the scenes Hae dang interacts with her boss and her boyfriend.
I really hope it is not the end. I love the Classic archetypes. I have always thought they were loosely based on Pride and Prejudice. At first he thinks he is above her and she does not deserve his attention. Then he is slowly won over (not by her looks) by her good qualities(cleverness/sweetness/common sense/optimistic outlook/loyalty/faithfulness). When he decides he can no longer deny his feelings for her, he comes on strong, in part, because it does not even occur to him that she may not welcome his adoration. The fact that she does not accept him at first, wakes him up to his own inadequacies. He begins to change because he wants to gain her "good opinion". I am not opposed to the occasional sweet guy. (I happened to love Ho Goo's Love.) However, I hope the "Mr Darcy" type NEVER disappears.
I will second the recommendation for Across The Ocean To See You, for a nice guy. It is a very sweet series.
omo, that got serious quick. This is not what I expected, at all. I thought they were both going to be suspicious of each other cheating ..... Not That! Wow.
This is fluffy romcom perfection. I am loving it. It is just the right ratio of comedy to adorableness to romantic angst. I have high hopes for the secretary and his Miss good morning ??? Is that what he called her? I need to rewatch that part again. I am completely hoping he sees her younger brother and starts to think she had his child without telling him.
2 things I don't really get....why her friend, the 2nd lead, hasn't confessed to her all this time.…
I get your frustration about the friend not confessing. I think it will become more clear later, why her friend has not confessed. Also - Girls often pretend not to know and play it off as a joke, when a friend they are not romantically interested in broaches the topic. I think he is picking up the cues that she is dropping. And - The friend zone is real.
